To everyone who came to Stoneleigh as a visitor; to everyone who volunteered for club duties and gave of their time at the show; to everyone who came to the AGM; to the magnificent Stoneleigh Organising Team of Andy, Ian and Marcus; to Clark and his fantastic club merchandise; to Peter Osborne for designing (if not bringing!) the club anniversary T-shirts and Mark Stanton for arranging the award crystal; and to all who made this Stoneleigh one of the very best in the club's history... THANK YOU!

  2. So that's about it for Stoneleigh 2016. Just a couple of us left, waiting for cars to be released from the Hall. A few bits of auto jumble left over so let me know if you want them back, sell for charity or bin. Huge thanks to everyone who pitched in, see you at Silverstone.

  3. I would like to say a MASSIVE thank you to all those members that helped to fix and also fixed Buttercup today at Stoneleigh. I felt quite embarrassed at having to push Buttercup through all the parked Westfield cars but a number of people helped to push Buttercup and they also tried to offer advice. We tried to bump start Buttercup but she would not start. They eventually left and with the assistance of others I was able to get Buttercup back to the WSCC area. A number of WSCC members then spent around 30 minutes working on the car. A couple of members were also laid on their backs working underneath the car. I was then sent for some fuses and one member who I met near the stall lent me a few pounds to buy the fuses I needed after I left my money in the car. One chap waited with us when he could have made his way home. Buttercup was then repaired. I am unsure of the names of all who helped which is why I have not posted the names of those I know, as I do not want to leave anyone out, but you all know who you are. You people are what this club is all about and I felt so embarrassed and so grateful all at the same time. Thank you so very much for today and it was really appreciated.

  6. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who made me feel very welcome on my first visit. I think our Westfield stand sets the standard for others to follow. On a separate note, I must thank Chris King for sorting the accommodation out, as a non tenter, the experience was much more comfortable than I was expecting. All in all I've come away with a smile on my face and the feeling I'm part of a great club.

  7. Just got home at 6:00 after a great weekend, first time I've been involved with the club and couldn't find a better bunch. I had rain and spray all the way from Stoneleigh to donington, then dry. The car's tucked up in the garage and I've been told to have a shower as I smell like an old car! How long to Silverstone?

  9. My first time also having only been a Westfield owner since last autumn. What a turnout from the club ! The Avenue was quite a sight with everything from beautifully presented cars (Julie,s springs instantly to mind) to mechanical masterpieces. I was very pleased to meet with Geoffrey and a few others at Newark and follow them in to the show ground. What a noise those V8's make ! Look forward to joining you on the odd ride out in the Dales Geoffrey. And as I mentioned when we spoke, if anyone finds themselves in mechanical difficulty over my way, you are welcome to use my garage and tools etc. Turn up Moor Road in Leyburn opposite the Police Station, last house (bungalow) on the right. Well done all involved.

  10. If anyone is wondering what it's sounds like to camp here. All I can say is food, drink and company are great, with a special shout out to the staff from the cafe who served us beer and snax till late. As for the sounds, well... Zzzzzzzz, zzzzzzzzz, parp. Zzzzzzzz parp zzzzzzzzz zzzzzzzzz parp. It's like Attenborough studying a strange animal.

  11. Hi All Just a brief summary of Hethel yesterday! Although there was not many Speed Series entries it was great day to see so manyfriends and WSCC personalities around the paddock. In addition the weather was kind apart from head wind on the home straight! It was great to see David Hussey as Club Steward and Martin Hepworth my old sparring partner from Class C. Matt Hillam was there with Steve Broughton in the Dallara and Matt's previous experience of Hethel resulted in him getting the better of Steve on the day. Pete Goulding provided great entertainment at one moment having lost his glasses inside the cramped quarters of his new single seater. I am not sure if his much abused wife will provide the essential paddock support services at his next event! Del got the drop on Garry in the Dick Spanner orange machine and my unexplained run of miserable times continues. The only downside of the day was that we only got one practice run. Because the weather was so good and universally acclaimed as the best event of the season so far, many of the competitors went for it and over did it many times with a considerable number of offs. None were serious but they did incur considerable track sweeping activities after each occurrence. To comply with the MSA Blue Book we all had to actually sign away our entitlement to a second practice run so that the 100+ entrants could get 2 qualifying timed runs. The banter around the paddock was good with our friends from Borough 19, Lotus 7 club and the Lotus On Track Elise drivers. Very enjoyable day and back home by 6-30pm. Glutey (trainee event reporter)

  14. I went on Sunday and had a really enjoyable day. Although disappointed with trade stands (I found it difficult to spend any money at all), the highlight for me was helping out on the club stand. It was good to meet some people I'd been talking to on here but never met in person, and also meet some new people. So I have to say thank you for letting me help out on the stand .

  15. If I just went for the one day visit I'm not sure I'd go every year. BUT stopping the night, pitching in with help and joining in with the comeradery and social makes it a must do IMO - not to be missed. The BBQ on Saturday and the excellent spit roast lamb with barrels of beer (or wines) on Sunday really helped everyone have a thoroughly great time. Mrs Smeg (Wendz / onliest tigger) wasn't 100% keen on coming but ended up wanting to stay the extra night and despite tuning out when it sometimes got a bit 'Westie geek' enjoyed the company immensely :-D

  20. FANTASTIC SUPER OOPER DOOPER DAY OUT Sorry for shouting but it really has been a great day, all day. The Peak District Area managed to beat Geoffery's challenge of the smallest convoy to Stoneleigh as we picked up Trevturtle at Junction 25 M1 and arrived as a group of 2 to park on the esteemed Westfield Avenue. A cold but dry day did mean the smart new Westfield T-Shirt could not be displayed to it's full potential, that pleasure will be savoured for Silverstone. We got a WSCC carrier bag and headed to the halls and proceeded to fill it with goodies. Then we went to look at the other cars, I can't say too much in public but talking to other clubs really makes you appreciate how well set up and run this club is. A club full of good spirit, thank you for my 'Spirit of the Club' award, it is beautiful and now sits in my living room reminding me how lucky I am to know all you wonderful people in this wonderful club. Thank you for everything, Glen and Julie.

  21. Hello, my name is Alex and I recently purchased my first Westfield. After visiting Stoneleigh yesterday I had the opportunity to sign up and become a member! So a little bit about myself and the car, I am 31 years of age and have always been car crazy. I returned to the UK 2 years ago following 8 years in Canada and have had a few fun motors over the years but always craved a pure drivers car like a Westy. Whilst in Canada I was very involved with the Subaru community there and was a founder of the main Subaru owners club in the province where I lived. I also used my time there to build my own personal car up to a reasonable 620hp which was quite a blast. My long standing involvement in the Subaru community makes me miss the social aspect and I am keen to get to some of the local events and have a good chat plus absorb all the advice I can about this new platform. Picture of the old girl for reference, if anyone is interested on the spec on the car I am always happy to discuss it, even though it did end up with a 21 year old who blew the gearbox 2 weeks later! So on to the new girl.... I purchased the car from a lovely couple Malcolm and Donna near Toddington, I believe some of you will know the car thanks to its unique snow camo theme. The car is a 2004 Megabird which received a full body off rebuild / restoration back in 2013, powder coated chassis and suspension, sierra rear diff, stack dash, minilite wheels, v8 bonnet, westfield dry sump etc. The car doesn't have a reverse which is taking some getting used to but the performance and sequential box remind me of my bike days. I plan to use the car for the road and a few track days, its obvious that a lot of love has gone into it and both Malcolm and Donna were a bit emotional letting it go after having owned the car since its build 12 years ago. With that in mind I hope to build on the car with my own personal twist but be respectful of some of the unique work that has gone into it.

  22. Second year at Stoneliegh , and I am amazed how WSCC manages to top the previous year well done to Andy, Ian and Marcus , also to the rest of volunteers and members just willing to hang about and chat, lamb was tremendous kegs went down very well . C u all next year

  23. Thanks to everyone for a great time. Good company and a good laugh. The beer and the lamb were a real winner. It would be nice if that was a regular event !! It was a pleasure to volunteer.   25. Fantastic weekend. I'd like to thank everyone for making it a great weekend. Superb effort from the organizers and all that helped. Stoneleigh has for me become far more than a car show, it's a social event and you definitely get out of it what you put in. So from Jay and myself, thank you for the best stoneleigh ever.

  26. After 9 months rebuilding my engine I got the westy MOT'd with John Hoyle on Friday, Taxed today and am now back on the road! Well happy to get back out in some nice weather for a blast! Out for the area meet tomorrow.

  38. It was my first time at the show yesterday and the WSCC certainly had the best stand. It was clear to see that all the hard work that is done behind the scenes clearly paid off and the show is a credit to you all. I would also like to say a big thank you to all the people I met and spoke with and I was made to feel very welcome. It certainly was a great day.

  42. I regret selling my E46 330ci, but maybe thats because the P38 Range Rover that replaced it was problem after problem.
