We met at The Wheatsheaf on a bright, sparkly, sunshiny day. It must have warmed up because I was actually able to discard one of my coats, although I still have everything else on, hats, arm warmers, ear muffs etc A double thank you to Martyn and Sue for coming along and bringing Rebecca and Andy. A new member called Alan came along too, we briefly met Alan a while back when he had just bought his car. I remember him because he was the first person that I had met that actually lived in the Peak District National Park. Alan came in his car called Thundernuts, no messing with that name is there? We were paid a visit by ex-member and ex-Westfield owner Tricky too. The Wheatsheaf We set off by going along one of the 'hidden roads' from a previous outing. We went past the tourist hot spots, Monsal Head and Castleton, before turning onto our new road by Cave Dale. It is fairly narrow to start with, up and around the corkscrew, before reaching the wide smooth flowing bendy bits. Barely another car or cyclist in sight, it is just not a well known road, it is 'hidden' We, well I, actually, needed a wee so I decided to stop us for a pit stop at The Anchor Inn. This pub has a great position on a crossroads, so we got to view all the nice bikes and cars that were having their day out in the Peak District while we sat outside with a brew, and there were a lot of them. Martyn had to spoil it though didn't he...I mean caravans, uurgghh, you can honestly not admire caravans Martyn. I really think we need to have words, it may mean that you can't come out with us anymore if this vile behaviour carries on The Anchor Inn Suitably refreshed (especially when Rebecca got the sweeties out, yum yum) we set off for the final leg of the journey down the great Crowdecote road and to The Tea Junction at Hulme End for homemade soup and cakes. Andy found the biggest puddle in the car park to park next to, and yes, Rebecca had to get out of the car at the drivers side. Hulme End The cars looked beautiful today, all very shiny in the sunshine, the cars and company have been bob on, thank you everyone, I hope you have enjoyed it as much as we have. I'd plug the oil pressure gauge and rev counter in at least! You could carefully lay them on the scuttle while you started it up. At least then you can make sure you've got good oil pressure before running it. (Better to whip the spark plugs out and turn it over on the starter till you see oil pressure start to come up, then you can refit the plugs and fire it up).

Great event today. At last managed to drive the OMS in the dry. Managed a fourth in class and was fairly happy with my time. Mark, I like the look of the heat shield material, I will have a go with this or something similar. I had thought about wrapping it around the starter and then noticed that there was a risk of shorting out the terminals - fixing it to the chassis and the manifold would be far more sensible! Enjoyed myself this weekend. Finished fixing the front cycle wings, and I found that it takes far longer than I thought it would to route a few wires and fix with cable ties etc. Very pleased with the result however, especially the smaller repeater indicators. Then it was time to drop the car down on it's wheels, fit the header tank, top up the coolant and take her outside to warm up. I wanted to check that all the electrics were working correctly with the car running. https://youtu.be/nzaDzXUJSyQ Amanda was on her way out when I took the car outside. When she sat in the daily driver and looked in the rear view mirror she said she could not see the car - do I'm certainly investing in a high level brake light (first job after the IVA). The large bucket in the passenger space is a prototype coffee cup holder. I was pleased to see that the thermostat opened and the fan kicked in correctly. I did notice a small stream of coolant flowing back into the header tank, and hope this is also normal - no idea. There must have been a few airlocks in the system as the header tank level dropped, and I topped it up a couple of times - without a puddle on the drive. https://youtu.be/BKML3ajX2P8 So far I have only checked 1st, 2nd and reverse gears, but they all work fine. Tacho and Speedo both showing sensible readings, but not had a chance to check the accuracy of the latter. I then started on checking the final aspects of the dashboard, and then the carpet and interior side panels. I discovered that I've made a daft mistake in locating a pair of power and USB sockets so that they foul against the contour dashboard "glove box". Not yet decided what to do about that, but it's not difficult to just remove this for the IVA and replace it correctly later. Surprised that adding the carpet makes such a big difference to the appearance of the interior. Won't be doing anything on the car for a couple of weeks now as I am taking Amanda away for a short break to northern Spain. After spending so long in the garage I'm not sure how she will react to spending so much time with me!

Im all watched up to the current episode now and Ive enjoyed every minute so far.

Ah Brilliant, thanks Martin, I'd been trying to find a fuel tank that looks similar and I hadn't thought to look at loawnmowers I thought first off that it might have been a Kart part. I'm now loking at things like this on ebay

Hi Simon, I did the same as you, mostly because I wanted to check that the fuel and coolant connections were sound before adding body panels makes access more difficult. I only hooked up the oil pressure gauge. Like Dave says I turned the engine over without the plugs to check that the pressure comes up quickly. Good luck - post some pictures or a video!

Ian and Andy, a massive thank you for taking me out for a ride and for the pearls of wisdoms. I have advised the Caterham seller that I am no longer interested, and already paid for the HPI check (all clear), and arranged to pick up my new Westie next weekend. Looking forward to the first blatt... And yes thank you, I'll be taking it very easy on the way home.

Why bother complaining? It was an obvious misprce that they were never going to fulfil. I ordered taking a punt, knowing full well they are in their rights to cancel the order.

Just fitted a new steering wheel today with an extension to bring the wheel closer to me which has increased the leg room around my knees!! Just waiting on my new seats to come now!!
