Good spot. Digital read-out of the oil and water temperatures. The VDO gauges are what they are. Mind you, it's difficult to read the digital display when strapped in! Another small problem to sort... header tank has a split, or at least has a line of plastic fatigue waiting to cause me all sorts of problems. Does anyone know of a good replacement of the original Ford Escort Mk1 tank that I have? Options found so far are through Westfield Chesil or an alloy one through these guys (which I quite like the look of) https://www.proalloystore.com/products/westfield-header-tank?_pos=1&_sid=9c94badda&_ss=r

Thanks Ian, loved every minute of the run. Best fun I've had in a Westfield so far, waiting for mine to be completed 😆 And thanks @Marcus Barlow - Show and Events Co-ordinator for the torch, really appreciated 👍 -
Well if the Pistonheads article bhp is correct and the weight you've quoted is correct then it's about 416 per tonne. Nice!

It was an issue specific to the Weber Alpha TPS adjustment, I’m not sure Caterham used that ecu, historically, they seem to have been more MBE based? -

@LoneWolf visits the UK (Macclesfield) for work periodically and has attended more Cheshire Area Xmas curries than some local members! He was keen to obtain the WSCC Torch given to members who attended the 2025 Malvern show. As we were visiting Italy this summer on our Peaky Schnitzel Pizza Processing Tour, I offered to collect one from @Marcus Barlow - Show and Events Co-ordinator and deliver to Italy for him. He was planning to take the train up the Dolomites and ride with us for a day. However this didn't happen. He arrived in the UK for a week on Saturday, so I through together an Impromptu Peaky Blat and invited a few local members along to join us. This is as much as I planned and would make up the rest depending on traffic/weather etc. The Peaky game of 'hide and seek' started just before 9am for me. @andyjs and his friend Scott with a 1.6L Sigma powered Caterham got into the Peaks before me and I'd got to collect @LoneWolf from his Hotel first. We drove towards the Cat & Fiddle from Bosley Crossroads and had a good run up. We found Andy and Scott somewhere between Pott Shrigley and Kettleshulme and had a few rounds of all cars turning round and repeatedly passing each other before all 3 cars we pointing in the same direction. After a quick stop and chat, we decided Scott could lead and he took us on a fabulous run round the Peaks. Some new to me roads and some very familiar but amazingly very light traffic considering the great weather. The cars needed a drink in Buxton. Scott uses the same approach as me to Winnat's pass- Crawl at circa 10 miles and hour on the approach and then hopefully have a clear run up. We did! Not so good when we discover Scott's battery is dead (known issue) and he's having to use a USB power bank to jump start it. His idle speed has recently been adjusted leading to it cutting out (any advice @Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman I recall you having a similar issue for a while?) All the cars we'd left behind at the start of Winnat's, now sailed past as Scott jumped his car back into life. and again neat to Quackers! We stopped for a drink and some lunch at the Grouse and Claret in Rowsley A 'light' snack for Alessandro @LoneWolf Scott and Andy had to leave at this point. So I treated Alessandro to a trip through Asbo Tunnel on our way back to Macclesfield. 160 great miles covered on a bone dry day! -

3 in and 2 out and then the Japanese magic with the variable timing = she loves to rev. It could be the same car, It hasn't traveled far, the chap who built it has sadly passed on, from conversations with others apparently he was a big cheese with the Ducati race team, built this when he could no longer ride. So I'm told. -

If I hadn't found the right car some years ago (and yours wasn't red 🙂 I have a thing about red cars) I'd be all over this. Fascinating spec/engine. -

Someone not far from you had one of these 15+ years ago. Cracking engine for a Westfield. Point of order though - 2.5 inlet and exhaust valves per cylinder? -

She's good for her age, engine is amazing, honestly really sad to sell it but the garage is only so big, could never put her outside, it would be criminal. Priced to sell before I change my mind, and end up renting yet more space. -

Westfield SEi for sale - Toyota 4age 20v Silver top - 1600cc Time has come for me to pass on my Westfield Registered in 1991 1.6 Toyota 4age twin cam VVT 20v Silver top Running on Omex 600 ecu, with ITBs Tuned last summer at MEK Motorsport producing 162bhp at the wheels. Engine is fantastic if anyone doesn't know them I'll include some information below. Great engine to have in a light car, and being Toyota it just works all the time, everytime. Sounds amazing! I did quite a bit of work last summer before and during the tunning. Enjoyed 230 miles since. Last year I changed: Cam belt Fuel pump Complete set of silicone hoses Radiator flushed and tested Injectors refurbished and flow tested Battery 4 x Tyres - Accelera 651 sport xtra GPS speedo, original clock will be included Car has: 5 speed box 15" Momo wheels Momo steering wheel Disc brakes all round Remus stainless exhaust It has Spax adjustable shocks these are working fine but looking a bit tired, included is a new set boxed, front and back, (I've just not got round It fitting them) . It does also come with a roof and pram frame, looks fine although I've never fitted it. I'm a sunny days only man. The car is 34 years old so please don't expect perfection, Has MOT, next due in May 2026 Priced to sell £7000 Open to sensible offers for a hassle free transaction. The 4A-GE 20V Silvertop is a 1.6-liter inline-4 engine known for its high-revving nature and advanced features. It produces around 160 horsepower at 7,400 RPM and 119 lb-ft of torque at 5,200 RPM. Key features include individual throttle bodies, a variable intake system, and a 20-valve (10 intake, 10 exhaust) cylinder head design. -
If the original SVA test still holds, and there’s not much to say otherwise, it looks like a wet weight of 780kg, and evenly split between axles. I do plan on getting the car onto a dyno at some point, just to know what it’s capable of, but advice appreciated and well heeded @Flying Carrot Steve, thanks. The current rubber is starting to age, particularly having been off road for a few years, so even in the heat the back’s a little twitchy. Peak power is one thing, but it’s the getting there… the constant high torque and linear delivery with the blower is something else. Anyway, you can tell I’m pleased with it. over 400 per tonne is probably right, but maybe not too much more. Going from 25 in 3rd to… err… not 25 at 6k rpm last night with the sun setting over the South Downs, in convoy with a group of porkers heading home from the FOS last night was a proper treat.

My wife's MX-5 was a cracking car, the only problem that I had with it was that at a sensibly sized 6' 2" it was murder to get a comfortable driving position in. I could never get her buy in to the idea of taking the seats out and sitting on the floor to drive it. Actually that's not true - the other problem was that at one MOT the tester poked it and it fell apart into a pile of brown dust. R.I.P. Still a great car though.

Completely agree. Although with the hot weather lately, and people sleeping with their windows open, there may be a few neighbours who might disagree with that this morning! 🤣🤫

I had to replace that tank on my zetec. I used this one. It has 3 pipe outlets. 2 small 1 large so you will need a stopper for the extra small outlet. https://ebay.us/m/g0ViR2
