  2. I'm laughing so hard here, you seem to spot things mere mortals can't!
  3. Your less Dick Mayo and more Dick Emery!
  4. What gearbox is it? May be the angle but it looks further forward than mine. My gearstick isn't particularly long but works well enough despite that.

Pricey, but I really recommend ram mounts ball mounted phone holders - rock solid once mounted

    Westfield sport turbo seats

Yeah, they're nearly a thousand cheaper than that direct from Cobra at the moment. That's a lot to pay for Westfield embroidery.

Thank you, Captain and Mr Carrot 👍 Apologies for the lateness, however, my log ins to the land of all that is WSCC are less frequent.

Scotchguard spray is another excellent water repellent, any supermarket or shoe repair shop.

Daft questions before my first roadtrip

Wow, thanks for the replies. I'd not thought of most of these things so I'm really glad I did this thread. I'll be sure to check the wipers tonight when I do some work on the car. If I need I can pick some up from Halfords as I'm going to try to find a phone holder for the trip from there too. As I say I have the full hood so I'll use that when it rains but I'll practice putting it on tonight too. I have maguire's version of rain X so I'll put some of that on both sides too. Thanks for pointing that out as I'd forgotten about it. I have a heater and heated screen so hopefully misting will be controlled as best as possible. Great idea re the carrier bag for the side doors. I'll experiment with that too and see what I can do to prevent water coming up. The air filter is fully under bonnet so that should be OK. It's just the battery and timing belt directly under the bonnet openings that's exposed. Just researched Wojtek. That's a fantastic story, thanks for pointing it out. I'll be sure to find the statue. My nerves are abated with your help! Still on the lookout for a hotel around the lakes (ish) if anyone can recommend?
  15. Submit it and we’ll see, but I should warn you it may be used in evidence against you as well.

Daft questions before my first roadtrip

I use RainX on out side of my windows and anit fog on inside of windows as I don't have a heater and I haven't had any issues. I hit massive rain storm for 45mins on A1 last year coming back form Newark kit car show and don't have a hood. Just have a clean cloth to wipe inside windows just incase. If air filter sticks out side of your car just might be worth using some air filter cleaner and oil to protect it and rain wont soak up as bad on it.

I moved from Worcestershire to Hampshire recently and had to drive my Westfield down here in the pouring rain with the full hood on. Mainly fast dual carriageways. Long time since the hood it but it wasn't as bad as I remembered. Noisier than with it off; suggest you stuff a carrier bag down between the sidescreen and the body on both sides to stop water coming up there. Other than that the only minor issue was drips occasionally coming through the gap where the front edge of the sidescreen meets the hood/windscreen. You don't need to waterproof any switches etc. IMO. Just make sure your wipers work OK and you'll be fine

It absolutely is legit! But.... I'm not sure the words Dick and Mayo should ever appear together in the same sentence 😂

I thought that might tickle you @Craigieboy That is it's real name though! 😁 Question for @Captain Colonial, does a picture of the car at the Dick Mayo Sprint count towards your Westfield Funny Place Name Challenge? 😂

Daft questions before my first roadtrip

Echo what Rhett says, i did the NC500 last year in some truly awful weather, with half hood and half doors. The front wheels were throwing water at me and I had water dripping on me from inside the roof! I was worried about the switches and electrics, however didn't have any issue at all and everything cleaned up fine when I got home. I also bought new blades from halfords, cheap Bosch ones and cut them down. Though don't expect to much from them. Sounds like a great trip and when your in Duns you need to find Wojtek's statue and look into his story, amazing. Have a great time.
