Protect yourself and your friends on Group Drives
AndrewBClarke posted a topic in Local Area Meets, Events & Kit Car Shows
If you go out and about on group trips in your Westfield here is a word of caution……………. I appreciate that this type of article can be boring but please read on as it is in your personal interest to think about the consequences either as a driver or organiser. There is now legal case law that if something goes wrong, the organiser is checked out to ensure they were qualified to organise the event, that risk assessments were completed, that ‘due diligence’ was carried out and that public liability insurances were in place etc. If there is an issue can you be sure that the organiser has such proof that they organised the event within the law? As a driver, are you willing to take your friend who organised the event to court if something serious went wrong? As the organiser are you willing to take the responsibility / risk? To plan a group trip out, the only way to ensure that you personally are not taking any unnecessary risk, is simply to add the event onto the club website hence making it a club event and not a personal one. The club holds the necessary public liability cover and as a registered car club will ensure that things like ‘due diligence’ etc are automatically fulfilled. As a driver, please consider only go on group trips that are included on the club website. Obviously there is a grey area about how many friends make a ‘group’ etc but if you are willing to organise a trip out that includes WSCC members / guests then please list it on the club website and avoid all of the hassle and stress that you could face. The entry on the club website could be as simple as a link to a social media group so there is no need to make wholesale changes. It will also make trips ‘all inclusive’ to members who are not aware of the local social media group and will also make the club appear to be very busy indeed and worthwhile joining! Win Win all round - just for entering a small note on the website.-

Apologies Al, glad you sold them. Now where were we.... This is the 2nd time recently I've seen in here bad news about insurance underwriters, last time it was Markerstudy who I'm with via AIB. All a bit worrying tbh -

This is somewhat off topic now 🤣, but the deflectors are sold!
-
I think a lot of us may be. Used by both Howden and AIB to my knowledge
-
Oh… that’s who I am with 😳
-
I tried to use the bathroom scales one time but the Mrs wasn't too impressed 😁 . Joking aside it was something that i kept meaning to do but never got round to it. Let's just say when i need to push it about with it not having a reverse gear it's very easy

A hood bag from the very helpful Laura at www.tigercars.co.uk via eBay. They are happy to make them without the Tiger logo and have piping to suit most car colours. If you do go down that route, ask for the straps to be made a little longer as ours are a bit tight on the Jap rollbar. Otherwise, very pleased with it. Also a matching hat from some random safety wear company 😎 -
Believe it or not but I'm still waiting on the settlement from KGM insurance! They really are the worst insurance company to deal with, my second formal complaint has just been acknowledged, so hopefully see an end to it soon...

Mathew Vernon - Membership Secretary replied to Steve G.'s topic in The Start Line
Is WSCC attending the Replica & Self Build show in an official capacity? I notice that they're doing deals on group bookings, although entry is pretty cheap anyhow (and even cheaper if you display). Also saw that Westfield Chesil are listed as an exhibitor, so looks like the factory are supporting. -

Interesting, I did wonder if it would be free entry for kits. Not surprised it's not. Though they're not exactly expensive. Not sure how the camping will work, though given the fee is for up to 6 people per pitch. -
