I’ve just been looking at past Malvern shows for a future article I and a few others are aware of: came across a man in a Kawasaki Green Mankini! Few prominent members in attendance too! -

No piccies but tightened all the fuel hose clamps up yesterday after making the unpleasant discovery that 10l of what is now very expensive petrol had very slowly leaked out of the tank over the winter. There was quite a strong smell of petrol in the garage but luckily the leak was so slow that it had evaporated away over time and there are no ignition sources in there. Still, I can think of more pleasurable liquids to spend £15 on… Refilled the tank, put cardboard underneath the area, 24 hours later no leaks. Hoo-rah. Also discovered that the fuel sender unit was turned 90 degrees the wrong way so that the float wasn’t hitting bottom, so loosened the screws and turned it back. Not that it will ever read correctly, they never do but hey, take little victories where you can. - Yesterday

New Regulations on personal plates to be introduced 2026
dvd8n replied to Ross the Scottish exile's topic in The Start Line
I did find an interesting post from a supplier that states that getting a stick on number plate to actually conform to BS AU 145D is impossible due to bending, impact and vibration tests required. The grammar and spelling is a bit idiosyncratic but the information seems reasonable: https://numberplateclinic.co.uk/stick-on-registration-plates/ -

Just to stir the pot a bit more.... Here in Nebraska, we have a proviso that you can run only a rear plate, IF your car was designed without a front mount. Costs an extra $50/year---usual govt graft, pay more/get less Roughly 1/2 of the US are rear plate only, and we join them in 2029 -
New Regulations on personal plates to be introduced 2026
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) replied to Ross the Scottish exile's topic in The Start Line
No, having no plate could be accidental, lack of checking on the car before starting a journey, the result of theft etc. Whereas an “illegal” plate demonstrated “intent”. ie you knew the law and deliberately with a forethought ignored it and fitted something that even warned you it was not road legal. You have to remember, much like my attempt to pervert the course of justice example earlier, anything that very obviously shows you knew it was wrong, and or illegal but did it anyway, especially if you compounded things by trying to avoid prosecution will potentially always be treated more harshly, because it goes against the grain of how UK law and in turn Policing by consent work. -

Yeah I know it’s short notice but so are reliable weather forecasts Jim Cunliffe and I plus wives are meeting at 11.30 am at the Mc Donald’s on the A59 at Whalley, then we will have a gentle drive up to Settle for fish n chips. If anyone’s up for it, meet us there- 1 reply

New Regulations on personal plates to be introduced 2026
DannyTGS replied to Ross the Scottish exile's topic in The Start Line
The point I’m making is the law looks more lenient on no plate than it does on a plate that’s say too small, when you look at both offences no plate would suggest the worse of the 2 -

Only if they choose to give you a DPN. if court proceedings are issued which might happen if you committed another offence at the same time then it’s a level 3 fine which is £1000. -

Errr… not just up your way. A certain ex-westy-now-lotus owner that I know, who shall remain nameless, might have used such a device in the 80’s… allegedly found a photo of him on the bike in question -
