BTTT for any new members who have not benefited from Bert's escapades.............

  4. You are joking!! Its 140 miles from home to Castle Combe. The car is stripped out with no windscreen and is uncomfortable to drive on the road. It may be very fast but there is little opportunity to use the speed. It is certainly not a motorway cruiser. I'll arrive Friday evening, sleep in the trailer and drive back home Saturday after the event.

I am interested in the Welsh tour in September...but I need a) details of exactly where and when to meet in Llandrindod, and b) the route in some form. I can visit my family in Monmouth and do this on my way home to Chester. Cheers! paulhale@talktalk.net

Wheel Arch Stone Chip Protectors wanted.

I think they’re a slightly different shape, too. But be interesting to see how they compare.

Wheel Arch Stone Chip Protectors wanted.

Are they the same size? I thought fixed arches were narrower? I need some as well so interested to find out.
  18. @MattVis going to try to come but depends on Mot’s etc on Friday.
  19. Thanks to Paul at Howden for helping with my renewal. Change of underwriter from Marker Study to AXA, with the same cover and excess rules, but a saving of £26 on last year's cover. However, one to watch out for, I had to give a reminder that I'm opted out of auto-renewal. Take care Gary

  23. I did about 15 miles in the Westfield this morning so look forward to meeting you all at Castle Combe. The gearbox problem was a broken main shaft. Apparently it's relatively common as there is a thrust washer which sits in the groove and the drillings create a stress point. Huge thanks to Paul at First Motion Transmissons https://www.firstmotion.co.uk/. I took the box out of the car on the Sunday, took it to him Monday lunchtime and he had fixed it by Thursday evening.

Ah, apologies — I genuinely had no idea this had already been developed! Looks like we stumbled upon the same solution independently — classic case of convergent evolution 😄 I imagine it's not just the MNR that could benefit, but pretty much any high-scuttle, pointed-nose kit car would gain from having a “sightline” like that. Great minds engineering in parallel, huh? 😉

Recently had a track day at Donington on the full circuit .. here's SWMBO taking her 82 year old dad out for a spin Sat at home with the stopwatch I managed a fastest lap of 2min6secs which I don't think is too bad for an old man with no budget and even less talent
