  2. @Howard As a kid I dreamt for a Montesa Cota 348, but in NZ back in those days a European bike was a rare thing - a Yamaha TY was as close as I got.

Didn’t know @aeg particularly liked cows so here is a photo of our new neighbours. 😁 Seem like a friendly bunch and saves on the Green recycling.

  6. Glynn Walters

Bank Holiday Monday 6th May, Car Museum meet, 10am

Thanks Julie great run out👍 Although unfortunately for me it’s not a 2.5 litre 😂 just a 1.8 litre mk2.5 NB engine same as before but with added whooshy bits!

This cool dude @Glynn Walters has done a very impressive job of fitting another 2.5 litre MX5 NB engine into his car, only this one has got a turbo fitted to it whoosh, it didn't overheat and nothing fell off, so Glynn was pleased to get some 'running in' miles done. Well engineered Glynn, for someone that works full time, you have really trapped on and got it done, in no time at all you are back out in Gnasher, great. Early bird got the worm, bagging the best parking spot The others soon lined up and after a closed A38, Stuart did make the mammoth journey to join us too, along with Mark and Sonia in the SLK. The museum's gathering was well attended and also included 'Morgans in May' With Tony in his tin top, and Dave and Andy having to scoot off, that left the rest of us to go on the run out, keeping a careful eye on the black clouds, thankfully we were blessed with sunshine all the way and even got home in the dry. In the absence of all 3 Andy's we kept up the tradition of supporting the local cake industry going at Hulme End. The monkeys tea party Parked at Hulme End I am sorry @Stuart that I didn't get a photo of your car, it was lovely to see you and let's hope it's easier for you next time. Tony @TM54, always lovely to see you and hope the lowered floor is a success. Lastly @Mark zawada, thank you for bringing Sonia, keep her warm and cover those ears and let's see you both on The Long Way North 2, you will make great memories together. Thanks for coming everyone, see you next time xxx

Hi Euan. I know about the Wings and Wheels day they hold there but hadn't seen they were holding regular meetings, I drive past there every day to work as well thanks. I think the Hut meetings were mentioned in the Surrey section report. I do need to get my car back on the road first but hopefully it won't be too long.

Great amount of info learned already, scrolling through this forum. Since purchasing the car, the ignition key has been difficult to use. Worst is removing, very tough. Seen this is a potential right pain, so new one ordered Hopefully the correct one, I followed a link someone shared

  12. With retirement and a change in priorities (currently converting a Mercedes Sprinter into a camper to enable us to spend much of our time in Europe) time has come to sell my beloved Westfield. Built by myself (qualified engineer) originally as a Ford based SDV and first registered on age related plates (J reg) in 2006 with a 2.0 Silver top Zetec I kept the specification pretty much as first built until lockdown happened and in need of a new challenge and project I decided to focus on the Westfield and carry out a major transformation as detailed below which cost almost £7k nett after selling removed parts. Really loving my time with the car (nearly 2 weeks in). Naturally helped by the perfectly timed change in the weather! Slowly building up my 'feel' of the car. The car always looked mega, came from a wonderful source and was also known via this club to be maintained on a no-expense-spared basis - but that hasn't stopped me wanting to build up my own trust in the cars abilities and reliability patterns. I've therefore been building up the length of my runs out, carrying out routine checks, and generally just gaining more confidence after each trip. Pleased to report it's been fantastic. Hot and cold starting is effortless, it's leak free, handles like a dream, and basically just a joy to own. Carried out a couple of small additions so far - a hard wired CTEK MXS and a small suction rear view mirror as I found I needed a bit more rear visibility aside from the side mirrors. Reactions are great aren't they! Always had positive reactions with cars such as the Elise in the past, but the amount of double-takes, point-and-stare reactions and thumbs up are on another level. Wife and kids currently having to draw straws on who's next to be the passenger, which is great as it's proving to be fun for everyone as I'd hoped for. Finally, a nice self indulgent pic to round off the post.

I'm just West of Alton so not a huge distance from you... have a look on FB for Wheels of Wallop. They run the meets at the Museum of Army Flying at Middle Wallop. They seem a really friendly lot. Also look at Caffeine and Machine's "The Hut" they're doing a Caterham night on the 13th that I'm planning to "gatecrash".
  18. I'm interested to know if there are any owners near me in Andover ? If I want to attend any of the local area meets my nearest are the Hampshire IOW area which is about an hour away and possibly Surrey area. Going down to Lee on the Solent is a bit of a trek on a school night although would be fun on a nice Summer evening. I believe there used to be a meeting near Romsey but people on the map that are close are currently SORN.

    FW Luggage rack

    No problem.
  23. Richard (OldStager)

    FW Luggage rack

@Chris Larner No sorry as I suspected the soft top fits too close to the body at that point, real shame that.
  24. Richard (OldStager)

    FW Luggage rack

Thank you, darn a quarter inch too wide, I know why, mines a narrow body and although I have no issues with it overhanging the wheel arches by a 1/4" each side, this means I can't use the soft top . So thank you again for measuring that , I appreciate it. Edit to add Let me put the soft top up and see because I may get away with it, but was reminded when I saw the poppers on the body. Will get back to you.
  25. Chris Larner

    FW Luggage rack

Bad pic but hope that helps. All in cm and approx.
