  14. From the mind and workshops of @Martyn Vann - Warwickshire AO, snazzy custom aluminium windscreen mounting clips for my Longacre rear view mirror. He put in a lot of effort and made several prototypes before finalising the design and testing it on his own car at motorway speeds. Notice how the near side mount is slightly longer to angle the mirror better towards the driver! Looking forward to trying it out soon once The Wench is back on the road for April. Big thanks Martyn, you’re a true star!

Outdoor car cover for the warmer months?

When my westfield was living in a carcoon, it's back in one again this year. I just unzipped the two short sides and one long side and then moved the top over to the side which was still zipped. I'd generally put some weight in (wheely bins) and do the bubble back up. When I get back, it's re-open the bubble the same way, remove the bins and put the car back, the can cools down pretty quickly and so the bubble can be done up after a few mins. This does depend on having space to the side of the bubble to take the detatched bubble while you get the car in and out.

Outdoor car cover for the warmer months?

During summer, when I know I will ride my Westfield more often, I just drive onto the Carcoon floor and, when the exhaust is cold, cover the car with the bubble without zipping it—just using it like a regular car cover. It’s waterproof, at least for light rain, and if some water gets on the floor, it does no harm to the car. This zipping and unzipping is no fun at all

Sharing what you’ve just done. Not questions. No comments required.

Collected the car from JP Exhausts, where they have made up a very tidy link pipe from the old downpipe to the new carbon silencer. Very pleased with their work.

Have a great day @Phippsy @Martin Letts - Joint Hampshire & IOW AO @Mighty Mart
  23. i used both r888r and ar1 for trackdays. i always found that the r888r warmed up quicker but had a bit less feedback from the tyre during the sessions. Ar1s took a bit longer to warm up but seemed to have better feedback throughout the session in the dry maybe because the ar1 has a slightly bigger full tyre surface area. the r888r was a better tyre if it was slightly dam or i got caught out in a shower on a session again probs due to more tread pattern less surface area. i have just purchased a set of hankook z205 road legal rally tyres to try. as a cheaper alternative got them from tyretek. https://www.tyretek.co.uk/collections/13-inch?srsltid=AfmBOoq_YVKuP5dBAVYdVLRJb0ohxKw3LlOZzsJrqczu7v0NqbJukbFl they sell part worn ar1s and r888rs i always fancied trying the avon zzr or the zzs cant remember which one. just my 2pence worth im by no means a racing driver

SEALSKINZ Upwell heated, water proof cycling gloves, size XL. £65

I’ll have my new ones with me on Sunday too, but can take the ones for sale along, if anyone’s interested. As Julie says, an absolute game changer on longer trips in a Westfield. Of course, they’re biking gloves, technically, so perfect for winter biking, and as Julie said, any other outdoor activities, too!

SEALSKINZ Upwell heated, water proof cycling gloves, size XL. £65

I might be guilty of recommending these gloves . I have been driving my Westfield in a pair of these every winter for the last 7 or so years and they are a game changer. When you have to psych up for the cold hands on the steering wheel and then you think oh I will just put the electric gloves on, it's great, you arrive at your destination comfortable. I only ever use them on setting number 1, more than that and it's too warm, although it's nice to put them on number 3 before you go out for a toastie start. I have female sized hands though, so they fit me perfectly and I can just pop them on and off easily, I recommend you try them on. They are also useful to wear for any outdoor hobbies, not just driving. Good luck with the sale, Dave, and if anyone has any questions or is near the Peak District, I will be wearing mine on Sunday, you are welcome to come and have a look at them.
