Well if anyone can do it, you can Dave, hope you have a good day tomorrow and we get to eat a yummy full English at Cupola with you on Sunday morning. Glen says it's the best quality breakfast in the Peak District. 🥕 The carrot emoji is for dangling a carrot to motivate you, not that you get carrots for breakfast 😁🥰 -

ON. The current plan is that rain is heading our way in the afternoon, weather forecasts are unreliable so we intend on meeting for breakfast and taking it from there. Hopefully we can fit a run in and maybe even a pot of tea and a slice of cake.........said Worzel Gummidge here. As everyone who is coming has well over a 1 hour journey home, we will keep this one short and do our best to get you home dry. -

Hello all! Chassis number question
Gillinghampaul replied to Gillinghampaul's topic in The Start Line
That all sounds good, i am new to kit cars, so this is all new territory for me, I have done a fair bit with bikes, and ultimately I will build a car, but think I need to scratch this bec itch hopefully it fills the gap a bike leaves! -
Hello all! Chassis number question

I'd not fret too much about the Sport 2000 record. When I built and registered my S2000- here's what I put on the registration application paperwork- Here's what DVLA's online checker shows- & the V5 is blank in some of the fields- I guess it all depends how much the DVLA Clerk wanted to type in on the day, perhaps! -
Hello all! Chassis number question
Gillinghampaul replied to Gillinghampaul's topic in The Start Line
Its priced well enough for me to be happy if its been converted, it may well have been built from new with bike engine in with a live axle, just can not figure out why it comes up as sport 2000 on the reg check, but everything else seems all good, it has a quaife reverse box apparently too, I guess a sport 2000 chassis was bought and a bike engine fitted either in build or shortly after, or sport 2000 was filled out on the registration paperwork, ill never know unless I find the original builder! -
The tunnel and engine bay design on a genuine bec chassis are abit different with the driverside footwell being noticeable narrower due to how the reverse gearbox was mounted up by westfield and also in the engine bay some of the bracing tubes are missing from the bulkhead to engine bay top chassis rail to allow the fitment of the bec engine cradles . There are some genuine mega bec chassis out there that have a live axle setup and that was normally for people that wanted to save every kg as the live axle is the lighter of the two setups but they were special order only and i've seen 4 or 5 in my time. There is one thing to think about a cec chassis converted to take a bec engine on the selling market never sells aswell as a car with a genuine bec chassis unless the car is something really really special just something to think about if you did want to sell the car .

If I can find and fix the reason for the misfire I had on the way to the Cheshire Meet last night, I'll be there! (And if I can't, I'll be crying into my cornflakes at home, while you all zoom around the Peaks!!) -

Hello all! Chassis number question
Gillinghampaul replied to Gillinghampaul's topic in The Start Line
It all looke nice and official, the v5 shows the correct engine and engine size, the chassis number and vin looks good too, the mot descprtion was just a little comment on one of the car vehicle type check things, i dont know where it originates from? May be from the mot testers description? It is fairly priced and has been used well, but it is in my budget and allows me to tidy it up too, I hope to be jouning as a full member soon! -
Hello all! Chassis number question
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) replied to Gillinghampaul's topic in The Start Line
To the best of my knowledge, all BEC chassis are independent rear suspension. They also use a lighter gauge tube for the chassis and a slightly narrower tunnel, as there's no big car gearbox in it. Obviously, they also have the mounting brackets for an engine cradle, but that's the sort of thing that's easily retro fitted in a conversion. All the factory bec info I've seen usually shows a single aluminium undertray, that encloses the tunnel too. Though again, not diffinitive as could be retro fitted to most models. A well converted car to bike chassis is going to be OK, just a tiny bit heavier than an original BEC, also as it's not a factory Mega Blade, Mega Bird or Mega Busa, you'd expect the second hand value to be slightly softer. How much depends how good a conversion it is. I would want to know why the V5 is incorrect though, I'd need to satisfy myself beyond all reasonable doubt that it was laziness/ignorance or incompetence, because the incorrect engine listed on the V5 could bite you hard if an insurance claim ever needed to be made on the car, for example. Ideally, I'd want it sorting before sale, in case the swap hasn't been listed for more worrying reasons. - Again, there's nothing in principle wrong with the swap, it's just making sure it's all nice and official! -

Well, that was absolutely gutting; apologies lads if I was a bit down last night, despite attempting to drown my sorrows in the biggest fish and chips I've ever seen - cracking food as ever at the Golden Pheasant! Having finally got the car back together, and the last couple of bits buttoned up on Wednesday, I set off in the Westfield last night, for the first run since July, only to start miss-firing after the first three or four miles. It got steadily worse to the barely drivable stage. So I managed to do a U-turn round a roundabout and make it home, despite it cutting out at every stop for lights etc. So the daily tin top of shame was jumped into for the meet. Fingers crossed it's something simple and quick to fix. I'll have to try and motivate myself to have a look tomorrow. However, pleased to say the sorting out Mike @Kit Car Electronics and Essex AO did for me on the FreeWheel and BeamStop all worked flawlessly. Many thanks Mike! -
Perfectly normal 😂
