If only I had a roof or tonneau… -
Wait and see if they come back to you when they realise they are not going to get £5k for it elsewhere. You never know! These companies do like to try it on with customers don't they!

oh, and when I was leaving the infield at the end of the day, all I did, and others often did similar, is put my tonneau cover on, and leave it like that overnight. Some put roofs up if they had them. If rain was expected overnight, we have often put things like shower caps on too. -

PS, don’t do what I stupidly did one year, and leave your personal admission ticket in the car, with the car admission ticket! You will need it to get back in to the circuit! But you’ll also need it to use the free bus service. (Thank goodness I had enough info on me and was in a big group of other Westfield owners on the infield, they took pity on me and let me on the bus!) -

Most years I’ve been, we’ve driven into the circuit on the Friday morning, (having arrived Thursday evening or afternoon) and left them there for the duration. It’s much easier - there can be some big queues to get into the circuit in the mornings. Though as I’ve often left around noon on the Sunday, rather than the full day, I’ve usually taken the car out on the Saturday and kept it at the camp till I leave. Woodlands campsite has normally had a regular shuttle service that circulates the site - it’s a big site, which you can hop on, that takes you to and from the big carpark opposite the circuit, where the busses into and round the circuit run from. So it’s dead easy getting into and out of the track. They run well into the evening as well, for the evening festival type events. - Today

They wanted over £5k to buy it back, so certainly not viable for me anyway.
-
Now that is the sort of encourage I do not need, or is it…..! 🤣
-
Order it! Worry about fitting it afterwards ! 😂
-
@Mat Jackson 1975 I’ll have a look for some photos and forward them to you 👍🏼
-
I’d seen that you have recently done it. Maybe I need to pick your brains before ordering…..

Do you guys tend to leave your cars in the circuit overnight or drive them into woodlands? -
It’s a fairly simple job to do!!
-
Matt, do you have any photos or details of your custom tonneau?

My first Donington GP experience!

I've overly done 5 track days at Donington and not seen much silliness.... mind you, I always sit out the first 20 mins to let the "popcorn remap" brigade get the adrenaline out of their systems by throwing their cars into the gravel 😂 -

I was chatting with Dave last time I did a Donington evening. I prefer the national circuit and was heaving a grumble why he only does the GP circuit now. He explained that the main reason is the national circuit is used more for racing, therefore on track days you get more wanna be racing drivers and teams testing and practising. He gets a better mix of road cars on the GP circuit. The last evening session I did there a month or so ago also had no red flags. Unheard of at Donington, but perhaps in part due to his very open moan at people's behaviour of donuts in the pit lane and dealing in garage 14!!! -

That must be very old oil, mine is crystal clear still. All the more reason to clean away the shame! 😂 -
Seeing that silencer made me shudder. Thank god he hit your nearside. Sorry you're having to go through this crap mate.

You don't use orange oil then Steve that surprises me. -
Thats not a good sight for any westfield owner the front end engine bay etc looks untouched if I were you i would defo be looking at a buy back that was one of the best westies around pre accident you've got to get it back to its previous condition.

Another sad day today, only made worse by KGM insurance inactivity and dragging their feet. They really were awful to deal with, despite me calling them weekly to chase them up. Not only did my emails go unanswered, but were actually unread for over a week! I've included some images of the damage. The N/S lowered floor was also rippled, but hard to photograph and the scuttle panel was pushed up a good inch. Allowing daylight into the footwell.

I think for the effort involved it would make sense to go for the full cage especially the full one is still reasonably accessible.

Same as me but turbo so should be fine. They only have red in stock atm though, so will wait until the others come back in. -
Thanks for the replies. I was interested as having never tried it myself, probably OK at the moment but wouldn't want to make the car undriveable in the future. I can see the issues of not wearing a helmet which is one of the reasons I wanted to find a rear only one, not many around and caged didn't seem interested in making just a rear section.
