  2. Yeah, spotted that Mat - still deciding if I am definitely up for it (and if I do, is it camper van or boring motorways in a Lotus with no aircon 🤣)

    Best thread repair- interesting comparison!

Back in my air cooled VW days it was really common to helicoil (or equivalent) the highly stressed threaded holes in the aluminium block whether they needed it or not as a preventative measure. David

    Best thread repair- interesting comparison!

Good to know the chinese Helicoil are as good as the branded stuff, as I've used them on the whole exhaust side of the 1.8t cylinder head 😄 Nice video comparison btw

    WTD: Rover V8 3.9EFI

I've got one that's not been up to much in the last 4 years. It's one of the very last of the line with the cross bolted block and whatnot. It is attached to a Discovery 2 though... always a caveat!

    WTD: Rover V8 3.9EFI

I'm also wary of a used engine, but a rebuild will be at least £3-4K and that is before you discover anything untoward once you open the engine up.

    WTD: Rover V8 3.9EFI

Might be a good time for a good rebuild I'm always wary of used engines, you never know how they have been used or the internals state... If it's not broken, a good cylinder hone and new rings are all you need.

    WTD: Rover V8 3.9EFI

Yes, I missed out on that one unfortunately. The listing says "sold in need of basic strip and check over". I really need a running engine, otherwise I can just rebuild my current one. There is no such thing as a cheap rebuild though, hence looking for a complete running engine. The one on facebook is probably the same one @joolz is thinking about. I'm not looking for a car, the engine is all I need to replace my sickly 3.9 SEiGHT engine...
