Sorted. Just need to change the oil filter and fill him up and we are good. It was an almost perfect fit, just had to adjust a couple of the brackets. -

If he’s reasonably tech savvy that should be ok. 👍 -
Thanks for that. Last year I asked at national tyres and the guy said he couldn't get past the first screen.Vot is your car! I tried to put forward that maybe there is a base setting to allow you to adjust to your own specs but he was adamant it wasn't possible.

Thanks @Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman, a job for this evening then, Andy is fairly tech savvy but not likely to use the forum much at this stage, I thought it would be a good idea while I'm still here ( not planning on "going anywhere" BTW) and then he has his own access to not only help from everyone on here but can the read my build page to see what I did regarding part XXX or whatever, besides which he likes to know what I am tinkering with when he calls so I can now point him here. What I had planned was ( as you suggested) log out of here, go to the create an account page ( not sure where that is now, but I'll find it) do a username and password , then at this point I have a username to sign up with ( I think its what I did originally ?) once done , I will email him the username and password under the proviso he changes that password immediately ( I don't need to know it) . Then we're done as I see it. If that sounds ok then a job for tonight. -
The Meandering Thoughts of a Fickle Mind & Potential Regret (Anyone Else Like Me?)
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman replied to Westygav's topic in The Start Line
I know plenty that have happily moved on to the next project. But they usually divide up into certain groups, the “I’ve developed the car as far as I possibly can” group, the very low use “it’s only got annual mileage to and from the MoT” group, the “I enjoyed it, but the novelty has worn off” or “I like it but struggling with health to use it” groups etc. Then you have the other side of things, the “itchy feet” group; often used to changing regular cars every two or three years, who do still use and enjoy the car, but have other car related boxes they want to tick. I understand fully the desire to try something else, if only to satisfy curiosity. Sometimes the grass is greener, but a surprisingly high number end up coming back to Westfield’s. - sometimes finding that they struggle to recapture quite the attachment they had to that first car! It sometimes takes a few goes to find a new Westfield that’s the right fit for them. -
New member question
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman replied to Richard (OldStager)'s topic in Membership Information ONLY
In principle, there’s no problem with this. In practice, we see issues arise occasionally, depending just how “un savvy” the third person is! Incidentally on a separate, but slightly related note, members are perfectly legitimately able to transfer their balance of membership over to another person, when selling the car. Most don’t, and like to stay on for a while, but the option is there. (Needs to be done via the Membership Sec for anyone looking to do it.) But back to the question. Physically all that needs to be done is from a machine not logged on to the forum, create a new log on name, using a different email address, and set a password. Once that log on has been created, the new account has a month to upgrade from free trial to a paid member, via the shop tab near the top of the forums main page. And that’s essentially it. Where it gets complicated! (This is rare, but…) The biggest support issues come when a friend or family member tries to help someone who really doesn’t know what they’re doing, and panics around technology, by not just doing it for them, but doing it from their machine, not the device belonging to the new member they’re trying to help! So, whether it’s a phone, laptop or tablet, always use their machine, that way, all the cookies that get set when you register will be on the device they’re going to use, and the forum will “recognise” them. (And you can help them by ticking the “remember me” option when logging in to their account. It’s fine to do the actual process for them. But try and talk them through what you’re doing, as you go. -
Hi , I wish to purchase a membership for a very good friend as not only is he a fellow petrolhead but he will be the owner of my car one day ( I'm never selling it BTW so .... ) Can I create a username myself for him or does he have to do it?. I have in days gone by set accounts up for folks who were not very tech savvy, but got into trouble for it even though the account was for my sister at the time. So just checking here first before I do. Besides which I don't know how the forum handles IP addresses and since we are 80 miles apart I don't want to mess things up.. Cheers Richard.

I have both carbon and brand new black grp

Well said that man.

Yeah I've had a better look at some pics of them and see what you mean with how big it is as that would cause serious issues with ground clearance. Think I better start saving up for a dry sump kit lol!

That’s a beaut, waited 30 years for mine & want to be buried in it or leave to my Grandson plus just on the off-chance you do take up knitting - could I be 1st to order a jumper in Chrome Yellow with black sleeves in XXXL - funds available 🙏🫶🏼👍 -
No mate, but vehicle identification wasn’t needed - but a couple of points to consider - contacted 20 + local garages - 3 said yes they can - got there & find they couldn’t - so Chemix Autocentre in Wednesfield - 3 miles from Wolves sorted it - I removed cycle wings on car park & they manually program the reading’s - toe in/out + chamber etc luckily the chamber was within literally within tolerance (1 corner was 1min out) didn’t alter as it was in NSR & no work been done on rear of car (plan for Xmas 24) - toe in however was way out. I had original set up tolerances + previous print outs which was then input on the PC & once completed have the readings on print-out. Happy Days 🫶🏼

It’s also a timing decision I guess. You would get best price for it now, but would miss out using it through the summer when they are at their best. It looks a cracking car, hard to replace in terms of driving experience. -
I wouldn’t recommend a bat wing sump. original install by VX would have the engine installed at an angle, ie not vertical. In a westie the engine is vertical. So the extra width of the bat wing gets it really close to the ground at one side viewed from front and better, probably close to the SBD sump on the right. The front face of the sump, again viewed from front, is almost double (from memory) that of SBD sump. As I said above, on road this is not advisable! Track you may get away with it but ride height still limited because of sump. I would say oil cooler possible for high power or turbo install. If std or on TB dry sump is the way forward Andy

The Meandering Thoughts of a Fickle Mind & Potential Regret (Anyone Else Like Me?)
Westygav replied to Westygav's topic in The Start Line
I guess it’s a nice problem to have isn’t it, which toy car to have! The fact that I’m thinking I might regret it, is a pretty good indicator I suppose. I think if there was something else that I absolutely had my heart set on, then that would make the decision easier. The trouble with me is, once I’ve planted my own ‘mind seed’ I find it very difficult to shake off. So difficult that I’ve never actually managed to shake it off in the past. I’ll see what this next month holds for me. -
Can I just ask,did they have a Westfield/7 in the settings for the Hunter? Thanks.

Yep, regret selling my Westie after 10 years of fun. But to be fair don't regret replacement ND MX5, as I use it for general outings and sprightly driving all the time. Now I'm partially retired and drawing my pension, I'm concentrating spends on 'active' pastimes and trips while am able (mtb / skiing / walking) Desperate for another 'kit' but will have to wait a few years (and values drop signifcantly) before there's space. But back to OPs "fickleness" yes I can be impulsive for purchasing my next 'thing' but probably tempered a bit more by attempting to get my perfect 'thing' 😁 If I had more 'disposable' funds I'd be a nightmare of impulsiveness!!!! 🤣 -
