I’d seen that you have recently done it. Maybe I need to pick your brains before ordering…..

Do you guys tend to leave your cars in the circuit overnight or drive them into woodlands? -
It’s a fairly simple job to do!!
-
Matt, do you have any photos or details of your custom tonneau?

My first Donington GP experience!
Rob Hunter - Club Secretary replied to Rob Hunter - Club Secretary 's topic in Track Days
I've overly done 5 track days at Donington and not seen much silliness.... mind you, I always sit out the first 20 mins to let the "popcorn remap" brigade get the adrenaline out of their systems by throwing their cars into the gravel 😂 -
My first Donington GP experience!

I was chatting with Dave last time I did a Donington evening. I prefer the national circuit and was heaving a grumble why he only does the GP circuit now. He explained that the main reason is the national circuit is used more for racing, therefore on track days you get more wanna be racing drivers and teams testing and practising. He gets a better mix of road cars on the GP circuit. The last evening session I did there a month or so ago also had no red flags. Unheard of at Donington, but perhaps in part due to his very open moan at people's behaviour of donuts in the pit lane and dealing in garage 14!!! -

That must be very old oil, mine is crystal clear still. All the more reason to clean away the shame! 😂 -
Seeing that silencer made me shudder. Thank god he hit your nearside. Sorry you're having to go through this crap mate.

You don't use orange oil then Steve that surprises me. -
Thats not a good sight for any westfield owner the front end engine bay etc looks untouched if I were you i would defo be looking at a buy back that was one of the best westies around pre accident you've got to get it back to its previous condition.

Another sad day today, only made worse by KGM insurance inactivity and dragging their feet. They really were awful to deal with, despite me calling them weekly to chase them up. Not only did my emails go unanswered, but were actually unread for over a week! I've included some images of the damage. The N/S lowered floor was also rippled, but hard to photograph and the scuttle panel was pushed up a good inch. Allowing daylight into the footwell.

I think for the effort involved it would make sense to go for the full cage especially the full one is still reasonably accessible.

Same as me but turbo so should be fine. They only have red in stock atm though, so will wait until the others come back in. -
Thanks for the replies. I was interested as having never tried it myself, probably OK at the moment but wouldn't want to make the car undriveable in the future. I can see the issues of not wearing a helmet which is one of the reasons I wanted to find a rear only one, not many around and caged didn't seem interested in making just a rear section.

It's more of a spiral channel than a thread. 1/4 lock idea. I checked mine sealed first before I got it powder coated. Just wipe some oil on the o ring before fitting. Mine engine is a 2.0 LTR Zetec blacktop. -
As for disadvantages as per title, helmets would be advisable although whether a disadvantage depends upon your viewpoint. Then there is the fact the cage could kill you without a helmet. I often drive without one which is weird because I actually prefer wearing one for many reasons. Laziness or forgetfulness I'm not sure which it is 😂

One of our WhatsApp group lads recently did his, not without some issues IIRC

Ah yes, I've seen that one myself but didn't think it looked like it would fit mine, the thread bit is different I think. I'll go check because I could easily be mistaken. -
I’m leaning towards retro fitting a full FIA cage over the winter. The only reason I’m not 100%, is the fact I’d need to drill my chassis rails as I don’t have the pre-drilled holes already….🤔
