How the hell did they ever get all that into a Westie! Amazing.

As Captain said, prepare and give them your expectations and sound rational. I too have been through the pain with a tin top and did just that, list of cars with similar mileages, specs and ages. they could not really argue too much once the evidence was provided. it may be quite easy with a factory spec Mondeo but as it's potentially difficult to find an exact match for a Westi you may have to provide some higher and lower spec cars and justify where yours sits. You may even be able to talk to people like toy box on the likely price they'd be selling a car of that spec for. good luck

And this is Westfield House, (yes, the very place in Armitage) that gave its name - for the eagle eyed amongst you, may even spot the inspiration for the "sunburst logo". -
@Martin Hewes AO Surrey can you introduce @AwB to the Surrey crowd

Thanks for the messages folks. Not so many Westfields on the roads near me (Haslemere, Surrey), but I did pass a red one with Toybox stripes on my second run, with lots of enthusiastic waving from my daughter and I. So far a source of many grins, particularly with passing traffic heading towards Goodwood FOS this weekend. I'm still going through all of the build details, layout sketches, hand-drawn loom design etc, which is all present if not chaotically "organised" in box files. Love it. I'm a complete nerd for this stuff, but I have a feeling I'm in good company! The original build got a little write-up in PH, back in the day, and there's been quite a few improvements since... and only 11k miles https://www.pistonheads.com/news/clubmans-pistonheads/super-westie/5524

I read something elsewhere and it reminded me there is such a thing as an age related plate if enough parts were used from a single donor. I think the make and model should be the make of the kit car not the donor though.

I bought my Honda Beat from Japan. Its quite nerve wracking buying a car from half way around the world based on a couple of pictures π Paying that much money into a Latvian bank account would give me the fear! I went to an import company called Japanese Performance and Nostalgia. They used to be BHP imports. They had a really good reputation. They were owned by a couple of guys called Baz and Adz. To begin with they were great. But just before my car arrived in the UK Adz left the business. He started his own import company called originjapan. I would certainly recommend him if you're ever in the market for an import. Unfortunately that left me with Baz. He was unbelievably bad. He left my 30 year old japanese car for 40 days in a dockyard in the middle of winter. It was then all downhill from there. I had to threaten him with trading standards multiple times. He refused to speak to me and it eventually it took him 7 months from the car being delivered, to him eventually sorting out the import paperwork. I can't describe how frustrating that was.

Just press the little black button to the right of the speedo and above the hazard switch. Got two trip counters, really handy for your fuel range, plus a few other features including your maximum speed. Just hold it down to reset the value you are in.
