    What the postie brought today!

Great info ta! As well as the front ride height changing between 185s and 205s, do you find any issue with the front wing width? I'm really keen to get your view on how the 205s do on the front, so will be looking out for posts on that.

    What the postie brought today!

@markcwalker @Flying Carrot Steve I run a staggered set upon mine. 13x6 front and 13x8 rears. On the front I normally run 185/60 R888R or 185/55 Avon ZZS or ZZR, although I'm trying 205/60 AR1 on one set. On the rear I normally run 215/55 Avon ZZS or ZZR or 235/45 Kumho V70a. The 235/45 AR1's in the photo are replacing the Kumho's on one set. My "wet" set will now have 185/60 R888R and 215/55 ZZS. My "dry" set will now have 205/60 and 235/45 AR1. I do adjust the ride heights between the 2 sets to keep the nose down attitude (stops understeer) but that only takes 30 mins with a C spanner. In terms of front end grip, the 185's are fine even with the heavyish MegaS2000.... The semi slicks like a bit of heat so going slightly narrower doesnt make a difference when pushing on. On track it keeps a nice balance between just a touch of understeer at the limit and over steer at on the power (the S2000 engine easily overwhelms the rears!). For reference, the Caterham 620R uses the same 185 and 215 staggered set up (I use the Caterham Apollo wheels from the 620R). Now the Avons are out of production, Jack Webb are recommending the Kumho V70a in 175 section on the front. We will see how the 205's do on track at Donington in a couple of weeks 🤞

    What the postie brought today!

New Victor Reinz exhaust manifold gasket for when I find time to remove the manifold and turbo and finally fix the loose turbo nuts once and for all! Locking nuts, Nordlock washers and extreme high temp threadlocker on the way to me, hopefully they will stay tight with all that in place!

That was my next question too.

    What the postie brought today!

Wow! Those tyres look great! Very low and wide though. Do you do a lot of track work? I run 205/60x13 all round, but even at that size some people still say to go smaller on the front. I don't really understand why tbh, my front end grip is brilliant and the steering isn't heavy anyway. Less weight with say a 185 of course but also less grip?

    What the postie brought today!

New boots! Looking forward to seeing how the AR1 compares to the V70a, R888r's, ZZS and ZZR Also picked up a PX600 airbox for a bargain price, hopefully this will help keep me below the 98db drive by at Donington!

    MX5 mk2 parts

So I'm not sure if i can post these here as they ain't no Westy stuff but someone out there may be wanting these anyways. There's a load of leftovers from a number of 1.8 mk2 engine changes. This is some of it but theres allsorts in the here: couple of inlet manifolds exhaust manifold with reasonable heatshield Skimmed cylinder head Cam cover Sump Alternator Starter motor Injectors Coils Axle not included. Not sure whether any of this is worth anything but make me an offer. Kind regards RobT Forgot the 5spd gearbox

    Recent snap of your Westfield

Third completed TD with MNR – still no issues and..no spins! Re - spins — a slightly different story compared to my early Westfield days 😏. For this TD, the organiser required a side window net to be fitted — needed a bit of welding, etc., but it’s done and gives some extra confidence. Need to do the same im track Westfield .

Warwickshire Area meeting Thursday August 14th

As discussed in the OP, we will meet at the usual place, but one week earlier, that is the 14th August. The weather is looking very good this week, so there should be a good turnout out of Westfields, and other kit cars!

They don’t use British currency in Dubai, either to spend or light cigars.
  17. 1st car goes to Dubai, where they light cigars with a 20 pound note doesn't look good.

Assorted Westy Bits - and a few more

Hi can I take the aero screen please, can collect to suit.
  20. I might of missed this but any idea of cost fully built or kit, if they are offering kits? I’m guessing it’s going to be caterham pricing territory.

Assorted Westy Bits - and a few more

May I have the catch tank please Regards Simon
  22. I see there’s a proper column mounted indicator stalk in the grey one. Wonder if it can be retro fitted?
  23. Are the rear wheels on spacers?
  24. Having sold the car its time to move on the bits that are hiding in the corners. Westfield exhaust manifold for a 1.6 Mk2 MX5. I believe it added a few bhp but it did sound nice £395 Sold Westfield oil catch tank with original mounting and some flexy hoses. Some of the chassis have mountings included for these. Proper 1litre capacity. £30 Sold Black windscreen frame with a cracked screen. I believe its easy to get the glass replaced but haven't needed to myself. Free to collector Not sure what these engine mounts were from but they are new. Too thick for my MX5 engine so didn't get used.£10 pair Sold Took this aero screen off and fitted a screen. It has a crack from storage but will work fine if your not too fussy. Free to collector Sold I've a few MX5 bits which are in a separate ad if you're interested. Would prefer collection as postage has got so expensive but make me a reasonable offer on anything you like the look of RobT I found some more Raised sump for MX5 mk2 1.6 with baffle and shortened pickup pipe. £50 Windscreen wiper setup. All works fine. Motor with mounting and cover. Wiper gearboxes have all the fittings for the body and wiper arms. Chrome wiper arms with blades. £50

Sharing what you’ve just done. Not questions. No comments required.

Lots of people on holiday this month, but still a great turnout from the regulars today - the weather was perfect and a little carpark DIY happened as I fitted a BlinkSTOP with new plug & play loom to Paul's incredible Atom 4. Paul always forgets to turn his indicators off, and sure enough it came into use immediately on his drive home 🙂
  27. It always seem to be more trouble than it's worth to me!

    What have we done?

Great success! Lift is in and working and the Spitfire fits a treat, although it seems to be p*ssing petrol straight out of one carb 🙄 I need to move a scaffold pole that was used for hanging stuff off and then I can get it about another 18” higher. Certainly more than enough room for the Westfield to live on bottom bunk, I will have to protect it from golden showers though 😂
