    ***SOLD *** 2007 SEiW - 1800 Zetec - SOLD

long shot, but i am the current owner of this westfield, you wouldn't happen to know what the spring rates were when fitted? I believe the car is a bit too soft for me at the moment but would like to know what the starting point is before deciding on where to go next. Thanks

  4. Just for the record myself and Andy still went for a pie last month. Weather forecast was wrong. Will be attending tonight
  5. Isn’t there some form of motorsport testing going on there?

Something new for the summer ??

95k for a 4 cylinder car in green, with swept wings. Makes my 8 cylinder car in green with swept wings 190k then. As much as it’s a daft price, that Donk does look lovely.

    Tyres for 7's Speed Series

hi i think tyres is a reel problem ,as we all know the old kumho and avon were the tyres to use in road going classes, current 1b tyres dont warm up quick enough for sprints as two to three laps are generally needed to get heat into them. there is off course the pirelli p7 corsa classic ,but the cost is similar to slicks, i think it is a very difficult situaion, personally i think any tyre that is e marked , ie road legal should be allowed to be used.

    Tyres for 7's Speed Series

I'm starting to think that isa better option, given how difficult it is now getting to buy decent 13" compounds, where as 15" is much easier. The Nankang CRS coumpound is rated by them as better than the popular AR1. And CRS is not available in 13", but is in 15"

    Tyres for 7's Speed Series

To be honest i have been pondering this as well For sure if all was equal the 13" would be better but of the rubber just isnt available would the diferance be of set. If only we had the funds and time to back to back test like they do o youtube

I get that, unsprung weight is definitely a big deal. However, I was wondering if running a much better tire might alleviate (or even completely remove) the disadvantage.
  15. Bichancourt - that will be a nice drive in to Laon. Will look out for a yellow Westfield!

    What the postie brought today!

I have the same one. There is a technique to laying the terminals into it, but it does crimp perfectly once you get the hang of it

    What the postie brought today!

Just managed to pick myself up off the floor in time for delivery of this crimp tool for the Ampseal connectors. Nice bit of kit but £250!! Time to start connecting things up and testing on the workbench (dining table).

That's prompted me to have a look. We have one night in St. Marie des Champs so we don't have to rush a late drive off the ferry and then a few nights in a bijou chateau at Bichancourt, about 40 mins from Laon. Obviously that'll mean a drive in each day of the event, but we have a couple of days either side to just relax and enjoy the French countryside.
  21. We've done about 7 continental trips in Westies, typically ~2000 miles each, mainly around France but also to Austria. Apart from the attractions of weather, scenery and food the roads and traffic are so often more amenable to Westie driving than in the UK. Now I've retired (5 days in) I'm looking forward to getting more miles under my belt! We're thinking of tunnel or cross-channel ferry for the outbound to Spain and return via Santander and Bay of Biscay.

It's down to weight, mainly, LoneWolf. When I was sprinting regularly, I had 2 sets of wheels; 13" for sprinting and 15" for road use and the occasional trackday. Back then though, we were allowed to use list 1B tyres, which then included all or most of the semi-slick trackday tyres, in super soft rubber mix. Then those tyres were taken out of list 1B, and ceased to be approved for road use, so if you continued to run them you had to run in non-roadgoing class, so up against those using slick tyres. Although the weight saving isn't huge, remember it is all unsprung weight, so it is relevant to how well the suspension can deal with undulations in the road surface at racing speeds.
  25. Wow south Spain in the Westfield driving from the UK? That's dedication
  26. @Tim (Sideways) Johnson - Club Treasurer - We'll be there too, but not in the Westfield - although I am thinking of taking the Westfield in 2027. Just need to find someone mad enough to be my navigator! Where are you staying?
