  4. Got the local garage to replace the timing belt as I had no idea how old it was and for all I knew it could be original. It didn't look 16 years old but it was a Ford branded part so who knows? D

    What the postie brought today!

Hi Andy, are these just headlamp dipped and full-beam or do they have side lights incorporated? also where you get them from? Cheers Phil R

    Best thread repair- interesting comparison!

It's not unusual. Hispec do it with the current aluminium front uprights as part of their manufacturing process.
  7. Yeah, spotted that Mat - still deciding if I am definitely up for it (and if I do, is it camper van or boring motorways in a Lotus with no aircon 🤣)

Back in my air cooled VW days it was really common to helicoil (or equivalent) the highly stressed threaded holes in the aluminium block whether they needed it or not as a preventative measure. David

    What the postie brought today!

I'd not class Marcus Rashford as an executive!

    What the postie brought today!

Not my first thought to describe them, but perfectly accurate and very discrete!!

Good to know the chinese Helicoil are as good as the branded stuff, as I've used them on the whole exhaust side of the 1.8t cylinder head 😄 Nice video comparison btw

    WTD: Rover V8 3.9EFI

I've got one that's not been up to much in the last 4 years. It's one of the very last of the line with the cross bolted block and whatnot. It is attached to a Discovery 2 though... always a caveat!

I'm also wary of a used engine, but a rebuild will be at least £3-4K and that is before you discover anything untoward once you open the engine up.
