Looks like I’ve finished it !!! (well, still need to work on the corner weight, but I've set the rest of the geometry), but I’m almost afraid to say it (finished) ... because whenever I do, something turns out to need reworking and time flies. It has flown by so fast that I feel older and less eager for a machine that is definitely more extreme than the Westfields I used to drive. And now I don’t know if I’ll be able to ride it; it really seems fast (Honda CBR 1000RR, 192 horsepower, 129 Nm). After short run around home today, to bring temperatures to working area, check brakes etc.. brrrr it was sometimes scarry and loud, very loud (it has smal motocycle silencer )

Warwickshire Area Meeting, Thursday 17th April
Martyn Vann - Warwickshire AO posted a topic in Local Area Meets, Events & Kit Car Shows
Just a reminder that it's time for the next meeting tomorrow, at The Falcon, Birmingham Road, Hatton, CV35 7HA, from around 7.30pm. Hopefully, the weather will play ball and allow a good turnout of cars! Don't forget about the A46 closure! Check your route if you normally use the A46. See you there! -

Can I have an email copy of my club membership card or post one to me. I am at gurston next weekend and they need to see it apparently. -
QED website is showing the fitted height for the previous "MKI" springs. Good springs but they were limited on valve lift at 0.450" so that's presumably part of the reason that they have changed the spec. I've used Turbosport lifters on a number of occasions and they've always been fine. With all types you sometimes get one or two that are a bit tighter in the bores than the others but if the majority are the same then there is clearly a manufacturing issue. Can't go wrong with Piper stuff, I'm currently using their springs. Pricey but a good deal can be had from Anderson Race Engines. ARE lifters are good too.

Selling due to lack of use, its mint. 2.0 Zetec blacktop. Engine was replaced a few years ago, its covered around 3k miles i would say. Currently has 12880 on the clock. Ive had it 2 years and had a new clutch, new diff. Its on twin webers which run perfectly. 2 fat folders worth of history down to nuts and bolts used on the build. It had a mini restoration by a previous owner a few years ago, which i have aprox 100+ photos from. New suspension brakes, and the engine. Ive covered probably 600miles in the two years ive had it which just isnt enough for me justify keeping it. I know i will regret it massively.. £11950

Hi Andrei, Welcome to Westfield ownership! I’m afraid it looks like Carbon NV has stopped trading now which is a shame. I’m not aware of any similar doors available but others may be able to help. Stu -

Hello! I am Andrei Mitrasca. I live in Romania and just bought a Westfield to race on hill climb events. I am very interested in these half doors that you fitted with those hinges. Where can I buy the same as yours? The link carbon-nv.co.uk doesn’t work. -

Much of my workshop testing is done on the basis that it's not stupid if it works .. so may i present zetec induction length testing version 1.0 I will collate the results and put them in my westy repair and development thread. In the meantime have a giggle. -
I’m sure I have given you this when you bought my Westfield off me. Go take another look in your garage 🤪

Bit of a long shot, but has anyone got the wiring loom with switch, etc which goes with a heated windscreen?

QED fitted length is misleading, as their website says one thing and then the box they come in say different. I think they're close to the piper cams fitted length now. I've ordered caps and springs from Piper Cams, so hopefully they'll be here in the next day or so? I used POGO for the vernier pulleys. They seem very well made, but with customs, it took ages for them to arrive at my door. Turbosport - I'm having issues with him as I purchased the solid lifters, and only 2 would fit! Returned them and he is refusing full refund as he says its something I've done???? Clearly they're machined incorrectly as they slide in 1/3rd of the way and then get stuck.... He says he won't refund them as they have marks on them and can't sell them on again! I said you can't sell them on again as they're no good!!!! I'm hoping I'll get a call from QED to say the caps are in stock in the next few days then I'll return the Piper ones when they arrive? Nothing is straight forward 🙄

The fitted height of the spring is often the problem with swapping retainers between manufacturers. QED's springs used to have a quite short fitted height whereas Piper spring was longer so their caps were different to accommodate this. I believe that QED's latest spec for springs is taller than before so that might open up a wider choice for you. KGP do a set at a reasonable price and Pogo's titanium versions are not far off what QED want for steel. Any manufacturer/retailer should be able to tell you what fitted height the caps suit and what diameter springs will fit too. I would avoid Turbosport. Most of their stuff is spot on but I had a set of caps that were all over the place dimensionally. I was probably unlucky and got a mix of batches but it put me off buying again.
