@Stuart Thanks Stuart, I am prepared to give it another go, but I can't find the deflectors I made years ago, kind of thinking I binned them thinking well the doors are staying on, so why have these anymore. Searched everywhere, maybe they will turn up when I least expect it. I have to make mine ( and the doors) as I have a cat 7 windscreen frame and the rake is slightly different to a Westys one, also its taller as well.
-
@Richard (OldStager) I very rarely take my sidescreens off. Find it much more comfortable that way (even though I have some wind deflectors)
-
I forgot about my wind deflectors, not sure where they are now, thanks for the reminder.

Recent snap of your Westfield

It’s certainly the full experience with them off. So long as it’s warm, not raining and you aren’t on Motorways then I enjoy it more. I just had the little wind deflectors on for our Exmoor trip and it was lively, my hat even stayed on! When it warmed up, I took them off for some more fresh air but need to reverse the baseball cap and look a right idiot for it to stay on! 🤣 - Today

Having tried both in the past I am inclined to agree with you. I have a friend calling next weekend, so as long as the weather plays ball, I will remove them again and see.
-
I prefer the look of our cars with the doors off but the driving experience in my opinion is better with them on! 🤷♂️
-
Lots of doorless cars here, do I need to take some brave pills ?

The best runs out always produce that, hope it's going well.

Loton used to my most local one ( until I moved ) , great track and I loved every run. Well done , very jealous if I'm honest ( sadly funds dictate my competition days are over for the time being)
-
Glorious days hill climbing at wiscombe park, bluebells in the forest section and ice cream while you wait for your next go. My local race venue, shame it isnt in the speed series.

Fab thanks Richard

Westfield Mega S2000 & Covered Trailer for sale

Oh no, didn't expect this @Scotty72! Stunning car though mate, someone will be getting an awesome motor 👌 -
@RichardS1 For reference the one I used was a Thinkware F70. I chose this one as it was both relatively inexpensive and came top in the online reviews I saw , in the budget range of cams out there. To get the speed cam and road info you do have to purchase the additional GPS unit, which I think is built in to the higher models. Be aware though should you mount it "upside down " to it's intended mounted position, the video produced will also be upside down , something that free software on the net can resolve , it just means added work to do.

That looks great, thanks Richard - and some good pointers for things I’ll need to consider when finding the right dashcam. Thanks again
-
If you check out some of my last few entries on my build page you will see where my cam is and the resulting video - not perfect yet but I'm getting there.
-
That’s fantastic, thanks Ansoeb, Richard and Marcus for your guidance - really appreciate it.

Wiring 12v power socket
Marcus Barlow - Show and Events Co-ordinator replied to PeP's topic in The Start Line
I used a spare 3pin loom connector under dash for a 12 v charge socket see here : -
Hello and welcome to the club, you have certainly joined the right place for tech help. I also commend you on trying to sort the issue in hand out yourself, it's what owning these cars is all about ( for me at least) . I recently fitted a dashcam and connected to the igni live circuit, so power the car up and the cam is active. I would be interested into know what ( should you fit one ) dashcam you went for as well, since "our" cars have far smaller screens than production cars, instead of mounting mine on the screen , I went for mounting to the dash ( after all its called a dashcam right ... ) Your idea to use the heater feed cable is indeed feasible, as long as you don't inadvertently knock that switch to off and lose any recordings you wish to make ( be that cam or gopro) . Hope it all goes well and post up your results.

This might help, take you time reading though it. I was a complete novice last year also. 4833 Chassis Harness.pdf

For @Blatman, this is just one of many on the subject, for me currently Terraforming Mars is a no go , perhaps one day far in the future we may just succeed but I and you will be long gone to ever find out about it.
