  1. Hello to all my name is Matt im 20 and im a new westfield owner Im an engineer/engine restorer from Reading. After owning a number of cars including a classic mini ,mazda mx5 and a civic type r I decided it was time to get something a little more dedicated and so I brought myself a restored 1992 narrow body westfield se, it has a standard 1.6 xflow engine (from a rs mexcio) with a 4 speed box ,rs2000 diff and English axel. I figured this was a good basis to start and learn from especially with me being so young. Over the winter I plan to tune my engine to around the 120hp mark as my job allows this easily and cheaply with the added benefit of learning more about the car. I plan on meeting with members at my local meet and being an active member of the forum offering any help I can and gaining knowledge as I go. Thanks for reading Thethorne

  2. Thanks Scott he thankfully called me about 2 minutes after I had texted him about the post. Sad news for some thankfully we escaped this event unscathed. And he's landed a job after 18 months of applying and going through the mill. Starts 2017 after his masters, so you have him as a near neighbour for some time yet oh exalted one. Again thanks for the words Bob

  5. I've been thinking of changing my car for a couple of months now (2.0 Zetec) and my heart finally won the battle over my head and I picked this up today... Westfield Megabusa. It was built by a retired mechanic and although he loves the car he's just not able to drive it, he didn't anticipate how tricky the Megabusa is to drive and it's hardly been used. I think he would have been better off with a zetec or duratec maybe. Anyway, it's not like a lot of Busa's that are stripped back for track days, it's got a windscreen and heater which I prefer, I'll fit an RAC roll bar like on my zetec so I can use the half hood and doors for the chilly mornings and wet runs (I'm just not a aeroscreen person and prefer a modest degree of comfort I'm afraid). In my younger days I had loads of superbikes and raced them too so the high revs and clunky gears don't bother me, at least not yet!

  7. The kits and rebuilds department does seem to be completely off the rails though, from a laissez faire attitude to time while processing document - it's almost like they think "oh it's just a bunch of sad bearded blokes bolting weird looking cars together in sheds, it's not important, one more day won't matter", to completely random interpretations of the actual rules, which I don't think they actually understand. Couple that with zero understanding of the the field they're in, outside their little corner so that they probably haven't even considered the broader implications of such mad cap ideas as grinding the chassis numbers off, where they are perfectly legitimate. Shocking, and time for action.
