5 years to wait then, although Q plates seem to be a bit of an anomaly. No one seems to know if they will be exempt.

As I understand it once it is 40 years old it will be but they eek that out by it having to be 40 years old at a certain point of the year. It also has to be "largely unmodified from the first registration" how the hell they will do that with a Westfield who knows. Plus do not forget if it gets Historic tax it also gets MOT exempt and ULEZ exempt as well. Again that is how I understand it, hopefully mine is in 2028

Just sorned mine for the first time! But only because Iam doing jobs that willl stop me getting out over the next couple of months. I will have to treat the car to something for what I’ve saved in tax 😂

I've just retaxed my Westfield for another year, £360, that's £1 per day (nearly). My other 2 cars, Alfa Romeo Giulietta and VW Up! are both £20, 0.05479205p per day. Why? Will my 1991 registered Westfield on a Q plate ever be tax exempt?
  15. Monthly meet for a natter and a pint, usual venue, The Crown Inn Bridport DT6 4AX from 19.30. Usual informal format, come and go as you please. Final one of 2025, where did that year go!!
  16. Have you used it yet? Does it work ok? I tried something similar but made up of spacers and struggled to get the bushes out..had to use a press in the end.. I hope it does work well because it looks a great solution
  17. Just finished some ducting for the rad and sealing the joint between the fan and rad due to the bracket. Hopefully a lot better cooling when needed.

I made one of these for my own car, and have a few spare sets manufactured as back ups. The kit will come with the metalwork needed to make the unit. You would need to make 8 folds, and then bolt the parts together. The folds would depend on the exact measurements of your car. I will send out some instructions to use as guides, but you could customise it further if you wanted to. I can price in fixings if you need however you may wish to use your local supplier. Some additional modifications may be needed to suit your car, but it fits in my SEIW nicely without fuss. The main features are a cubby to put stuff, and the switch panel which can be replaced if you later choose to change the switches, without changing the whole front piece. There's also a small compartment on the top, out of sight to hide things under the dash. I've priced them close to what I paid, I just want them to find a new home! There's a bunch of photos attached to show the parts and the assembly of mine. Hopefully these can be if use to someone! I have 1 full kit in stock, however I have 2 sets that's are missing the side panels, which I can remanufacture if the demand is there or you can make your own. £53 posted or £50 if collected from Hailsham. Hopefully these rambles make sense.. cheers!

  23. Hi what diameter is the silencer. Did it come of a Westfield. Very subjective but what tone sound did it make. Cheers Dafydd
  24. Looks good! Have you tried it yet?
  25. Mike Rowland - Essex AO

Sharing what you’ve just done. Not questions. No comments required.

That looks really excellent @DavidMiller. Could you be persuaded to machine more? I'm sure you'd be able to sell a batch easily?
  26. Brilliant, thanks very much that's going to be a very useful tool 👍
  27. bush_install_tool Drawing v1.pdf Tried to get all the information on ones sheet - tolerance is pretty loose on this as long as it fits. It should be pretty self-explanatory in how it is used. The tube component has a rebate for the wishbone so fits on one way around. The part that fits on the end of the tube is designed to be reversible - so is used one way around with the tube for removal, then the other way around without the tube for install. The smaller component is used for removal of the old bushing (and install of the new one) and has clearance for the inner crush tube on one side to ensure it presses against the outer metal sleeve of the bushing.
