Just an apology for absence really, some ( but not all) are aware I have mental health issues, well it hit me again and only this last few days/weeks have I begun to engage with the world again ( sounds stupid but that's how it is) I need to be somewhere that I am familiar with again, and here is really were I should belong. So expect more mayhem from me , lots of car changes have happened since I was last on here and I will post those as and when . catch you around folks. Regards Richard.

In good company at Goodwood 100 Breakfast Club this morning. Great turnout and varied selection of cars and bikes.

This cool dude @Glynn Walters has done a very impressive job of fitting another 1.8 litre mk2.5 MX5 NB engine into his car, only this one has got a turbo fitted to it whoosh, it didn't overheat and nothing fell off, so Glynn was pleased to get some 'running in' miles done. Well engineered Glynn, for someone that works full time, you have really trapped on and got it done, in no time at all you are back out in Gnasher, great. Early bird got the worm, bagging the best parking spot The others soon lined up and after a closed A38, Stuart did make the mammoth journey to join us too, along with Mark and Sonia in the SLK. The museum's gathering was well attended and also included 'Morgans in May' With Tony in his tin top, and Dave and Andy having to scoot off, that left the rest of us to go on the run out, keeping a careful eye on the black clouds, thankfully we were blessed with sunshine all the way and even got home in the dry. In the absence of all 3 Andy's we kept up the tradition of supporting the local cake industry going at Hulme End. The monkeys tea party Parked at Hulme End I am sorry @Stuart that I didn't get a photo of your car, it was lovely to see you and let's hope it's easier for you next time. Tony @TM54, always lovely to see you and hope the lowered floor is a success. Dry run this weekend in the tintop to make any updates necessary to the road book, I had forgotten just how good this route is! you guys participating are going to really enjoy it, the scenery is stunning but I did struggle today with pictures 😅 a few better ones 😎

Great day out as usual. Lovely catch up with people and a fantastic route through the Peaks. T-shirt weather as well.. life is good.

Really loving my time with the car (nearly 2 weeks in). Naturally helped by the perfectly timed change in the weather! Slowly building up my 'feel' of the car. The car always looked mega, came from a wonderful source and was also known via this club to be maintained on a no-expense-spared basis - but that hasn't stopped me wanting to build up my own trust in the cars abilities and reliability patterns. I've therefore been building up the length of my runs out, carrying out routine checks, and generally just gaining more confidence after each trip. Pleased to report it's been fantastic. Hot and cold starting is effortless, it's leak free, handles like a dream, and basically just a joy to own. Carried out a couple of small additions so far - a hard wired CTEK MXS and a small suction rear view mirror as I found I needed a bit more rear visibility aside from the side mirrors. Reactions are great aren't they! Always had positive reactions with cars such as the Elise in the past, but the amount of double-takes, point-and-stare reactions and thumbs up are on another level. Wife and kids currently having to draw straws on who's next to be the passenger, which is great as it's proving to be fun for everyone as I'd hoped for. Finally, a nice self indulgent pic to round off the post.

Perfect weather for a Peaks run today! 9am just south of Derby with Ben, Dan, Lee, James, Paul and myself. Tim joined us as we were setting off. A quick stop north of Derby to collect new member Mark and we headed for the wide open spaces of Derbyshire! A good hours worth of fun B road blatting before landing at Monyash to find it rammed full of bikes! Having spent so many days out with @Julie Hall - WSCC AO Representative , the internal satnav kicked in and I diverted the long way round to the Bull 'i Thorn where Glynn joined us maming whooshing noises.... hopefully it's just his new turbo 😂 The Bull 'I Thorn used to be a regular haunt of ours but we hadn't been back since its reopening. Glad we did as the breakfasts were lovely and could sit out in the sunshine to stuff our faces! When everyone was suitably refreshed, the gang started to head their seperate ways so I took the opportunity to give Mark a sample of 9,000rpm with a quick passemger ride. Having come from bikes and owned some fast Porsches, Mark is already thinking about upgrades to his ITB'd Zetec 😂 Mark also fancied stretching the legs of his car a little now he was getting used to it, so the two of us had a more spirited little convoy on the way home until he peeled off near Derby. Cracking day out, hope you all had a laugh and got home safely 👍

A fantastic day at sunny hunny with me, bigfoot aka tony and his wife. We spent the day there and are very sun burnt. Met loads of people who took pictures of our cars plus a traffic warden. Sadly not a big turnout but we put westfields in peoples minds.

Sorted. Just need to change the oil filter and fill him up and we are good. It was an almost perfect fit, just had to adjust a couple of the brackets. EDIT Just found the invoice for the original and it was 23 years old, so hadn’t done badly at all!

Firstly, how many of you have owned, then sold your Westfield, to then regret it and then up buying another one further down the line? You see, I'm fickle and an impulse purchaser of many different things in my life and my Westfield was no exception to that. 2 years ago I woke up on a Saturday morning and completely out of the blue and thought to myself. I wouldn't mind owning one of those Westfield's and the following week I bought the one I have now. I few other examples of past purchase history impulse buying. I had a lovely Mercedes, I really liked it and I took it in for it's service. On the way to the service counter I passed another one which looked nice, 2 hours later and I'm now the owner of different but perfectly nice Mercedes. Several years ago a friend of mine had a Jaguar XKR, he took me out in it, he turned the TC off, I strongly advised him not to do it and well. We ended up in a tree, the car was smashed to bits, BUT the car was brillent (before he put it head on into a tree of course)! Two weeks later I bought one myself for a weekend car. Supercharged V8 through a stainless steel system was such an amazing sound. My wife loved that car too, especially when she was heavily pregnant, because to drive, it was such a nice car for her to get in and out of and with loads of room. More recently (Aug 23) I woke up one morning at 04:30am, decided I wanted to buy a Mazda MX5 for the track and by 07:15am I was at a chaps house and now the the new owner of it. And just like all the many impulse purchases in my life, I got bored and sold them. The MX5 went last month, I did a few trackdays and got bored. The Westfield has lasted a while for me and I'm not......'bored' I just get itchy feet. I've driven it loads! That's another side to my personality, I get into something (whatever it is) and I just absolutely go full beans addictive at it. If I got into knitting, I'd make everyone on this forum a jumper within a week! It's a fantastic car, drives lovely, it's an absolute head turner and if I'm honest, I really like the attention and it sounds great too. Plus, I love the social side that it's offered, I've met some fantastic people and I've now got some great friends too. I'm not sure if I want to try something else for a while, but not entirely sure what. But this could be one I regret selling if I did sell it. So, back to my first line. Who's regretted and bought again?

Stuart, yes I bought it off Mark. It does have some nice fancy bits on the car and I've added to it too. One of the 'things' I've done is, I put a light weight flywheel, on it over the winter break, new 4 paddle clutch plate and that's made a fantastic difference. It wasn't cheap either, so the placebo effect is definitely telling me it's made a fantastic difference. 😁

I know plenty that have happily moved on to the next project. But they usually divide up into certain groups, the “I’ve developed the car as far as I possibly can” group, the very low use “it’s only got annual mileage to and from the MoT” group, the “I enjoyed it, but the novelty has worn off” or “I like it but struggling with health to use it” groups etc. Then you have the other side of things, the “itchy feet” group; often used to changing regular cars every two or three years, who do still use and enjoy the car, but have other car related boxes they want to tick. I understand fully the desire to try something else, if only to satisfy curiosity. Sometimes the grass is greener, but a surprisingly high number end up coming back to Westfield’s. - sometimes finding that they struggle to recapture quite the attachment they had to that first car! It sometimes takes a few goes to find a new Westfield that’s the right fit for them.

Bought one in 1994, owned it for about 14 years, crashed it, sold it to a mate who did it up and he owned it for about 14 years. When he wanted to sell it, I couldn’t bear to see it likely disappear to France so I bought it back a year or so ago. Won’t be selling it again 🤪. It will hopefully go to my son when I am too decrepit to drive it!

Between my second and third westfield I went for a week without one, the garage was empty….. it was a horrible week 🥲

What a beautiful evening for a meet! This was my 3rd test drive of my new ITB's so had left early to properly stretched her legs on the local B roads. I'd just pulled up when Glynn landed in his newly upgraded car making whooshy noises! The gorgeous fully forged Mazda 1.8 with a big snail. My new ITB install. Over the next 20 minutes we were joined by Steve and Gavin in convoy, quickly followed by James (at his first pub meet), Dan and Matt. James owns the lovely yellow MX5 engined car we had spotted at Curborough at the weekend so was great to finally meet in person! Emma, Howard, Alex, Iain, Hedley, Martyn, Dom and Ben had also come along in their tintops. Shortly after Claire and Joolz pulled in sporting huge grins after Claire's recent trackday at Donington. Sounds like you had fun!! As we were chatting, we get the amazing sight of a Westfield XI pulling in! Roger had come along to his first meet in his beautiful BRG A series engined car. Most of us had spent that long in the car park we missed out on food when we eventually got into the pub! 😂 Later we were also joined by Mark, our third pub meet newbie who had recently sampled the Peaks meets with Julie. As usual we had loads of upgrade talk. Iain is in the middle of an engine swap (that a few of us are helping with), James is collecting parts to supercharge his MX5 engine and Mark is already itching for a bit more power from his ITB'd Zetec. Malvern was a big topic of conversation, seems we have load of locals going along and quite a few volunteers. Excitement is definitely building! Lovely to see everyone, hope you all got home safely. Also, great to meet James, Mark and Roger, hope you enjoyed the evening and that we made you feel welcome 👍

Just to close this thread off, it did indeed appear that their website threw a wobbly when it said failed, but now I have a green box on the checker website - yay. Matter closed.

Modern have Independent too. But I have read in that time Westfield need to do sth different to be different . And did that in good direction. MNR well I have to like it as I am building one but its not so smile realase desingn as Westfield's. Not metion so helpfull and friendly community as for Westfields! I am proud to have WSCC stickers on Westfields. And - You look at Westfield and just smile ! I love that topic just too look at all that cars . Powerfull antidepressant
