WESTFIELD SEIGHT 4.6 JOHN EALES ENG. REDUCED PRICE.

What if you have no value given on the V5 but your engine is more modern?
  3. If you’re on a Q plate then there is no emissions test. If you’re on have a non Q plate then if you don’t have a value on you V5C then they can’t test emissions. If the MOT tester says they can/will then they need re-training as the guidance is clear & obvious.
  4. Ian, if you check your V5C does it have an emissions value? If it does then that is what they have to test too. If it doesn’t, they they cannot test to a random value & believe it is then same as a Q plt ie visible smoke test only @Martyn Vann - Warwickshire AO can you confirm?
  5. Hi all, I love this subject! So I brought my V8 with a current MOT & didn’t research MOT / emissions / SVA and basically hadn’t got a clue (& probs still don’t!) Then more by luck than judgment I got talking to our MOT guru @Martyn Vann - Warwickshire AO at WSCC Black Country meet. In May 2024 I had to take it for 1st MOT under my ownership & with mine having a CAT installed as part of the original factory but & also being non Q plt was worried I may have issues. Martin then pointed me to the FAQ flow chart & advised that as it was registered in Jan 1999 was subject to emissions test during MOT but asked me to bring along my V5C to next meet. Result - Martyn took a look at V5C and showed me there isn’t any recorded emissions from when SVA was completed & when it gets MOT’d the tester can only test to the emissions value on the V5C - or to nothing as there is no recorded value. So to back this up, I researched my engine number for the LRV V8 3.9 EFI & we found/believe it to be from a batch of engines that were manufactured in early 1990’s and therefore prior to SVA & no record of emissions value/data, so I took this record of my engine manufactured date & V5C & Martyn’s chart to my MOT test centre & it’s passed both tests completed in last 2 years. So my advise, follow Martyn’s flow chart, check your V5C for an emissions value & if possible identify the date of manufacture of your engine & take the docs with you for MOT - if the tester says “I have to test to a pre-recorded value” ask them to check the MOT training/guidance & show them the chart, the V5C & the date of manufacture & they have to test to that. I’m also lucky here as I have a long relationship with the tester 30 + years & he was impressed with my level of knowledge / documentation when presenting Martyn’s plagiarised documentation. Happy days.

    What the postie brought today!

Never regretted buying my 13” CXR’s! I love them despite the limited tyre choice. I would suggest before you fit the tyres is get them ceramic coated, I used Gtechniq C5 wheel armour and the water still beads off of them 👍🏼

I'm still looking to hold it a The Vine in Wombourne. I need thoughts numbers pretty quick to be sure of making the booking. see you Sunday Thanks Rhett 7pm, 2nd November at the Dudley Arms, Himley. Type 9 Gear lever extension

Do you have a photo of your gear lever showing its position and how cranked it is? Can the reverse lockout still be operated with a bent lever or does it become awkward? Cheers, David
  23. The V5 may differ from the MoT testing equipment figures though. Most confusing.
  24. Bonnet mould having release coats applied, and between coats getting templates made up for the cloth layup. Thinking of doing a 0/90 spread tow for the scoop, and twill for the remainder. 45/45 biax mid layer, and coremat for extra stiffness. Haven’t done weight calcs yet, but should end up much lighter than the grp bonnet, and of course be much stiffer. Haven’t decided on vents as yet, but will make these separately and make them into a feature. Using the plug for my templates, and will be doing an infusion.

    A wrap idea

It is, even Westfield gave up on offering their old green in the colour matching service they had. From memory, the chemicals used in the pigments for the old greens have been banned from use for years now, amd without them, you can never get a true match.
  26. Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman)

    A wrap idea

Very true, though just keep in mind that paint and gel coat do reflect light differently, so some colours don't math quite as well under all lighting. (My Electric Blue looks radically different under electric light compared to daylight, and under daylight, a bright, intense, high summer sun, looks completely different to a weaker winter sun. (Even where colour temps should be similar).
  27. Ewan

    A wrap idea

I don't have any paint. Just the original green gelcoat. So matching is much harder. I work in the yacht coating industry and have had a couple of gelcoat repair specialists look, and they both said it would be a very tricky match. Painting the car would be an easy option, but then the original gelcoat would be lost forever.
