    Bad day

Firstly, glad you are ok and walked away. You will be totally gutted, I feel for you. Do pause on what to do next. Consider carefully your options as it sounds like a replacement chassis would be needed on a rebuild and the bodywork too. This forum will give plentiful solid advice. I feel your pain. Glad you are ok though Andy

    Bad day

Had a bad day yesterday. Out a run with my mate in the MK and was involved in an accident resulting is severe damage to the N/S of my car, just at the door area. Thankfully neither me or the other driver were injured, though I am pretty sore today. I contacted Howdens and KGM today and have sent in pictures to be reviewed by their assessors on Monday. The damage is confined to one area, the exhaust was squashed flat, the top rail at the door pushed right in and deformed the passenger seat. The lower floor has been buckled a bit and I think the transmission tunnel might be deformed too. The scuttle panel has been pushed up and there is now large gap between it and the top of the footwell. Fair to say it's a bit of a mess. I'm totally gutted, after some recent upgrades it was really going great and I had some more big runs planned. Definitely a bad day 😞

    Chrome 5 3/4 headlights - as new

Hi @CoastalCoops i would rather sell to club members, so pm me your best sensible offer. No rush to sell but would be good to get close to what I paid. Plus these I am selling come with the lens and harness. This is what I bought in September last year https://www.carbuilder.com/products/complete-headlamp-chrome-5-34 This is what I paid. I see the price now is £108 each plus delivery. Let me know what works best. Maybe by PM Thanks Andy

Lotus, Caterham and Westfield Cars Day at the Museum, Peak District, Sun 15th June, FREE

I doubt if anyone will be going in the museum. We will start relaxing with a nice coffee/food, sit and chat to allow other cars to arrive, then we will go outside to have a look at all the cars and chat with their owners. When everyone is ready we will go for a run out, as it is Spare Seat Pete's birthday we will finish at the Bakewell Tap Room for a zero alcohol beer and pizza. (Riverside Brewery, Buxton Road, Bakewell, DE45 1GS) If you want to go around the museum, I suggest you go straight in (it opens at 9.30) or come back in the afternoon on the way home. @Tony H there are 2 petrol stations in Bakewell 😁just sayin'
  17. Will there be many going in the museum & how long will we have if we go in after breakfast?

    Electricity bills !

I think that used to be the case but now I think that we've just reached the point where it's really hard to hit increasingly stringent emissions standards without badly compromising reliability.

    MOT woes again!!

Hi all, just thought I’d give you an update after a bit of a wait .. the Westy has passed its MOT today as a non cat vehicle using the engine specialist report I got and emails from DVSA! You should see the smile on my face and a great day for a blast! Thanks to all for your help and advice with this!!

I believe they call it 'inbuilt obsolescence' Manufacturers love that stuff. More repair work, shorter lifespan, more sales, more profit etc

Yeah... no local stock. They claim 7 days delivery till they try to place the order... honda will not serve it to them.

Good Shout Ash. I've placed a post there. Let's see.

    Electricity bills !

That's certainly true. We seem to have gone from over built boat anchor engines that easily outlived the rot box bodies that they were installed into, to engines with 'improvements' like wet belts, low tension piston rings, water thin oils and the like that consign otherwise good condition cars to the scrapper.

    Electricity bills !

Charge anxiety would be a better description. Think back to our last petrol shortage when we all had ‘range anxiety’. We also suddenly discovered how far our cars could go on a gallon when driven carefully too. @joolz my MOT tester just sold his Passat. Similar story to yours, 260k, he paid £700 for it about 5 years ago IIRC. Key thing there is it predates the worst of the modern ‘improvements’. I sincerely doubt a current equivalent would perform for you as well as the Passat does. The perception, or worse, reality of being forced to adopt something new is always going to be unpopular. We naturally want to carry on just as we are. Stick to the familiar.
