I use RainX on out side of my windows and anit fog on inside of windows as I don't have a heater and I haven't had any issues. I hit massive rain storm for 45mins on A1 last year coming back form Newark kit car show and don't have a hood. Just have a clean cloth to wipe inside windows just incase. If air filter sticks out side of your car just might be worth using some air filter cleaner and oil to protect it and rain wont soak up as bad on it.

I moved from Worcestershire to Hampshire recently and had to drive my Westfield down here in the pouring rain with the full hood on. Mainly fast dual carriageways. Long time since the hood it but it wasn't as bad as I remembered. Noisier than with it off; suggest you stuff a carrier bag down between the sidescreen and the body on both sides to stop water coming up there. Other than that the only minor issue was drips occasionally coming through the gap where the front edge of the sidescreen meets the hood/windscreen. You don't need to waterproof any switches etc. IMO. Just make sure your wipers work OK and you'll be fine

Echo what Rhett says, i did the NC500 last year in some truly awful weather, with half hood and half doors. The front wheels were throwing water at me and I had water dripping on me from inside the roof! I was worried about the switches and electrics, however didn't have any issue at all and everything cleaned up fine when I got home. I also bought new blades from halfords, cheap Bosch ones and cut them down. Though don't expect to much from them. Sounds like a great trip and when your in Duns you need to find Wojtek's statue and look into his story, amazing. Have a great time.

I've no hood at all.... I've found rainX or equivalent to be very useful as depending on your height, the wipers may not actually clear the part of the screen you look through. Do the inside of the screen too as you can get some water running down there and that helps it move...

can't comment on the full hood but I've driven my FW with half hood and doors in some pretty poor weather without issue, I do have a heater and that at times is needed to clear the misting screen. What I would advise very much is to check your wiper blades though, my very first experience of driving in the rain was not great and that was due to the wiper blades being rubbish at clearing water. Replaced with new and they are now fine. (purchased standard replacement blades from Halfords that were twice as long as needed and cut them in half, bit of fettling and they did the job perfectly)

Hi Folks, I'm due to drive from Shropshire up to Duns in Scotland to meet a friend up there and watch the Jim Clarke Rally go past his house this weekend. https://jimclarkrally.co.uk/ Ideally I'd like to take my Westfield but I'm a little nervous about my first big trip in it. You wouldn't believe I got back from a driving holiday in my campervan yesterday from Croatia and I'm now scared about popping to Scotland but here we are! I have a full hood and doors for my FW but I've yet to drive it in any rain. I did email soft bits for sevens asking about which type of half hood would suit my car and to better understand which type of roll bar I have but they've not replied to my email and the road trip to Croatia and other life got in the way so I didn't chase it up. The weather is now looking rainy on Saturday and Sunday when I'll be due to drive back so I'll need the full hood on and I'm slightly worried. Are full hoods as bad as everyone makes out? Does anyone have any tips about how to fit them or if I need to do anything to better weatherproof the switchgear or other parts of the car like the massive nostrils on the bonnet? The plan is to take the M6 from Shropshire/Midlands to Carlisle where I'll break off onto the wonderful (if memory serves) A7 to Duns for a hoot of a drive. I'm considering breaking up the journey with a hotel somewhere between Manchester and Carlisle so I'm fresh for the fun part of the drive on the A7. Does anyone have any recommendations for this? Possibly some local knowledge of a hotel with secure or covered parking in the the area? Bit embarrassed I'm nervous about this with the amount of road trips I've previously done but I just don't want to completely ruin my pride and joy in rain. Any tips or other advice greatly appreciated.
