I appreciate that info @Kingsterbut what I really meant is why are they called that, what is the difference between the two from Westfield's marketing viewpoint, ie why is one called 'kit', the other ZK etc? ie, not how to tell them apart but what is the difference between them if that makes sense?

Just to let everyone know, the new Club website is now live; as we were all painfully aware, the old one was terribly out of date, and also represented a different, older approach to the structure of such things, that didn't really take into account social media, and the spread of different on-line areas we now cover. The aim, apart from making sure everything was current, and would be easier to keep current, was to simplify everything dramatically, and rather than having multiple links to navigate around the site itself, it would serve as a hub, where you could find out about what we do, and then jump off into our other sites, such as the forum, from there.

As with everything, you have to go with what you’re comfortable with. i use an alloy tank, because I saw the damage it did to a members feet when a plastic tank split on the start line of a sprint, and scalding hot water poured down through the scuttle onto his limbs. The irony was, I seem to remember he was taken to the same A&E where he worked, and his colleagues took the p*sis mercilessly, once they’d got him comfortable.

Easiest ways to tell the two bodywork style apart is how the nose cone attaches to the chassis, and the shape of the scuttle where it meets the dash. Pop up some photos of these areas and we can confirm in a flash!

The regular get together at GBS in Retford is this Friday between 5 and 9pm Pizzas and drinks available.

If you confirm what body type you have and it is a "kit" (Andrew at ToyBox should know) let me know if you're interested in the hood and frame. I can get some pictures if it would help. I put it on the car once but don't know how much the previous owner used it, my guess is not much as he only did 9k miles in 23 years. The strip that clips onto the top of the screen is split, but i believe that is a common failure.

Like his brother Frank Costin was an accomplished engineer and from his early work at Dehaviland he gained the understanding that weight and aerodynamics were important factors in going quickly. Personally chapter 20 is my favourite part of the book 😀

On the other hand, it's true — just imagine how many fewer topics there would be on this forum (coolant level rising, coolant level dropping, coolant changed color (that one's me 😄)) if we all used aluminum tanks instead of transparent ones ;-). But seriously, I treat the reservoir as just another indicator — like water and oil temperature or oil pressure or brake fluid reservoir. Most of the time, everything is fine. But these indicators are there to catch the moment when things stop being fine. Glance at header tank and piece of mind.

The luggage capacity on a Westfield is fine for two people on a two week euro tour 😎

Worth a look, thanks. It's the sort of thing I have seen at cars shows in a plastic box and never given them a second look. What I hadn't realised was the upright and stub axle are 1 piece unlike the Triumphs I have had.

I worked for FORD parts in the late 70s and early 80s and all dealers were told to sort through their parts stock and any parts over a certain age were to be boxed up and would be collected by this company from memory https://newpartsonline.co.uk/

For me Frank Costin will always be remembered as the "cos" in Marcos with Gem Marsh being the "Mar". A design that is still fantastic today in my opinion. I am slightly biased as I live in Westbury where Marcos production ended its days. Westbury is only 5 miles from Bradford on Avon where it all began.

Hi, I'm looking for uprights and was just told about these. I'm interested, do you have any idea what state the spindles are in. Picking them up /getting the delivered would need to be sorted out.

Going off that Spot the Difference post, I’m thinking our car may well be a ‘kit’ but only based on the size of the lugs and the two sets of bonnet clips. All good to know, but I guess there’s so many variables on these cars that a definitive answer is probably not possible. Hey ho, I just want it now 👍

@Rednop1 ist selling a complete set of front axles incl. hub and wishbones. Maybe you can find somebody to collect them and ship to you? The price is really good in my opinion

I will have another look. I guess from what your saying is that I won't be able to get some from a local ford dealer then, bit rubbish ! 😜 I expect any new old stock ones were hoovered up to build kit cars back in the 80's

As he said, the holes in the steering arms are tapered for the track rod ends.
