New Stoneleigh Show 2026- The Replica and self build Festival

The Kit and Sports Car Show at Lincoln is the one I was thinking of. It's on at the end of this month I believe? Although I also hear it's been cancelled?
  3. Wrong thread mate, should be in Bad Pun of the Day 😛
  4. Fine for home, but what about in the car?

Disadvantages of a full Cage ?

I did try searching, but unfortunately, the old faithful sites with parts weights seem to have finally succumbed to time and disappeared. (not really surprised, they must have been twenty or more years old at this point, with the old owners not having much involvement for some time).

Disadvantages of a full Cage ?

Not a lot, compared to the others, but then it is NOT a safety device and is not structural, it's a cosmetic item, although on an FW it does act as the rear support for the roof.

    1st Sept Donington Track evening

I think that's at least 7 of us signed up now! Great mix of cars too 👍 Still a few spots left

New Stoneleigh Show 2026- The Replica and self build Festival

Instead of seeing this as a reason not to attend, see it as a reason to attend: volunteer, camp over, get fed and watered for free!
  10. Not sure.. Can't say I've noticed one
  11. Yea, I've done 50,000 miles in it.. 👍
  12. Yea, I know they didn't move through choice, but their choice could have been in the centre of the country! It added an hour to the drive! Stoneleigh is the shorter of the x2 screenshots. The showground selected moved further to the south/West.. Making a day journey impossible now. It was just possible previously.

    Bad day

    My prediction's an MK.

Disadvantages of a full Cage ?

my old RAC bar was quite heavy - something like 12kg I think, so changing to a full cage only picked up about 15kg total, but I felt the increased body stiffness was immediately obvious on the road, so a great improvement just for that.

Disadvantages of a full Cage ?

I've often wondered how much a cage weighs, that's helpful info for me ta @Kit Car Electronics and Essex AO helps me compare my heavy old thing weight-wise to cars without a full cage. Anyone know how much an MSA/RAC or Jap bar weighs? Hopefully I've got the correct names this time? 😂

Disadvantages of a full Cage ?

It's quite light (well under 30kg) so easy to hang from the ceiling while fitting and just lift/lower a few times while carefully drilling the holes with step drills etc

    Bad day

I won't be rushing into anything, I'm away on a road trip to the Alps in a couple of weeks and will be towards the end of September before I'm back.

    Bad day

Get another Westie @Craigieboy, maybe this one? £24,950 but £24k on WSCC for sale ads. It's a lot but what a car! If I didn't already have the Carrot I reckon that would be in my garage by now 😂 https://www.pistonheads.com/buy/listing/18612193
  19. I always found that removing carpets and drilling holes in the floor was the best option 🤣

    Bad day

My condolences, I know how much passion and attachment theses cars create within us. A sad day indeed, I wish you well on the next part of your car journey. Hopefully you can find a suitable alternative for that dopamine hit. A Lotus maybe?

Thanks for the reply. Might be a good starting point for me to modify I'm interested, I wonder which ones would be the closest match
  22. Just bought my self a Halfords cover as a back up!!

    Silverstone Festival 22nd to 24th August 2025

You’ll see plenty of open cars left open too! Just make sure if there’s is anything left in there, it’s well tucked away, not valuable, and not likely to get blown out of the car or anything overnight, the circuit is a big open place, so does occasionally get windy.
  24. If only I had a roof or tonneau…

    Bad day

Wait and see if they come back to you when they realise they are not going to get £5k for it elsewhere. You never know! These companies do like to try it on with customers don't they!

    Silverstone Festival 22nd to 24th August 2025

oh, and when I was leaving the infield at the end of the day, all I did, and others often did similar, is put my tonneau cover on, and leave it like that overnight. Some put roofs up if they had them. If rain was expected overnight, we have often put things like shower caps on too.

PS, don’t do what I stupidly did one year, and leave your personal admission ticket in the car, with the car admission ticket! You will need it to get back in to the circuit! But you’ll also need it to use the free bus service. (Thank goodness I had enough info on me and was in a big group of other Westfield owners on the infield, they took pity on me and let me on the bus!)
