Kit car registered as a MEC One?
RickRack replied to Rob Hunter - Club Secretary 's topic in The Start Line
Hi Malcolm, hope you got home safe & dry from the Black Country meet. Was great to see it in the flesh & have a chat around a superb piece of automotive innovation. Are taking it to Malvern? If so, maybe you could commission Price MEC Two or Three if thereโs any takers at the show. ATB Phil R -

Hi Malcolm, It was good to see you and your car at the most recent Black Country Area meet. Shame I couldn't be at Curborough to catch up with you again. Clearly, you have spiked the interest of some of our members who were at Curborough though! Hope to catch up with you again over the summer. -

Congrats on MOT, not sure what the weather is supposed to be, I tend to just look out of the window these days... Hoping for a pic myself tomorrow, chickened out this afternoon. -

Car passed its MOT today, so all up for Wednesday evening in Collumpton and then Dartford Thursday. Have put the doors back on, and will probably put the roof on too as the forecast looks dodgy! -

Perhaps too much Dave with that collection, well done . See your dilemma now, and guessing the Westy is the least practical of all your cars. -

totally!! Itโs all part of the charm. i went out for a blat with someone in an 2.0 zetec and another in a bec, and they commented on how well it did on a spirited drive. One major problem is space. Iโd love to keep it AND buy another car, but aside from funding, where would I keep them all. My collection currently stands at a Transporter van, Audi S3, Defender 90, 911 997.2 and the Westfield. Itโs getting a bit silly. I just love cars!

Purposely left my van at my yard so I could drive there to pick it up. Canโt really take tools in the Westy so had to swap over. -
DfT and DVLA launch call for evidence around registering historic, classic and rebuilt vehicles
Stuart replied to SteveB21's topic in The Start Line
I have a little bit of experience in Government 'calls for evidence' and 'consultations' and IMHO there is very little chance of changing anything unless you have a big lobby machine behind you. Also 3.23-3.28 seem to just be asking whether relaxations should be made to existing regs not suggesting a tightening up. -

A few years ago a court case occurred over the identity of a classic car (possibly a Bentley ) as a car had been built up and the identity of a car attached to it , the case revolved around how much of a car had to be included in a restoration of a car to retain its identity and from memory the judgement was that 2% of the original car was required. -

What about if we had our own debate here on this thread , but for now take out Historic and Classics, just discuss Westfields or kitcars in general. As I a member of a classic club we are doing something similar on Whatsapp. The problem is, I have no experience of either registering a kit car or re-building one, so I may not join in much. -

@Two7 I am not sure who this is aimed at if I'm honest, as @jeff oakley above points out I think its for the main players not us the end user, no idea really. -

Section 3.23 to 3.28. Are very relevant to westfield kit cars in future and if we repair. Should we as a club have an agreed response to these sections. Sorry if i have missed it, but Is there a committee or member representing us all on this or should we all respond with an agreed text. -

Can I interest anyone in my trusty family load lugger? Owned since June 2018 but no longer need a diesel as I'm working from home full time now. Currently on 159800 miles, but occasionally still used, so may rise slightly. It was top-of-the-line with adaptive cruise, forward alert, dual climate, heated seats (temperamental switch, I dont use them myself), sat nav, USB or bluetooth music streaming, xenons, cornering lights, etc, etc. Also has a working tow bar with dual electrics (aftermarket). It's not all roses though, due to the infrequent use the battery sometimes dips below the required voltage for starting it. I normally charge it a little on the Ctek before I actually need to go anywhere. Also occasionally it seems to take an extended time to start the car, which I've put down to needing replacement glow-plugs. Have got replacements, but it's not an easy job to DIY and because it does always start, I've just lived with it. It also has a slow leak on the OSR tyre, likely due to the alloys in desperate need of refurbishment. Also just a luck would have it (they know!), it has thrown up an engine management light last week. Using Forscan I have just cleared it, but the next time it happens I will pay more attention to the error codes and see if I can actually fix it. Suspect it is boost related as it has been in the past. Car drives as normal, even with the engine management light on. It's going to get a fresh oil+filter change this oncoming weekend as it is due one. I service it myself given the cost of having a dealership involved on a 15 year old car... The MOT expires on 23/11/2024. It comes with two keys (although the 2nd key probably needs a new battery) and all the paperwork of all the stuff I spend on it over the past years. Given the miles, age and 'peculiarities' I'm only looking for ยฃ2,000 which makes it the cheapest in the country. I'm in Northampton near the M1 J16 and J15A. My number is 07971 125839 if you want to get in touch. I've got loads more photo's I can forward or if you prefer I can do a video tour too.

Hi everyone, thanks for your warm welcome ๐. Here's a few pics of my old XJ... Still in the process of doing bits to it & undoing things that the previous owner did that really doesn't suit the car... Lol ๐
