New Regulations on personal plates to be introduced 2026

I did find an interesting post from a supplier that states that getting a stick on number plate to actually conform to BS AU 145D is impossible due to bending, impact and vibration tests required. The grammar and spelling is a bit idiosyncratic but the information seems reasonable: https://numberplateclinic.co.uk/stick-on-registration-plates/

New Regulations on personal plates to be introduced 2026

Just to stir the pot a bit more.... Here in Nebraska, we have a proviso that you can run only a rear plate, IF your car was designed without a front mount. Costs an extra $50/year---usual govt graft, pay more/get less Roughly 1/2 of the US are rear plate only, and we join them in 2029

New Regulations on personal plates to be introduced 2026

No, having no plate could be accidental, lack of checking on the car before starting a journey, the result of theft etc. Whereas an “illegal” plate demonstrated “intent”. ie you knew the law and deliberately with a forethought ignored it and fitted something that even warned you it was not road legal. You have to remember, much like my attempt to pervert the course of justice example earlier, anything that very obviously shows you knew it was wrong, and or illegal but did it anyway, especially if you compounded things by trying to avoid prosecution will potentially always be treated more harshly, because it goes against the grain of how UK law and in turn Policing by consent work.

Manchester run to Settle tomorrow 7th April

This for the pensioners and idle rich, plus anyone else who’s not working. Tomorrow 7th April. Yeah I know it’s short notice but so are reliable weather forecasts Jim Cunliffe and I plus wives are meeting at 11.30 am at the Mc Donald’s on the A59 at Whalley, then we will have a gentle drive up to Settle for fish n chips. If anyone’s up for it, meet us there

New Regulations on personal plates to be introduced 2026

The point I’m making is the law looks more lenient on no plate than it does on a plate that’s say too small, when you look at both offences no plate would suggest the worse of the 2

A level 3 fine imposed by courts can also be accompanied by 3-6 points.

New Regulations on personal plates to be introduced 2026

But still not points, which was more my point over the fine

New Regulations on personal plates to be introduced 2026

Only if they choose to give you a DPN. if court proceedings are issued which might happen if you committed another offence at the same time then it’s a level 3 fine which is £1000.

Errr… not just up your way. A certain ex-westy-now-lotus owner that I know, who shall remain nameless, might have used such a device in the 80’s… allegedly found a photo of him on the bike in question

List 1b tyres - vehicle registration date etc.

Because Westfield & Caterham 7 type design models were originally made before 1990 they qualify to use these tyres is the ruling has been given by MSUK.

New Regulations on personal plates to be introduced 2026

I want legal size text at least, illegal plate £100 fine and 3 points no plate, £100 fine its like might as well not fit one at all, I do think that proper size stick on is better than too small screw on
  25. Robin Parker (Red Spider) - Yorkshire AO

New Regulations on personal plates to be introduced 2026

Would a plate with motorbike sized digits fit between the front and intake? Yours looks like a bike sized plate.

New Regulations on personal plates to be introduced 2026

Well maybe i just keep my clearly illegal little plate lol think i need a 3 or 4 digit private plate then it'll fit the nose
  27. Not strictly a Speed Series question but hopefully those in the know might be looking here. So, list 1b has a number of tyres annotated that are designated only for use on vehicles registered before 1/10/90. There is a bit of ambiguity in that it talks about tyres "designed" for use on vehicles registered before the relevant date but then goes on to say that they will only be valid for vehicles registered before the relevant date. Not strictly the same thing. However............... I've recently (in the couple of weekends) seen some cars running the annotated tyres on cars that are clearly registered post 1.10.90. and they are run by people I would generally expect to be S*** hot on the MSUK rules. The question therefore is, what do they know that I don't? Is anyone aware of any MSUK rulings or other precedents that could be in play?
