What the postie brought today!
Flying Carrot Steve replied to Stuart Davis AO - Devon Cornwall & Somerset's topic in The Start Line
That must be very old oil, mine is crystal clear still. All the more reason to clean away the shame! 😂 -
Seeing that silencer made me shudder. Thank god he hit your nearside. Sorry you're having to go through this crap mate.

You don't use orange oil then Steve that surprises me. -
Thats not a good sight for any westfield owner the front end engine bay etc looks untouched if I were you i would defo be looking at a buy back that was one of the best westies around pre accident you've got to get it back to its previous condition.

Another sad day today, only made worse by KGM insurance inactivity and dragging their feet. They really were awful to deal with, despite me calling them weekly to chase them up. Not only did my emails go unanswered, but were actually unread for over a week! I've included some images of the damage. The N/S lowered floor was also rippled, but hard to photograph and the scuttle panel was pushed up a good inch. Allowing daylight into the footwell.

I think for the effort involved it would make sense to go for the full cage especially the full one is still reasonably accessible.

Same as me but turbo so should be fine. They only have red in stock atm though, so will wait until the others come back in. -
Thanks for the replies. I was interested as having never tried it myself, probably OK at the moment but wouldn't want to make the car undriveable in the future. I can see the issues of not wearing a helmet which is one of the reasons I wanted to find a rear only one, not many around and caged didn't seem interested in making just a rear section.

It's more of a spiral channel than a thread. 1/4 lock idea. I checked mine sealed first before I got it powder coated. Just wipe some oil on the o ring before fitting. Mine engine is a 2.0 LTR Zetec blacktop. - Today

As for disadvantages as per title, helmets would be advisable although whether a disadvantage depends upon your viewpoint. Then there is the fact the cage could kill you without a helmet. I often drive without one which is weird because I actually prefer wearing one for many reasons. Laziness or forgetfulness I'm not sure which it is 😂

One of our WhatsApp group lads recently did his, not without some issues IIRC

Ah yes, I've seen that one myself but didn't think it looked like it would fit mine, the thread bit is different I think. I'll go check because I could easily be mistaken. -
I’m leaning towards retro fitting a full FIA cage over the winter. The only reason I’m not 100%, is the fact I’d need to drill my chassis rails as I don’t have the pre-drilled holes already….🤔

My first Donington GP experience!
Rob Hunter - Club Secretary replied to Rob Hunter - Club Secretary 's topic in Track Days
Definitely not talent, probably more to do with an under developed fear gland! 😂 No, it's not been on the dyno since fitting the throttle bodies, I installed the factory developed Omex map which works a treat. Obviously it's a bit more powerful but the throttle response is the main improvement, with the lightweight flywheel it punches very hard in gear but keeps the flexibility it always had. -
They do DEFINITELY look awesome!

We must compare entry and exit techniques sometime 🤣

Anglesey 4/5th October -entries open

Is there an entry list? From what I see doesnt seem to have been populated yet....oh and I have entered -
I have a full FIA cage, an aero screen and lowered floors on my car. As for disadvantages there are none, I get in and out through the top of the cage with and without a helmet on. I also have a custom tonneau which is no different than getting in a car with full wet gear, there’s a technique of getting in of course but no harder! The advantages are; extra safety compared to a normal roll bar, you feel much safer with it and they look awesome!

Disadvantages of a full Cage ?
Kit Car Electronics and Essex AO replied to Steve G.'s topic in The Start Line
I find getting in through the side of a full cage is very easy, but getting out does need a bit of flexibility... Although nothing is as difficult as a standard car with full weather gear! -

I've found it easier to get in with a cage and much easier to get out with one. I tried the top entry method, in fact I posted a video on here showing me attempting it as it was so flipping hilarious! If you're skinny no problem but at my size not good, much easier to get in and out from the side for me.

It looks stunning. Great spec list too. If I didn't already have one I'd be extremely tempted by that. -
