The Long Way North 2: WSCC Club Road trip 22nd/23rd June 2024

Hi Marcus and all. Been out for a ride today and did a recce of the starting point car park. For those wanting coordinates they are as follows - N53.34560, W1.81550. The car park is actually sign posted as MAM TOR (photos attached). We approached from Glossop and the roads were relatively clear (minor roadworks). We also rode on towards Chesterfield and back through Castleton, all appeared free flowing. Roll on Saturday. 👍

  16. Sad but its time to let it go. This is a fantastic car - This was a kit car purchase from Westfield before they were in difficulty and eventually closed. The body was cast from the new moulds they had done. I hand built it in 2020 with a view of using it a lot more than I have. it only has 1800 miles on the clock so practically a new car. Extras include Wide Track Wishbones Hood and Side Screen kit Full Tonneau Luggage rack ( never been fitted) Sports Turbo Seats Wheel upgrade to 8" rear 205 width tyres Calliper upgrade Momo Quick release steering wheel Heater I still have all the original receipts - packing lists or every component and the build manuals. It passed the IVA test with no advisories. Also are all the Gov docs that was needed to register the car and its declaration of new components. We have an Instagram account where you can see pictures of the build and a few fun times in the car - ourkitcar I will be posting more pictures but happy to answer any questions Looking for £19,950 Thanks Geoff

Best way to sell your Westfield…..

You need a licence for online raffles/lotteries and they can’t be for private or commercial gain
  19. Wish you all well. Have an amazing trip. Shame not to be able to join you this time as I wanted to do the NC500 with my daughter before she heads to Sydney NSW uni for 12 months. Looking forward to plenty of updates on ‘Bagpuss TV’ 😁

  21. Well after hours of persistent application I somehow managed to get onto the Oulton Park website at the car club entrance page and added my car details, so waiting for approval. Fingers crossed and thanks to Greenstreak Andy for some advice. I can't say it was straightforward or easy and the webpage did say 13 remaining places but could easily have been an old page. I await approval. Cheers all Rob

  26. Commited heresy... finished instalation of Electric Power Steering in mine Track Aerorace Westfield. I know, I know... but, track I am time to time drivig has karting, veeery twisty (slow angled corners) part , mine wrists are not quite healthly (chronic so would be only worse) , and with hot sticky sliscks I use its hard. Also car has a short (2,2 or 2,4 rack, and short steering arms, that not helping in lighweight operation too) So i fight with car in this section rather than to be precise on perfect driving line . So far just tried this EPS on normal road around home , and.... looks to work really well ! Starting froms downsides - quite a lot of work - additional 8 kg located high and on weighted drivers side (maybe more than 8 kg due to size of bearing I have used but wanted to do it once for ever . And weight of brackets I have welded in chassis . Advantages : - normal drive - like normal car, so light as this is a light car so now it feeling suits it (on slow drive, not only on speeds as before) - what I hope for - more precise less exhausting and less hand-painfull drive on twist parts (and all parking / pitstop / trailer etc operations ) - now I can easily operate smaller 280mm steering wheel (so far had 300mm and it is just-just regarding space with with legs, bigger wheel for less effort was not possible to install. Will see how it works on speed. Even can easily sit in and get out of cockpit with wheel still on column! (this might be partly due to smaller wheel but also highier positioned - more upward angled column. So its based on Opel Agilla used unit (aprox 40GBP ) + controller from servtronic.com (aperox 30GBP) + fuse box , some wiring and lot of scratching my head and internet reading (did not find on this forum similar topic?) Some welding did myself, some I commisioned to experienced welder (this part on column itself). Managed to use original Westfield mouting points, so if want to go back to mechanical column its easy - just unbolt electric, disconnect some plugs, and fit old upper part of column (lower part is still original Westfield one) . Oh, had to change rev-meter to smaller one, before had original Westfield one just above column, was already tight there, bu tnow wit highier posiotion and huge bearing had to go for smaller or relocate, easier was (had a cheap one in local shop )go for smaller. Oh, and in the electronic kit there is a potentiometer to off EPS or change the amount of force. Not sure if it works, maybe on highier speeds, feel like there is some change but not huge. On max setting it not to much anyway. All even fitted under the scuttle, only had to enlarge a little cutout for colum (and had to modify footwell cover) . So few pictures, as those are more than words:

    What the postie brought today!

I just need something to position the bobbin vertically, ideally in compression, so it doesn’t keep breaking.
  28. Hi guys. Planning a meet to Baston car and bike show at grimsthorpe castle. A very big event this neck of the woods in picturesque scenery. Be nice to see a load of us there. Cheaper tickets if booked in advance or £15 on arrival. If massive interest i will look into a club stand. Cheers Martin
