  1. I am proud to call Steve a mate and have already said he should review his decision and stay on as a member - the club will be a poorer place without his mountain of knowledge on Westfields. I do get a little p******** off though with the comments on this thread about the decisions the committee make. How many people were queuing up to take over the vacant committee positions at this years AGM? There are loads of people prepared to knock the decisions that are made in the best interests of the club - but only a brave few who are prepared to stick their head over the fence and be counted. This thread is about The Honey Monster and the long standing problems with inboard ARB's. Let's use it to make him change his mind and leave the chosen (brave) few to make the right decisions for the club. If you disagree - put your name forward next year. (Imagines scene of people running away with hands above head whilst shouting hysterically) That's my rant over.

  2. Wholeheartedly agree with Paul. Steve I have spoken to you on the phone and seen your advice on the forum. I feel you are a valuable asset to the club. You were right in bringing your observation to the forum. However I also agree with the work Scott and other committee members do. We are indeed fortunate to have a representative from the manufacturer on the forum and should be proud of the positive relationship we as a club have with them. it is no small thing our views and opinions matter to the very people that make a fantastic product. It's the moderation work (unpaid) that our committee do to ensure this positive relationship exists and members are protected. Online lawsuits are becoming more common as companies and people are realising how damaging this kind of publicity is. The thread in question was informative and well moderated in my opinion. Giving every side an opportunity to post. The reason I like this club and especially the forum is that it is filled with mature and responsible people that are professional and passionate about their hobby. Steve you are one such person so I hope that you change your mind. Committee and moderators you are doing a great job and I for one appreciate the job you do thank you. Paul

  3. I'm saddened to hear that you feel that there's no other option but to leave us but fully support your decision and your choice to highlight this particular issue. I agree with the other comments about companies (not just WF) who getting uppity about, what they perceive to be accusatory comments; it's down to just that .. perceptions and interpretations. Seriously, I work with (against) legal beagles all the time and can see why they get paid rock star wages to deliberate over the minutia in law and libel. A word to the wise: If raising a safety concern about any component (car or otherwise), I support the decision to raise the concern amongst like-minded folk by following some simple rules. 1) Always state that you have discovered a potential issue (with the manufacturing process/component/whatever), which in your consideration, may or is likley to cause harm or injury. 2) You, in your personal opinion suspect, the cause to lie with the blah, blah, blah. 3) You advise all persons potentially affected by your discovery to check their own vehicle/whatever for same issue. 4) If found, you further advise that the person contacts the supplier/manufacturer/whoever directly to discuss their concern. 5) Do not attempt or suggest to repair/modify/whatever the issue without first speaking with the supplier/manufacturer/whoever to entitle them to provide a replacement/repair/advise/etc. The above are just my suggestions and I hope they are helpful to someone, and by no means reflect the views or position of the Club or its Committee in any way.

  8. first of all before i type this i would just like to say , i do not want to fall out with anyone especially the commitee who have been more than fair with me when i have been out of order in the past and i respect and thank them for that ,i have some very good freinds on the commitee and that have been on the commitee and in the club , i have made some fantastic freinds in the club over the years and have some memories i will never forget ,even if my memory is bad with my health issues i had my first westfield in 1997 and have been around them ever sinse as you all know , i have had some of the best moments of my life while being around the speed series and its drivers over the years so this is summat i am not taking lightly and type it with a tear in my eye as you know i posted a thread the other day about the issues with the front inboard arb's , with pictures of cracked chasssis due to these the thread is still there but needs pinning for all to see imho but i am upset and angry at the way things are dealt with these days where the club is scared of legal action from wsc about all sorts so threads like the arb thread get locked , imho the thread should at least be pinned as this is a serious safety issue a very serious one and should not just drift away off the first page ,it should be headline news , and i want to know i have done all i can to stop anyone getting hurt i know there is work going on behind the scenes to sort this out and i appreciate that i really do and all the hard work by scott and everyone else involved ,but its not fair on the club to fight the battle the world has gone legal action mad ,people need to stand up there actions instead of taking the easy option of threatening legal action ,that's the cowards way out i have openly offered my help to owners foc to give them help and piece of mind with this issue but imho wsc need to put out a statement about this and admitt there is a serious issue and not hide behind legal action and threats , they should be recalling cars right now and changing the inboard arb's , hell if toyota can do it im sure wsc could do it ,its nothing to be ashamed of at the end of the day these things happen ,owners and members would think more of you if you admitt the issues so please wsc admitt there is a problem grow some balls and speak out about it and do the right thing for your customers and the club who fully support you before summat bad happens i had a call the other day from a owner who had issues with the arb and chassis cracks a few years ago but it got brushed under the carpet after they wriggled out of it as said i am sick of all the worries of legal action and threats and not being able to post facts same as the toybox thread where they had knowingly sold a westy on a mk2 escort v5 and a mk2 escort mot but again the club had to remove and lock the thread through threats of legal action ,its just wrong members and potential owners have a right to know hell if i cant try to protect owners from serious issues and maybe even injury then i no longer want to be a part of it anymore , so i have decided to have nothing more to do with anything westfield at all , weather this is the right decision i dont know but this is how i feel at the moment i may change my mind but i doubt it at this point i have nothing against any club members or anyone on the commitee or ao's etc etc but i feel strongly about this problem ,its not for the club to sort out the issues with the arb's or fight the battle with wsc to sort it as I said earlier ,i know there is a lot going on behind the scenes i appreciate that and im greatfull for the hard work but it needs imediate action ,it should be about wsc sorting it out and doing the right thing before they have a death or serious injury on there hands due to this i will finish off the jobs i have in but then i no longer want anything to do with westfields any more it upsets me to do this but im just sick of it all and dont know what else to do so best i walk away I wear my heart on my sleeve and say what I think ,sometimes that a bad thing so thanks for the good times and memories and thank you everyone who has worked hard for the club in what ever roll i will be clearing out everything westfield over the next few weeks so keep your eyes peeled for bargains on ebay

  15. I find this forum tame compared to the Vw sites I am used to. They all have a policy statement on page one that you personally are responsible etc - none sued so far.. But then they don't tend to have the manufacturer posting on there! I have seen a lot of posts regarding over moderation and people leaving - thems the rules here and it's our choice to abide, leave or set up an alternative site which with such a small community is pointless. Forums are open to legal action so do see the clubs point but as a compromise why not give members a closed passworded only grown up 18+ area to air whatever Westfield views they want? Oh and forums can get sued... http://www.managingcommunities.com/2010/03/29/popular-community-scubaboard-sued-for-libel-and-how-to-limit-libel-claims-on-your-forums/

  16. A few things: 1) VOSA are now involved in this. They have read the original thread and are working with WSC Ltd on the matter, so it is in hand. VOSA are far more qualified to look at this independently than any of us, so again, do not speculate as to this situation as it will not be helpful and may well be moderated if you do so. 2) The original thread has not yet been pinned because no one (including Steve) asked anyone on the committee to do so - saying it's been hidden or buried when it's still plainly visible is 100% nonsense. (We are considering pinning it and in which area to do so, but it will remain locked - see above.) 3) I will never apologise for the committee doing its duty and protecting each and every one of you and the club itself from libel, defamation, or loss of revenue litigation claims from any one or from any company. (For the record, WSC Ltd has not threatened the club with litigation and they know we are taking all necessary steps to prevent libellous comments being posted on the forums.) Graham, you were told at the time in a PM you read exactly why your post was hidden - it was blatantly libellous, against the forum rules and exposed the club to litigation. Like the rest of you, I hope that Steve will change his mind and stay. He obviously feels very strongly about this as he has often done before about many issues in the past, but it would be a shame if he left just when he highlighted a potential issue that we trust VOSA will put to bed and put all of our minds at ease.

  17. well done Steve d for the information. I find it shameful that the club uses the litigation as what I see as an excuse to hide threads that don't sit well with the committee. How many forums, clubs have been sued to date ? This is an issue that owners need to be aware of but instead it's been hidden.(by that I mean buried) .I also found the response by Scot rather insulting to members in general. Vote I will , with my membership fee when due as I really feel that this club's interest isn't with its members based on the thread referred too. That's all I have to say on this. Cue censorship .

  20. I too find it a shame. 2 years ago I struggled to get on with some of your "to the point" posts, and found you a bit brutal at times- over the past couple of years, youve turned a new leaf and your posts have been nothing but informative, and definitely helpful to many members here. I think a club like this can only benefit from the knowledge that you kindly share. If this is goodbye, then fair well, and wish you the best..... Don't let bureaucracy get in between both your happiness, and that of the members here- your a great addition to the club.

As Terry says Steve it would be a sad day indeed, I'm eternally grateful for the repair you did for me at such short notice and such a fast turn around oh and as for the FOC bit my Dad and I were speechless...............Thank you.........and the best of luck. P.S. If what is under that cover behind your office ever comes up for sale mmmmmm

  22. It will be very sad to see you go Steve as you have helped a lot of people with advice and car repairs after shunts etc and you service will leave a gap that few others can deal with. I hope this can be sorted out before your decision becomes final as I for one have enjoyed you being in the paddock and also competing as part of the Westfield club. Best of luck wuv!

  23. The route we took that time was from Aboyne to Potarch , along the "old Military road to the B976 turned right then left and headed to the B974 which is the Cairn 'O"Mount road from Banchory to Fettercairn and Edzell. I think you guys then went through Edzell and Montrose etc back home rather than the A90 Dual carriageway.
