Any MG Midget based early Westfield Sevens still out there?

it’s a very very early, Westfield Seven, and one of the earliest they produced, likely around 1985. Most of the early cars adopted Ford components but the earliest instead used BMC running gear. The bubble rear arches I’ve only ever seen on one other Westfield before as all the later cars had the square arches fitted. quite a find

Chrome Yellow Sport 2000 for sale

I haven't had a chance to properly re-list this but it's still for sale. Been out a few times but sadly spending too long sat in the garage. I really need the garage space now to store building materials for a house renovation. The trailer mentioned above has now gone. It's booked in for MOT so will have a full year on it when sold.

A nice photo from the London to Brighton run. The photographer was lying down on the grass verge by the side of the road all day!

No worries Richard, I'm glad you got sorted. I've been out tonight after fitting my replacement master cylinder, had a nice long drive around the local area. It's much better than the previous M/C but I think I've still got some air bubbles in the back brakes (Sierra items so quite common!)

My Westfield is 25 years old and completely rust free. I've seen much younger ones with terrible rust. So I hope those pics include lots of chassis and suspension ones.

I did once buy a Porsche unseen but I had driven a different example and knew it was comfortable for me and I got an expert's report on the specific car. I'd be doubtful about doing it on a Westfield though. They're too variable. David

I have a terrible confession to make. I'm probably going to buy a car unseen 🫣 I know it's a terrible idea, but there are so few cars around my area. I show my cars, and have been on the lookout to speak to some 7 owners and have a go at having a sit in some cars. However, there's been a bit of a drought of them lately. I'm 6'1" but I'm comfortable in quite a tight driving position. I seem to fit in things that my similarly sized friends don't. For example I don't adjust the seat from my wife's driving position when driving her car. She's about 5'8". Has anyone else bought a car based on pictures alone? The seller of the car I'm looking at has provided me with a fantastic selection of really detailed photos.

I was fascinated to learn that Q plates have such lenient emissions regulations. Straight pipes anyone? I had previously been put off by never getting Tax or MOT exemption, but that was before I understood more about what Q plates actually were. I learnt the hard way a couple of weeks ago how vulnerable you can be in a small car. My previous weekend car was a Honda Beat. An inexperienced driver pulled out of a junction onto a main road without looking. I got the anchors on immediately, but it was still a major impact. I was lucky that the Beat is mid engined, the front was completely flattened, however the passenger compartment held up well for a 30 year old car weighing well under a tonne. The car i had before that was a classic mini with a supercharged 1380cc. It was sketchy as f*** to be honest. It only did 12mpg so I had to carry quite a bit of fuel in the cabin, what with the thimble sized fuel tank. The power overwhelmed every other aspect of the car. As you can imagine, it was equally amazing and terrible.

    Smiths speedometer telemax- recalibration

Hi Gary, all working now as it should, I suppose the only way to test it to drive with someone to check speeds. I did have to laugh expecting to find a load of switches inside the speedo after spending 1/2 hour removing it, to find None!! I will be back posting in the group soon. Thanks for all your help Gary.

Hi Callum Good choice - Westfield with a Redtop. I'm definitely biased by my own wonderful experience with that combination. Here's an obvious one that's been discussed on here before, but not mentioned in this thread: - if you are not average size - in either direction - then try many cars. It's most likely that one will fit, even if on paper it should have been the same as one that didn't fit. Lots of variations in the build. - I've done this one wrong: get it insured at an agreed value - well above what you paid to allow for the sizeable repair costs of bodywork to avoid a write off - get a ride or even a drive in one. I was hooked ever since, but I know of people who are spooked by how low, light, nimble, raw it is. - as with all (performance) cars: no need to chase amazing power figures when you then end up never really opening up due to modern traffic/driving etiquette. It is far more fascinating to really put the power down and let it fly - without entering crazy speed levels Probably more that'll come to my mind, but that's it for now.

Don't be put off by a Q plate either - it can be so much easier at MOT time regarding emissions... A Red Top will give plenty of options performance wise, feel pretty quick as standard anyhow. Biggest thing IMO to be aware of is how vulnerable you are, especially as the general standard of driving is so poor nowadays. You really need to drive defensively when in traffic - more like being a biker... Payback is in spades though - miles more bang per buck in a seven type car than super cars costing 10-20 as much - at least in smiles per mile. Remember, whilst sat in your seat, you could touch the road surface with your hand. This multiplies the driving experience and makes you feel as though you are going twice as fast as you are...
