Member types are sorted into User Groups. These are: 
  
Administrator 
Area Organiser 
Banned 
Guest (lapsed members) 
Joint WSCC Member 
Moderator 
Organiser (club functions) 
Paid Extended Trial Member (60 Day Full Membership) 
Speed Event Organiser 
Speed Series Competitor 
Trial Club Member (30 days or 50 posts, whichever occurs first) 
Validating (awaiting new member to validate their email address) 
WSCC Life Member 
WSCC Member 
WSCC Sponsor 
WSCC Trader 
WW Advertiser 
  
So 17 different User Groups that have to be administered.  Each User Group has varying levels of permissions (or blocks) and access to (or from) the forum, and abilities to view (or not view) areas with regards to front of house and / or backstage. 
  
The total number of Life Members is 7.  These are people who have done an extraordinary amount of work over many years for the club, and are appointed Life Members by committee nomination and vote.  As to whether it is a reward or a punishment, the answer is yes.
