    Running slooooooow again…

Please bear with us while we try and fix this. We know it’s frustrating for everyone.
  3. Richard (OldStager)

TT starts today for the next two weeks.

Yes, there is only Michael left now, he is still racing though despite having more than first hand knowledge of the risks, as I said above its a drug, and some folks can never stop - until stopped.

    A personal conundrum...

As was my grandads Hunter, but have you ever driven a Herald/Spitfire or Vitesse with them on, I have , well a Spitty and a Vitesse anyway, and with the front lifting bonnets not really being a part of the structure ( actually no body panels are as they are all bolt on) the wing mounted mirrors just vibrate and wobble about giving nothing more than a very vague image that could be a car or a house or anything else, in other words useless, lol... The vitesse wasn't mine but a restoration company, who lent it to me to hillclimb, it was driven to events as well and after the first event I asked if I could fit one door mirror and the guy said yes as he also had vision problems with the others. So no, wing mounted mirrors on front hinged bonnets are no good to me, folks fit them more for show than function. Just weighing up whether rectangular or round mirrors would make the best door mirrors?. Hmmmmm. Mirrors are extended as he towed caravans.

  6. Man On The Clapham Omnibus

TT starts today for the next two weeks.

I watched a film of the history of the Dunlop clan of racers yesterday 'Road' on London Live channel. They're utterly addicted unto death - literally in their case. Very disturbing and moving.
  7. Man On The Clapham Omnibus

    A personal conundrum...

Wing mounted mirrors would be perfectly in keeping with the period. Door mirrors were fitted to the driver's side only at first and with plane glass to avoid size distortion. That would be about the early 1970s time. My 1971 Hillman Hunter with a pair of the last batch of wing mounted mirrors of the era.

Right then. With the help of @ACW who runs the hardware side of things and is super knowledgeable when it comes to the dark arts, we have made some changes that will hopefully help the situation. 🤞

Have you done a search? Wait a minute…
  14. Here is my factory built Westfield Seight 3.9 EFI with 5-speed (LT77 if I remember correctly) gearbox and limited slip differential. The mileage is 26,000 or thereabouts, accumulated mostly on trips abroad and to Le Mans by the previous owner. The stickers I have left in the footwell illustrate its travels. It starts first time and the lovely V8 is in fine condition. I understand it is fitted with a fast road camshaft although I can't confirm this. Oil changes have been done every 1000 miles and last year all oils and fluids were replaced. The wheels are minilites and tyres are 195/55R15 Toyo Proxes. It comes complete with the full Westfield hood and sidecreens. The underslung exhaust is stainless steel. Wishbones and springs are chromed. It has a uprated SPAL cooling fan with manual override. The leather seats are very comfortable and ideally suited to touring. Note - the steering wheel is now a lovely leather and aluminium Mota-Lita on a Rapfix quick release. The harnesses are now Willans in black. You can see both in the first photo. The car is curently on the lift having the windscreen replaced because it developed a crack. Once the glass is here and fitted it will be for sale. This wonderfull car is showing some signs of age of course, but scrubs up really well and is a total delight. Mechanically it is in excellent order and the roar and sheer power of the engine are something else. Nothing comes close! This batch of photographs are a mixture of the car last year, some as it was when I bought it in 2018, one in 2019 and one showing the new stainless steel cycle wing supports. Up-to-date photos will be added just as soon as the windscreen is repaired and it is off the ramps. I haven't quite decided on the right price but offers around £15,000 would seem fair. This Seight has been a thrilling part of my driving experience for the last six years, but the time has come to pass it on. I hope someone gets to have as much fun as we have. Thank you. Nic. Road trip 2023 My (very tall) friend 2023 Road trip 2023 As was in 2019 As was just after purchase in 2018 As was just after purchase in 2018 Stainless steel cycle wing brackets being fitted 2020

    Pembrey sprint 1/2 June

Thanks for your concern. The NHS was immaculate, all sorts of tests, diagnosis confirmed, continue to take the tablets and should be OK. But not sure when I'll next be out in the Westfield. Strictly speaking I have Giant cell arteritis.

    Running slooooooow again…

The forum has one or two issues, so it may have not uploaded your request in the time you are used to, it takes a bit longer at the moment.

Not sure if it’s linked but I’ve just tried pasting copied links to a couple of websites onto a post and find it doesn’t work! Always possible it’s just me, but who knows!

It is annoying but at least this does work, seen updates completely down a forum, as soon as rebooted...

    Running slooooooow again…

Yeah there’s a particular search query that was logged that took a long time to return a result. Not sure if that’s the root cause, but posted a report to the invision community on an existing thread where others have reported slow running. Seems the last software update may have a bug. No idea how long they will take to react. It’s getting very annoying now!
  26. Richard (OldStager)

    Running slooooooow again…

yes same here, there is a pattern, basically from 1 to 3.30 - 4 ish and now, so 5.30 onwards, plus or minus the odd 30 mins same as yesterday. One post took 22 seconds to be accepted, so definitely a loading issue as was said already, something in the software is doing something causing the high CPU loading as reported already. I wonder if you can get to interrogate the routines and see what runs during those periods, I have no experience with Invision boards, only their very early IRC software 20 odd years ago.

    A personal conundrum...

I'd be with you on that one, specially if a reasonably sympathetic mirror could be found that fit.
