  1. Huge thanks to all that attended this event and sorry to those who missed out on a space due to limitations set by the organisers. I can see why they were strict as the place was packed with loads of car clubs on display! Fabulous watching some of the old skool motors ripping up the hill with some bizarre looking machines. Luckily we had Alastair (aka theprisoner thepensioner) on hand to tell us what they were .. .. and how he had probably been around when they were being first built! Thanks to Alastair and Matt for hauling some of the kit there and to Campbell and Chris for once again, making the epic journey down from Aberdeenshire, leaving their homes at 5am!! Full report in the next Club magazine, where I'll be at the receiving end of my own ribbing!! Here's my first attempt ie go easy on me, at GoPro filming and editing (a mare with Windows 10!) but cobbled something together! Skills are a work in progress, enjoy: http://youtu.be/XTX2x75mk0A

  4. The toll road on the Great Orme today. Not one but 3 tunnels on the A55, with a 70mph speed limit too. A bus squeezing through the bridge over the Menia Strait The Nant Ffrancon Pass on the way home, followed by a diversion down and then up the Llanberis Pass, followed by a drink at the Tyn-Y-Coed.

  5. Just passed the 1000th post . Nothing in the big scheme of things but I'm quite chuffed. Whilst I'm not a big contributor I have found the forum both invaluable and informative for help with the car. I would have struggled without it and it is soooooooo friendly.

  7. track day write ups are easy.....Bernie will be the first to have something fall off or break. He'll then spend the next half hour bodging it back together with sticks, twine and gaffa tape. He'll then go back out on track and only return once the fuel light comes on. By about 3pm all fuel reserves in suffolk will have been exhaust and Bernie will be seen buying as much fuel off everyone else in the paddock as he can get his hands on. Dave on the other hand will have faultless reliability as he'll be unable to take his eyes off the oil pressure gauge for the whole day. Unwilling to reduce his pace and distracted by the aforementioned gauge he will spin both often and frequently, most of which will be caught on camera by Bernie. Dave will finish the day with the biggest grin but with dreams of a future supercharger/turbo upgrade.

  8. Hi, New member here from Leicestershire. I have wanted a 7 type car for ages and finally jumped in and bought an XE engined SEiW. Its perfectly usable as is but I'm already planning a few improvements, both functional and cosmetic. Looking forward making it my own ..... hopefully I can get it all done. Look forward to being part of the club - cheers Steve Edited to add pics to first post. Thinking about upgrades and the like, I would appreciate people's opinions and advice. 13" black compomotive wheels with 888's or similar HiSpec Ultralite 4's and mintex 1144 Quick Rack Wide Track Front JK Seats bolted direct Carbon dash new switches Digi dash Maybe cams, ARP bolts Engine map and geo setup somewhere It is a 1998 SEiW, the current wheels are ET15 and looks like detachable rear arches. It already has a BGH E6 box which seems suited to the car and recent AVO alloys shocks. I'm also thinking maybe I should have the body off over the winter and have a proper look at everything underneath?

  11. Yes - providing your trailer weight is less than the weight of the tow vehicle, and is plated under the towing capacity of said vehicle. They have tweaked the gov website recently and it's a little clearer now... will dig a link out. https://www.gov.uk/towing-rules

  14. I agree... ...but I'm still not convinced by all the blogs. Some would be better in a forum IMO - particularly if there are lots of questions and answers.

  16. Yes it would. And I know some do fit one. But as I say, it hardly seems worth it. At my age, I've barely got out of the car before it's timed out and auto armed anyway!

  18. Great news Andy, all part of the unique ownership experience! Before long it will all just be a tale told with a wry smile at a club meet, there'll be a few shuffling feet, and one by one, all the stories of those little "moments' will come out!

  19. Spoken to Luke, got some good advise on the upright, just needs new helicoil which I have now, there's no other damage to it. Get the wishbone done tomorrow along with the steering arm and then I'll give it a try, slowly! I'm going to get it booked into plays kool for a set up once I know I don't need to take it apart again.......for now!!!!!

  20. The responses to the OP is just one of the reasons that make these forums and this club great. I can name a number of other club forums where the OP would have greeted with a shower of unkind, hurtful, nasty replies. But here, no one is doing that and in fact are doing quite the opposite, going out of their way to assist if possible. It shows what great members we have and an excellent spirit. We never kick people when they're down. Only when they're not looking. Well done all.

  21. Wishbones on the way. The latest Westfield build manual, in two parts, can be downloaded from the Westfield Sports Cars web site, older manuals from here (Note, although the one on the WSC Ltd site is newer and shows FW bodywork, the suspension and chassis stuff is the same underneath, so it will be fine). One point to note, the replacement wishbones have metalastic bushes already fitted. When bolting these to the tub, you need to clean old grease off the UNF bolts and re-coat the shanks, where they pass through the bushes with plenty of copper grease. Then only do the nuts up loosely while the car is in the air. Only once the car is back on the ground and the suspension at the normal height should the bolts through the metalastic bushes be torqued up. Once all back together, you could really do with the cars geometry checking and resetting as necessary. If you take it easy you should be OK for a gentle trip out to the car show, (just do a shake down drive first, make sure it's not pulling to one side or the other and that it brakes in a reasonably straight line etc). Given where you are, I'd then be considering trying to get it booked in with Luke at Playskool for a proper geo set up, it may or may not have needed doing anyway - if it did, you won't believe how it can transform the car. Plus it will give you peace of mind.

  23. We have spent the day in Nant Gwynant so we have come at this road from a different angle. Through Beddgelert, Nantmor to take the B4410 to Maentwrog, gosh I hope you can keep up with all these strange names. Up the A496 to the little car park, which was full of roadworks vans, but I took a picture anyway, here. We carried on along the B4391, onto the A4212 to Llyn Celyn, here, Then we were running out of light so we diverted up the B4501 to Cerrigydrudion and back to Betws-Y-Coed, so we sort of did it and just left a little bit to discover next time. Thanks for the information, the roads were lovely, smooth tarmac even, very novel. The views were great but we were too late for cake! Thanks a lot Julie P.S Rhayader, a bit far south for this holiday, but not ruled out for the future, thanks John.

  24. Others will help with parts, but the important thing is you're unhurt, and the car can be fixed. A little lesson for you about just what a potent weapon you now own and must respect. Nothing but sympathy from me, you're hardly the first and won't be the last. I know your pride is hurt, but do not rush the fix to save your blushes, do it right. All will be well soon.

  25. Sorry I knew it was not that clear. Some pictures that may help picture with doors on couple of pictures without one of the doors hope these help the reason I have it hinged is so that with the doors on I can swing it so that the doors fit flat against the wall but with the deflectors on is they need to stick out into the garage to keep them away from the wall.

  26. Good gathering this evening with another new face calling in. Welcome to Ian and his very well built Locost, hope we will see you again. It was handy to have a trampoline in the kids play area next to the car park, though it did take quite a while to bounce high enough and get the focus right for the shot below (well thats my excuse anyway).
