Jaguar Landrover have had a catastrophic reputation recently, particularly the land rover side. Land rovers combined terrible reliability with so much complexity that they gained a relation for being undiagnosable/unrepairable, to such an extent that most of the second hand dealers wouldn't touch them with a barge pole. In addition to this their security was terrible; they were so easily stealable that for a while they became uninsurable. I wouldn't touch one unless I had so much money that I could afford to write off the purchase price.

Tin Top Car Warranties
Kit Car Electronics and Essex AO replied to shrops-paul's topic in Stuff & Nonsense
In my experience, most of the warranty and reliability problems these days with ICE cars concern diesel EU6.2 versions - modern petrol reliability is often an order of magnitude better in faults per 1000 cars. Many JLR petrol cars actually have very good reliability - my own petrol F-Pace is at 50,000 miles/ 7 years with absolutely zero faults (touch wood). -
Range Rovers regularly came dead last in the reliability stakes for many years, until Tesla showed up and stole their thorny crown. My neighbour owns a Range Rover Sport and his repair bills are eye-watering. The offside headlamp failed due to a wiring loom fault that took three weeks and £1k to sort, and that’s just scratching the surface.

Did it go wrong A LOT? I'm considering buying a full fat Autobiography Rangey in maybe 2 years time but keep hearing bad news stories about Land Rovers in general, but especially the Range Rover

I’ve never bought a warranty in the past, but bought a second hand evogue 2 years ago, and with it being a Landrovers I got a warranty with assurant (through cazoo at the time) Cost was £20 a month for 4 years, and bit gas it been worth it. Several claims in (currently having def tank replaced for £1600 - £1300 paid by the warranty) Assurant have always been great to deal with, and never had a quibble (apart from DEF which was understandable). Even deal direct with the garage, so they just sort it all out for me. would I buy them again - yes if the car needed it. Would I buy a landrover again - no way…

I have a 96 SE Wide chassis with pinto currently installed. I'd be interested in one of the pairs you have 👍.

If anyone is interested, the Knebworth Classic Car Show is taking place this bank holiday Sunday/ Monday at Knebworth House, Hertfordshire. It's a lovely secure setting in the house grounds with some interesting attendees in the past, including Ronart, Dax, Jag D-Type and the Grinnel Scorpion club. I'll be taking the XI there on the Monday (assuming serviceability). https://emea01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fshare.google%2FEKkVv5QccjtlTZRa4&data=05|02||d3d6ff2397bd4426aa1f08dde09eafbd|84df9e7fe9f640afb435aaaaaaaaaaaa|1|0|638913694353739134|Unknown|TWFpbGZsb3d8eyJFbXB0eU1hcGkiOnRydWUsIlYiOiIwLjAuMDAwMCIsIlAiOiJXaW4zMiIsIkFOIjoiTWFpbCIsIldUIjoyfQ%3D%3D|0|||&sdata=i4VHqFBmIHMUO5FnCPoK4Wx4t70UnVNNwuhSxOYYclE%3D&reserved=0

Zetec black top camshaft identification
Pete Osment replied to Pete Osment's topic in The Start Line
but what HP cams is what I'm after , as 130 bhp , 115 or less I've counted the cast rings , but mine do not relate to any diagrams I have seen. Fairly sure the engine is out of a Mondeo. the cast rings work out to be a code for what HP the cams produce cheers Pete -

@Hedley Bennett (HB46443) - Club Chairman do not fear I am bringing a lot of paraphernalia and hopefully none will classed as prohibited 😇
