  2. Afternoon all. I'm getting a DA polisher for my birthday this week - what polishing compound should I use on the Westy please? It's already shiny but there's lots of swirls and few light scratches I'd like to get rid of. Someone recommended Farecla G3 but there's lots of different versions of that. Any info/tips for a novice would be most welcome. Thanks

Camp Carrots Summer holidays to Yorkshire

Day 3 pic of the day. Day 4 Decided to have a relaxing morning and a few drives. Relax and taste some of the local cultures around the pateley bridge area. Mostly ciders and cakes 🤪.We really loved the yorkshire area and the people. I think we enjoyed days 1 to 3 so much we tired ourselves out. A few pics of our chilled out day before our ride home. All the nitty gritty will be in a big write up for the magazine. The friendly cow who I will miss and his mates who I won't as they kept stopping us leave the barn we were staying in.

Yes maybe interested, what sort of price are you thinking and will you be able to post? I'll PM you. cheers Mark
  6. First run out for about 5 weeks today, after taking some time to recover from surgery. Felt so good to get out, and it was a lovely (fairly) gentle ride out in the sun to get back into the swing of things, stopping for a coffee and just enjoying the freedom again! No discomfort either, so I'm back baby! 😃

So sorry to read this, but also relieved to hear you weren't more seriously injured. I hope after day 2 your discomfort settles down and it doesn't affect your holiday plans. Take time to reflect as you say, and don't rush into anything.

    Bad day

Very sorry to read this, but it's a huge relief that you're not more seriously injured! I hope you recover quickly enough to be able to enjoy your holiday still. It's worth contacting Westfield to get a rough idea of parts costs to rebuild if you were to buy the write off, presumably the insurance assessor will have to do similar anyway? Hopefully they can still manufacture chassis since they're selling cars overseas at the moment. Best of luck

I also am sorry to hear your woes but seriously go and get checked out. Hopefully it is just superficial bruising but you cannot be too careful. if you had to cancel a holiday it would be a sad company to try to wriggle out if you have a medical reason signed by a Dr. The car may well be written off but can be respired far easier than you good luck

Hi @Craigieboy gutted to read this but you're still upright, albeit in pain. I'd not worry about the cat record it's more about how it's repaired and by who, as long as you detail the repairs with pics and paperwork, most people wouldn't be put off. Just look how @Paul Aspden (MoFast) carried out his chassis replacement and @Si.Dalziel is approaching his rebuild of the S2000 factory demo car. Take your time, explore the options and this great club will be here to assist and advise as and when you're ready.

    Bad day

Thanks for all the kind words and well wishes, much appreciated. ❤️ I actually feel a bit worse today and it's quite painful moving about and holding on to the walls as I go. They always say the second day is the worst. We are away on holiday next week which gives me time to reflect, but it's in question now and my wife wants me to go to Dr's to have it recorded in the event me need to cancel. I'm not so sure I would want the same car back and under a Cat record, though the main bits engine, box and diff are like new. The lack of new builds either factory or self build is very obvious now. Gladly I don't have any previous experience of this situation and I don't know how things will pan out, other than the car is definitely a write off with a new chassis required. Thank again

    MOT woes again!!

Thanks Rickrack yeah I’m so pleased and now can use the paperwork every year with no stress. Great to be out in this weather too although I got a bit sunburnt yesterday lol
  17. Maybe WF price is high because they are not buying many because of the low number of new cars being made...

    MOT woes again!!

Hi Sam, chuffed to bits that’s worked out, enjoy the next 12 months 🫶🏼 and now you gave the correct paperwork should make MOT’s less stressful going forward. Well done Sam 👍

My nephew damaged his Caterham in a similar way and the insurance company wrote it off. He bought the bits back and rebuilt it with a new chassis from an independent. It didn't actually take him long to do the rebuild but it was admittedly quite a while before he started as he lost heart and kind of fell out of love with it for a while. I guess I'm saying that it's a rotten shame for you but it's by no means the end of the world. Take the money and buy something new or do the rebuild. They're both reasonable things to do. But decide what's best for you.

So sorry to hear this, but relieved to hear your physically ok, bar the bruises and aches. As others have said, take a mo before deciding what to do.

Firstly, glad you are ok and walked away. You will be totally gutted, I feel for you. Do pause on what to do next. Consider carefully your options as it sounds like a replacement chassis would be needed on a rebuild and the bodywork too. This forum will give plentiful solid advice. I feel your pain. Glad you are ok though Andy

    Bad day

Had a bad day yesterday. Out a run with my mate in the MK and was involved in an accident resulting is severe damage to the N/S of my car, just at the door area. Thankfully neither me or the other driver were injured, though I am pretty sore today. I contacted Howdens and KGM today and have sent in pictures to be reviewed by their assessors on Monday. The damage is confined to one area, the exhaust was squashed flat, the top rail at the door pushed right in and deformed the passenger seat. The lower floor has been buckled a bit and I think the transmission tunnel might be deformed too. The scuttle panel has been pushed up and there is now large gap between it and the top of the footwell. Fair to say it's a bit of a mess. I'm totally gutted, after some recent upgrades it was really going great and I had some more big runs planned. Definitely a bad day 😞
