    My first Donington GP experience!

Definitely not talent, probably more to do with an under developed fear gland! 😂 No, it's not been on the dyno since fitting the throttle bodies, I installed the factory developed Omex map which works a treat. Obviously it's a bit more powerful but the throttle response is the main improvement, with the lightweight flywheel it punches very hard in gear but keeps the flexibility it always had.

Disadvantages of a full Cage ?

    They do DEFINITELY look awesome!

Disadvantages of a full Cage ?

We must compare entry and exit techniques sometime 🤣
  6. Is there an entry list? From what I see doesnt seem to have been populated yet....oh and I have entered

Disadvantages of a full Cage ?

I have a full FIA cage, an aero screen and lowered floors on my car. As for disadvantages there are none, I get in and out through the top of the cage with and without a helmet on. I also have a custom tonneau which is no different than getting in a car with full wet gear, there’s a technique of getting in of course but no harder! The advantages are; extra safety compared to a normal roll bar, you feel much safer with it and they look awesome!

Disadvantages of a full Cage ?

I find getting in through the side of a full cage is very easy, but getting out does need a bit of flexibility... Although nothing is as difficult as a standard car with full weather gear!

Disadvantages of a full Cage ?

I've found it easier to get in with a cage and much easier to get out with one. I tried the top entry method, in fact I posted a video on here showing me attempting it as it was so flipping hilarious! If you're skinny no problem but at my size not good, much easier to get in and out from the side for me.

    What have we done?

It looks stunning. Great spec list too. If I didn't already have one I'd be extremely tempted by that.

Disadvantages of a full Cage ?

I have two Westfields - full Cage FIA as above and with rear MSA rollbar. For me much, much easier to get in/out with rollbar. Also there was recent discussion re helmet in caged car on road not only on track. Additionaly worth to notice that this FIA Cage Has no properly protruding on side side bars.

Disadvantages of a full Cage ?

I found it actually made it easier as you can grab on the bars and hoist yourself in! Also, getting in/out through the top was something I would often do especially when the half doors were on it.

That’s a mate’s car and it us utterly gorgeous! Goes like a bat out of hell 😁

    What have we done?

About the same time, but to my knowledge the derision was only ever from those that were looking at kits for the first time. Those that knew about them were not in the slightest bit bothered about letters on a plate, unless they wanted to display something that (to them) looked cool. I actually fought with the DVLA to ensure I got a Q when I registered mine!

Disadvantages of a full Cage ?

When you say full cage, do you mean the FIA full cage not their trackday cage? FIA Full cage Trackday cage

    What have we done?

Get a bigger warehouse and you can add the dated registrations that have note 2 on their V5CW as well for all the people suspicious of q plates
  19. How difficult is it to get into a car with a full cage ? I know it's possible to get a caged one without the side rails which probably helps things but I'm not sure I bend well enough to get out of what would be the door opening. I did see someone get in from the top at Gurston. The other thing I was wondering was how far above a standard windscreen the front rail was, I know the rear one is taller for helmet clearance.

    My first Donington GP experience!

Well whatever it is you are or are not doing is working! (natural talent? ) Have you had your car on the dyno since doing the last round of work on the engine and if so what was the differences between previous spec and now ? (throttle bodies?)

    Narrow Roll Cage

I'm still looking for either a full cage or better rear cage for my narrow SE. I have been offered one but it was made for a car with independent rear suspension and would have required a bit of work to use it.

    What have we done?

My first kit was a Q plate, paid £4800 for it, sold it years later for £6000! I'm wondering if it's worth getting a warehouse, buying up all the Q plates and sitting on them until they make MOTing kits so hard they'll be worth a mint 😂😂 In the meantime I quite like this one..... https://www.pistonheads.com/buy/listing/18612193 I know its listed on here too. Fab looking thing. Great spec but I know very little about those EcoBoost engines. Are they any good in a kit car?
  23. Ive got a spare as well if anyone wants it Adult full weekend pedestrian enrty no car no camping
  24. Flying Carrot Steve

    What have we done?

I'm not sure how long you've been around kits @Kingster, probably longer than my 12 years I reckon, but I can clearly remember Q plates being talked of in derogatory ways and attracting lower prices, but that now seems to be on the reverse! Mine is a 14 plate and right now I'd love a Q plate again specifically because of this MOT emissions issue we are now seeing. In fact if I sell the Carrot I will definitely be looking for a Q plate Westfield not a normal plated one. Anything for an easier kit car life!
