  1. Carol says that every time I drive Buttercup I transform into a right c##k. Does that count.

  2. Love the noise, the thrill, the wind in my hair (ok, the wind on my head), love eating flies and road gravel, I love the connection between you and the road, the complete lack of any safety features knowing that if you crash you will more than likely end up dead, I even love getting a sunburnt head when I forget to take a hat. Love being able to hear, see and smell the countryside in far more detail than if you're wafting along in a diesel tin-top. Love having to concentrate on every gear change, corner, line, pot hole and cowpat, love the noises and character and everyone's car being different - it's almost like it's a living thing you have to be extra nice to on a cold morning, I love going for a drive for fun and not just to get from A to B, love the way you can forget about your worries, love that it's the only car I've driven that I don't want to put music on to drown out the monotony, I love that 40mph feels like 100mph .... it just makes you feel more alive. I hate not having it in the country with me and having to sell it on.

  9. Snap! Did the exact same thing. Same tool set as well, although I only bought the main cabinet, didn't splash out on the top chest at the time. Wish I had actually. Recently bought a cheap and cheerful combo from SGS so now have two chests and one top box. SGS one is really cheap and nasty compared to the Halfords Industrial...but can't complain for the price.

  10. I'm quite chuffed with my home brewed "splitter". I got an offcut of alloy sheet from the local coach depot.. an offcut from a bus can be quite big! ..cost £0.00 After a cardboard template or two came up with this.

  12. I bought the 6 drawer set and the 6 drawer toolbox a couple of years ago. I'd already bought the Halfords Professional socket set and found that it I split the plastic case carefully, then each side makes a fantastic drawer liner to hold the sockets and spanners in their correct, labelled position. When I'm in my garage, I suffer from CDO (which is similar to OCD: except with the letters arranged in their correct alphabetical order, just as they should be.)

  18. Yes, very funny Mr Quinten! I do have good news though, it's just that I have been on a little holiday this week, in my car of course. So, here is a sneak preview, I am working tomorrow but first thing Saturday morning I will sort it all out. I will include the fixings with the badge.

  20. Back to the Type 9 box. The 4 speed had a reputation in its day, but the 9 was thought to be a bodge. Mine has worked well until yesterday, when it decided to go into 3rd instead of 5th. Not good at 120 mph, but its proved that the engine's good to over 9,000 rpm And there's nowhere left to drive it properly on public road
