    Cars For Sale

Does anyone know the current price of a new factory built car? And does anyone have any views (preferably facts) about the effect on used car prices? I would imagine a lack of new builds will eventually impact used values positively in due course.

    Cars For Sale

The summer is always regarded as the time to sell. As for numbers, it's a difficult one, it's certainly not as high as we've seen in an (economically) bad year, it feels about average, but I've not looked at the numbers. One thing I would say, is that while we're aware the factory is selling fully built cars, kit sales seem to be negligible, and the factory builds seem to be somewhat outside of the traditional Club (potential Club) members buyers segment. As a result, I think there are a few more owners that might normally be on the fence about selling their cars deciding to help fill that void in the market. I don't think it's distorted the market particularly, but I do think it's perhaps raised the visibility.

  5. Hi all .. bit of a long shot but does anyone have an intake manifold for dcoe style throttle bodies (the bigger bore the better) to suit the zetec engine ? It's for my track car as a project so doesn't have to look pretty, in fact the worse / cheaper the better as I will end up cutting it up for modifying in time.. cheers.

Yeah, just the time of year most likely.

A good time of the year to sell perhaps? As you say, I doubt it's VED or Insurance based. Though we know the government will continue to increases taxes on ICE to bully us into milk floats!

    Cars For Sale

There seems to be a lot of Westfields for sale at the moment. Is this a normal thing this time of year or is it something else ? The cost of taxing my car is a bit difficult to swallow for what is only a fun car but I wouldn't sell my car because of that.

Don’t know what you mean? MX-5… rust… That was my first track car - My second one was a rust free β€˜99 NB - should have kept it really.

Yeah, thanks guys. The non-transparent thing gets me too, but I like the ProAlloy window thing. Good for level, less good for checking flow I guess. I think I’m going to pick up the black coated box and see how it sits. Their other option is satin finish alloy, perhaps less in keeping with the raw alu bits and pieces, and I’m not about to start mirror polishing a header tank… Never thought this morning that by the evening I’d be talking about the aesthetics of an expansion vessel!!

If you can run to that expense it would look absolutely in keeping with the rest of the very high standard of engine bay IMHO, spot on. Only thing is as @Andrzejsays, it's not transparent.

in fact hard to see those readings from seat , maybe its for service / dyne etc. I don't like aluminium tanks β€” you can't really see the coolant level or condition at a glance. Maybe you could fit a Clio II header tank ? β€” it's popular and proven in kit cars. I use it in two of mine: a BEC MNR and a road-going Westfield. But in this engine bay mighht be not enough space for it.

Can't go wrong with ProAlloy if that's in your budget πŸ‘

Good spot. Digital read-out of the oil and water temperatures. The VDO gauges are what they are. Mind you, it's difficult to read the digital display when strapped in! Another small problem to sort... header tank has a split, or at least has a line of plastic fatigue waiting to cause me all sorts of problems. Does anyone know of a good replacement of the original Ford Escort Mk1 tank that I have? Options found so far are through Westfield Chesil or an alloy one through these guys (which I quite like the look of) https://www.proalloystore.com/products/westfield-header-tank?_pos=1&_sid=9c94badda&_ss=r

Thanks Ian, loved every minute of the run. Best fun I've had in a Westfield so far, waiting for mine to be completed πŸ˜† And thanks @Marcus Barlow - Show and Events Co-ordinator for the torch, really appreciated πŸ‘

Well if the Pistonheads article bhp is correct and the weight you've quoted is correct then it's about 416 per tonne. Nice!

It was an issue specific to the Weber Alpha TPS adjustment, I’m not sure Caterham used that ecu, historically, they seem to have been more MBE based?
