  1. Greenland... They left back in '85 and the EU didn't make it easy BUT they are a Danish colony so there were all sorts of caveats. We are no-one's colony. We are he 5th biggest economy IN THE WORLD.. We are a permanent member of the UN security council and a member of NATO. Our place in the WORLD is far more important in these days of GLOBALISATION. Never has geographical proximity bee more irrelevant thanks to the internet, jet travel and the like. The trade deals the EU are trying to make with Canada, India and (I think) Australia which were ALL being held up by single nations for various reasons may now be open to us to pursue alone, as they will be with EVERY country in the world. I'm thinking India, China, the Middle East and pretty much wherever we like because within a reasonably short time we will be able to do these things for ourselves without the [insert name of EU member country here] holding everyone else in the EU to ransom. As for Horizon202 and Doms doom and gloom... what did all you scientists do before 2014 when the programme started? What will you do when it ends in 2020. Lets have a dose of realism here. Someone earlier mentioned Thatcher. She was 30 years ahead of the game. Remember the "No No No" quote? Revisit that and see what she was actually saying No No No to. It was the Federal EU superstate where we lose the ability to make our own laws and are forced in to accepting EU mandates. History has proved her correct on this one. Last point from me for now... The EU ministers this morning stated on the record that they now need to reform the EU because they know it has flaws. So did we pal.

  3. For the record, I spoke with my insurer today (Footman James) and mentioned the roll cage, they asked if it was for safety purposes on the road, or for racing (!!), I answered with the obvious. (I don't even use FJ for trackday insurance, and so far haven't competed in any motorsport in it, so don't see the relevance). No change to premium.

  4. Thanks for the footage Ian. Ashbourne at 43 minutes looked good with all the bunting out. The best views came in at 51 minutes as we come over the top of the valley and at 54.4 minutes when we went really slow to look at the Swiss cottages in Ilam. Very well done on squishing the batteries for the caravan bit, we don't want any evidence of going there. I have thought about the day a lot this week and it was a really good mix, with the track and tyre kicking in the morning and a little run out in lovely scenery for the afternoon. Plus, like Dave said, Bakewell Tart Ice Cream, now that is one for the bucket list. So, with all this in mind I have already got the route planned for the next one on July 16th. It is similar in length and distance but with an added 'Westfield' moment so you need to bring the go pro. There will be no 'caravan' moments so it is OK to fully charge the batteries! P.S there will be Bakewell Tart Ice Cream as we will finish at Parsley Hay

  7. Following Oddjob's advice of fitting the engine to the frame partially assembled I started assembling the first few bits onto the frame. My tapered steering bearings arrived today so I've now got the yokes installed. I fitted the swingarm during the week. This is how it stands at the moment: My next job is to work out a way to hold the rear hub so i can remove the wheel bearing retainer. Mike

  8. I sort of agree. I also think that we ought to have included 15-18yr olds

  9. Scott, the quality of dialogue on here is at a level an order of magnitude above that of other forums (fora?) Yes, there have been personal attacks on the Boardroom on the odd occasion in the past, but they are truly few and far between in the grand scheme of things. From what I've seen recently you have little to fear from full and frank discussion among the members. Until the bar opens.....

  10. I measured the space last night and what with the covered inner panel and the carpet on the tunnel I only have 370mm to 380mm so these seats are no good for me unfortunately
