  1. Westy had its first MOT in my ownership and I was pretty nervous about it. Went to get the prognosis an hour ago and sailed through with no advisories. Happy days!

  3. Yep me too David, I'm doing Javelin on Sunday then I have two weeks to get my old bar cut off and new cage fitted ready for Gurston. As much as it hurts to do this we have no choice now. I've said exactly the same to Barny, he's come too far to give in now, I will do all I can to help get a cage fitted if that's what he chooses to do.

  4. Just google'ed this An average sized helium balloon holds about 14 L. An average person is about 80 kg. Helium can lift just about 1 g per L. You would need 80000 L of helium to do the job, so 80000 / 14 = 5714 balloons Have we got enough to give this ago

  5. Aye, and with so little body mass, if we give you a few puffs of helium to breath first, only the dogs will hear you scream

  7. Having done this job since 2007 when I first started jointly with Steve Robinson and then by myself from 2008 I have decided it’s time to stop and hand over to someone else as by the end of this year it will be 10 years. Thanks to everyone who has helped over the years it is very enjoyable job and it’s great to see all the happy satisfied people both on the track and at the Awards Dinner but does of course have its difficulties as well. And no, sorry, but I’m not changing my mind. I did talk this through with our Chairman Scott Young about a month ago, so it’s not been a decision made in haste. I will therefore NOT be putting myself forward for re-election in the upcoming April elections. One of the difficulties has been in the past finding someone who doesn’t want to compete yet wants to do the job. To help with this I am happy to continue as the Championship Coordinator who submits the regs to the MSA. This means that it is possible for one of the competitors to do the job of Competition Secretary. Equally I am happy to stand down from that if the right person comes along. Although I do have a commitment to the MSA to oversee this year’s championship which I am intending to honour. If anyone is interested in taking the job on and would like further information then I am happy to talk it through.

  12. Oi pal, I'm the one authorising the balloons and helium, and there's plenty of club funds to try the experiment on the lightest committee member, which would also be the cheapest way as well. You'd make an interesting sight floating over Stoneleigh.

  14. Tom, I'm only 65kg so that should save you around 1072 balloons, although you might need to up your estimate quite a bit for some of our other committee members

  15. I've just bought a set of wind deflectors from an eBay vendor by the name Maisy999, and I just thought I'd post a hearty recommendation for him. Extremely well made items which arrived with comprehensive fitting instructions and helpful advice about how to get the best fit etc. Had an email conversation in which he came across as a right decent sort. Can't fault him.

  17. Thanks guys, while it goes against all common sense it looks like the only way forward so I am on the lookout for a caged cage if anyone knows of one.

  19. Was a '7' Fest on the day, loads of Westfields and Catering vans harassing the tin tops. 'Underlined' cracked his trackday cherry and has soon got the idea of track driving.

  20. It doesn't seem uncommon to have some slight variations like that - the ecu's most of us use with injected cars aren't normally sophisticated enough to provide trims for individual cylinders, and even where they are, it's very unusual to see it implemented.

  28. A thread to say thanks on behalf of me and everyone else to the Speed Series Organising Team and Tigger for their hard unpaid volunteer work that makes the Speed Series so great. It's been a damned hard slog for them just getting there before the season started, especially dealing with things out of their control. No one could have done any more or any better, which is reflected by the excellent Speed Series numbers. Post below to join me in the SSOT and Tigger Appreciation Society! PS: Any negative comments regarding either of them and especially any moans about the new regs / classes / scoring, and you might find your avatar gets changed to this:
