  1. Here is my timed run from Sunday. The only run I filmed. A bit scrappy but the car was handling much better than Saturday many thanks to Matt. I missed a gear into Church and as a result ran wide which was a bit exciting and then the clutch completely let go on the run up to Rocket and I had no choice but to cruise to the finish from there. Time a bit academic but 1:62 https://youtu.be/ZFOWqIMk_1c David

  2. Feel free to laugh........ Having sold the trailer earlier in the year but still wanting to take fuel and tools to trackdays, I built the following...... Unload and undo one bolt and it lifts out when you get to the track Lots of space for the general rubbish and lunch and tools and, and, and....

  3. Phone Caged and ask them for a copy of the Approval Certificate.

  4. I believe that the Caged cage is homologated and hence will be approved and should have a silver sticker on it somewhere

  5. How about replacing the rear part with a MSA Spec bar from a certain well know supplier for £ 260 and still bolting the front on. I know yours is welded, but a man of your skills should be able to sort the mounts out ? OK, it will be hassle, but solves the problem.

  6. Fingers crossed should be OK for tomorrow's run!

  7. Hi Russ We have made other plans for this Sunday now unfortunately. Next weekend it is the other way round though, we can't make Saturday (in Scotland) but will be about on Sunday, hope to see you then. Cheers Julie

  8. I think if marketed properly or some one make car clubs got behind it then it could be very successful and avoid a number of the MSA issues. I don't know how many venues they can run at. I assume the hills and some circuits would not be open as MSA registered but then they seem to run at Blyton? Their current regs do have some tyre issues to deal with going forward as they don't allow tyres marked as competition use only in road going which would exclude zzr and v70 going forwards also.

  9. I actually think it is a good idea to require basic protection as it scares we seeing a Westfield with the basic factory hoop going up Shelsley but we seem to be going from one extreme to another - a situation where you could drive with no rollover protection to perfectly adequate cages and rollbars no longer being acceptable. Surely the weight of the car should also be a factor in their design requirements. David

  10. I have to admit that I find it seriously objectionable that a set of (apparently very) arrogant chappies with (apparently absolutely) no understanding of grass roots motorsport have decided (apparently completely arbitrarily) that, if I wish to compete in MSA regulated club motorsport next year I need a new set of tyres (very probably) and I need to have my chassis cut and welded. The likely cost of both will be well over £1000, and the resulting car will be heavier, slower, and less fun to drive. Somehow, I see a major market opportunity for the likes of Javelin.

  11. I have had a Raceline waterrail for years, fitted the same way as in that article and I have no problems whatsoever.

  13. During 2 seasons sprinting all mine has missed was one run at Anglesey due to a snapped throttle cable, which Panda quickly produced a replacement so i could continue:-) In total about 16 sprints and 6 trackdays, and many runs out on the road, pretty damn good really.

  14. i didn't like the way the guy on the phone explained its method of operation. maybe its changed or he was bad at explaining it but the impression I got was that it essentially backed up the coolant in the head till was hot enough to open the stat at which point it then dumped the colder coolant from the rad into the engine which in turn closed the stat and people saw a sort of yoyo till the whole system was up to temp. this is mitigated by putting a hole in the stat whereas the raceline has a 16mm take off in the rail before the stat which can be used to put the closed stat circuit into the water pump and mimicked the original system somewhat closer. given the cost difference between the two was negilgable i went to for raceline one I also like the way it contours to the head a bit more. the raceline issues were from incorrect fitting simple as that. although some use it with no expansion tank you can use your existing one or relocate it. I have an expansion tank in mine and its fine. http://forum.wscc.co...ssue-five-2009/

  19. My worst run for a long time. At the first corner the nose started falling off. Having got rid of a lot of understeer there is still an un-predicatable amount of snap understeer which caught me out in Church and also the corkscrew. For a moment I actually thought I might crash as it was taking too long to get her back in control and space was running out. Then I decided to give up.

  20. Does anyone know this area? and can you advise me of the quickest way to get to Congleton from Llangollen please? Am I best to go to the top end of Wrexham and follow the A534 past Nantwich, Crewe and Sandbach to Congleton? Or am I best to take the A525 past Whitchurch and head up the M6. I will be travelling on Friday afternoon. Thanks Julie

  21. If caged it should have a silver Homologation sticker so OK under the text below The purpose of the National ROPS homologation is to allow alternative designs that do not meet MSA requirements, but can be demonstrated through calculation to be of a sufficient strength. Such ROPS must follow the basic principles of MSA regulations – such as shape of main hoop, diagonals etc. – but there is then freedom in tube dimensions, and in this case the rose joints could be considered if they are accounted for in the stress calculation. If the design is homologated, then this would mean existing ROPS to that design can be acceptable without modification
