    Stopping the rain coming in

I've actually (mostly) solved this on my car after a few iterations. I ran a strip of closed cell foam along the contact point of the side screens with the body. This is the only photo I can find showing the foam without the screens fitted: At higher speed there's still a little mist that comes up, but it's nowhere near the vortex that I used to get.

This is the interloping water that confuses me in mine. Was quite funny the first time it happened though.

I would suggest Sika 521UV black. Don't forget to mask all the areas close to where you want the silicone to go, things can get messy.

Got any photos of how it looks? My car is silver so thinking contrast of black silicon maybe too much
  12. Will be there. Always look forward to this one, walking distance too! thanks Dave for organising Andy

Silicon. (general use stuff, not the bathroom specific types) After spotting someone using it in on their car, and thinking it looked much neater/better, I've just changed to using black rather than the standard clear silicon, on my Electric Blue coloured car.
  15. That time of year is fast approaching!! (Thursday the 4th December) It will soon be the annual Cheshire & N. Staffs Christmas Curry. K2H, in Sandbach, is booked for 7.30pm. So, those of us that can get there earlier, will meet up from around 6.30 onwards at the George Inn, just round the corner from the restaurant for a drink, before we stroll down to K2H As before, parking is available in Waitrose car park, or the big overspill car park just before it. (Just be aware Sandbach is starting to add pay to park to some of it's carparks', so keep an eye out, just in case!) The George Inn - 39 High St, Sandbach CW11 1AL K2H Indian - 3-4 Georges Walk, High St, Sandbach CW11 1AR Car Park - Flat Ln, Sandbach CW11 4BE Can you let me know as soon as possible if you're coming please! Me!! Ian K. Andy D Pete H

Mines is F20C so exhaust is drivers side so not so much of an issue. i guess I’ll have to take a look for gaps and seal accordingly. Any recommendations on what sealer to use?

….which reminds me, I added some DIY Kaylan mudflaps to the cyclewings which made a big difference to the amount of crud that gets thrown up.

    Stopping the rain coming in

Also when the spray hits the rear wheel arch it bounces up under the sidescreen onto your upper right arm, there’s not a lot you can do to stop that, and believe me I’ve tried 🙄 on a zetec car it’s not as much of a problem for the passenger cos the exhaust deflects a lot of the spray away. i suppose it’s the same for the driver on a Duratec car.

Other than 'they all do that, sir"... FWIW, on ours, the scuttle is sealed to the tub along the entire perimeter where it sits on the car, the screen is sealed to the top of the scuttle, the pillars are sealed to the screen frame. Been a long time (years) since we drove ours in the rain or with the hood on, but another popular place for water to get in is the side screens. Front edge where they meet the pillars and depending on how well or otherwise they fit, along the bottom edge too.

    Stopping the rain coming in

I’ve been caught in the rain a couple of times and found on the motorway especially water can come through the air vents just at the bottom of the screen and also I get a steady trickle of water on my left leg. Can someone point me to photos or a guide of where I need to seal up to stop this happening? I prefer not to take too much of the car apart to do it. I’ve heard people talk about scuttle sealing but which parts of the scuttle need to be sealed.
