Me too! -
I've got one that's not been up to much in the last 4 years. It's one of the very last of the line with the cross bolted block and whatnot. It is attached to a Discovery 2 though... always a caveat!
-
I'm also wary of a used engine, but a rebuild will be at least £3-4K and that is before you discover anything untoward once you open the engine up.
-
Might be a good time for a good rebuild I'm always wary of used engines, you never know how they have been used or the internals state... If it's not broken, a good cylinder hone and new rings are all you need.
-
Yes, I missed out on that one unfortunately. The listing says "sold in need of basic strip and check over". I really need a running engine, otherwise I can just rebuild my current one. There is no such thing as a cheap rebuild though, hence looking for a complete running engine. The one on facebook is probably the same one @joolz is thinking about. I'm not looking for a car, the engine is all I need to replace my sickly 3.9 SEiGHT engine...

there was one from an MG V8 complete with gearbox and other stuff for 1500 pounds the other day, so cheap I suspect it's been snapped up because I can't find it now.

I'm sure I've seen two recently. Pretty sure one was on Facebook. I'll try and find them Is it the actual engine you want or a car with that set-up?

Oh I am aware of a number of examples I wouldn’t mention on this forum. I am an automotive engineer with knowledge of off road vehicles and latterly executive vehicles. -

Hmmm, call me a sceptical but if they are Chinese made is the DOT marking even legit? They are not exactly shy about blatantly coping things or ignoring rules and regs are they! -
