  2. I go to Malta a couple of times a year with work. Really in to their cars. They also have a great drag racing team that comes over to SantaPod for the FIA finals What's great is the sun makes the tarmac super smooth and shiny so you can get tyre squeal at about 10 mph. Childish but kept me amused.

  4. Theres no reason why you can't install one yourself, its not really that difficult providing you have suitable knowledge and as this works is notifiable you must submit a Building Regulations for them to oversee the installation. However if you're unsure then use a HETAS registered installer who can self certify their installation. In summary, there's several considerations when installing them yourself. The size and construction of the hearth The position of the appliance on the hearth The clearance distance to walls and the fire recess The type and diameter of the flue The method of insulating the flue Provision of sufficient combustion ventilation The height of the chimney, it's position on the roof and relationship to neighbouring buildings And you'll need a CO2 alarm If in doubt, ask your friendly building inspector for advice at the next monthly meet

  5. Scott, don't take my little echo away. He's lovely just..... like that, like that, like that, like that, like that, like that HM has just walked in and says I need to get a life. I've no idea what she means.

  6. Hey Echoz, where are you mate? how old are you? can you tow and are you pretty? Theres room in my truck for one more body but you will have to sit on my lap in the tractor (the lads call it the Jimmy Saville mobile..... Now then, now then...) Seriously, if you can get to Northampton next week we have a taster day on the 17th with guest from the WSCC. We also work all over the UK and Europe cutting wood and climbing stuff. It a minimum wage job for the groundies and those with no tickets but within a decade you could be earning £8 an hour and within 15 years £12 an hour so it pays well. When we are cutting (from Sep 1st to March 1st) we work 14 hours a day 6 days a week. then we have April to September either at home relaxing or climbing in Australia/NZ. At the moment we are felling lakeside tree's and get £7.65/tree for felling, sending, cutting to 3m length and hauling to roadside (1m +) - it's all piece work but if you crack on you can clear 200 tree's a day between a team of 4 skins. You can do the maths. Less your fuel, insurance, renewals and repairs, PPE and food (i eat 6,000 calories a day and my food bill in tescos is £300 a week) you can still make a good turn. I was an Underwriter for an Agency to Allianz AG in London, Munich and Paris for nearly 10 years, pin stripe suit, wine bar di*k and all that - took up tree work as I CHOSE to do it and since then havent looked back - no day feels like work as it's just very enjoyable but it isnt for everyone. I know have a brewery and make all my own beer and cider and get to spend 365 days a year outside - i love it. It has it's stresses but if you need a change and a career where it's up to you how much you earn and when you want to earn it then it's great. PM me if you want any further help... 7. OK, OK, I know, bad pun... I'll get me coat. One of the perks of being MemSec is that I get to converse with members around the globe, who love sharing their passion. Just renewed the membership of "rbrincat", who lives in Malta (and was an extra in Gladiator!). If you've never been to Malta, they are absolutely car nuts - I think it's where old British cars go to retire, never seen so many Anglias, Cortinas. Mk1 Escorts, Poplars, Zephyrs, etc., a bit like Cuba is with Yank tanks only better. Anyway, they have a 7s club in Malta, and Ryan's car is in some photos on their Facebook page, so take a minute to have a look and a "like", and pass on the WSCC lurve to him. I'm sure if you're going to Malta and PM him in advance, he and his friends in the Malta 7s Club would make you welcome. Clicky

  8. I'm just a dumfkop who hasn't a hope in fully understanding our universe. But, I'm truly in awe of the facts and images about it all. We have little light pollution here and on moonless nights in the summer I can stand outside for hours just looking up at the edge of the milky way. HM goes outside most night when it's clear (summer or winter) to view the night sky and she's learning what they are all called. The one man who gave me some idea about what it all was has just left us for his voyage in space.

  10. STOP Enough. The committee have made a decision. Right or wrong we, the members, should accept it and stand by it. If after 6 or 12 months it proves to have been the wrong decision they can change it. However, as far as I can see it's working already with a few non-members re-joining (or joining). So far the committee have made changes to the original proposals so they are listening. I have full trust in their decision so please stop this bickering. Signed, Happy form France

  11. Oh yes Kingston, the rules that they will have 30 days or 20 posts will be quite clear when people sign up for Trial Club Membership, not to worry. I can only hope they read the rules and understand them when they do so...you can lead a horse to water, but it takes real effort to drown them.

  17. I lurk weekly if not daily but rarely post. Nothing has fustrated me more than these threads complaining about changes which appear to me to be fair but could and I'm sure would be changed if after a trial period it was found to disadvantage or adversely effect the club. The point I feel is missed by many complaining here is that this is a club and clubs require a revenue to operate and provide the great events and facilities to its members including this boardroom. I get a lot out of reading posts but for my own reasons don't feel I have much to offer in terms of replying to most of them. I do however realize that people are giving up their own time to facilitate the boardroom, mag and various events and as way of support I gladly pay my membership. This makes me feel a club member because I am a club member! If I didn't pay I would probably receive the exact same in every respect but wouldn't be supporting the very thing I am utalizing which feels to me to be very unfair and unsupportive. It's a choice thing and for me I feel support should be shown to the club and its committee in the best way possible, by paying the small fee which enables more of the same. The negitives being posted are haming and confusing the club and its members. If you don't like it, don't pay! If youre unsure, continue to pay and support the club and evaluate its success in 12 months time! People didn't like the changes to the web site until they understood and used it, what's the difference? The subs are supporting a national club. Local areas are introducing face book and the like which I understand to be free so there are options. Sorry to take up more page space but I really feel strongly about this and just wish people would give things and other members a chance before criticising. This was in no way an attempt to increase my dismal post count

  18. Beat me to it. I wandered over to the computer and noticed the title (even though I've read it a dozen or more times) and was going to point that the OP wasn't barred. I don't understand that, if I'm "banned" how come I can still post. Oh, sorry, wrong forum.
