CleaR Motorsport. A new beginning in Cheshire. Your chassis tunning specialist.
Ian Kinder (Bagpuss) - Joint Peak District AO replied to Maurici- CleaR Motorsport's topic in CleaR Motorsport
Further to discussion with Tony ( @DamperMan) and @Maurici- CleaR Motorsport I wound the perches down two full turns on both sides and stiffened the shocks up to 9 clicks. I drove it 30 or so miles to the Cheshire meet on Thu night like this. The banging was reduced in frequency and intensity over some of our poor quality roads but the ride stiffness was harder and I'd not want to run like this normally. It would be fine on track. I dropped the shocks to 0 clicks on the carpark at the Golden Pheasant and demonstrated the knocking to @Greenstreak-Andy D who agreed it was likely the dampers in full extension. I wound the clicks up to 5 for the journey hold and it was crash and bang city all the way. Yesterday morning, I've reset my front to 140mm and rear to 165mm (chassis rail not lowered floor) with my weight in the car and set the rear shocks to 6 clicks up (front are at 5 clicks up). This is how I've ran since originally fitting the Spax in Nov 2022. A short 15 mile test drive confirmed all the be wonderful and no more knocking. clearly I've undone all @Maurici- CleaR Motorsport good work with the corner weighting, however it was always an experiment for me with my mobile laboratory. I enjoy it. Some experiments work, some don't. I'm just home from a great 100 mile trip round the peaks with approx 50 of those with a 12 stone passenger and the car has ran fine. no knocks, no bottoming out handled great. @Maurici- CleaR Motorsport has kindly offered to take a look at my corner weights free of charge, so I will revisit in the next few weeks, but I'll not be adjusting the ride height at the rear much higher! -
Yes, it’s still available.

Bristol, Bath & Cotswolds Runout - Sunday 6 April - Breakfast at Five Zeros Supercars
Paul Baker - Bristol Bath and Cotswold AO replied to Paul Baker - Bristol Bath and Cotswold AO's topic in Local Area Meets, Events & Kit Car Shows
We had a brilliant outing this morning, great weather and great company. I counted 12 cars in total, with 6 Westfields, 2 GTMs, a V-Storm, a Lotus, a Ford Capri and a Robin Hood. We kicked off with the early meet at the Cross Hands pub just north of Bristol and it turned into an impromptu takeover of their car park. Kirk had the longest journey there, travelling over from South Wales and we gradually joined him and lined everyone up. We were then joined by some other enthusiasts over the other side of the car park who must have had the same idea. We went to say hello and looked at two more Capris, an Opel Manta, a Rover Coupe and a beautiful Porsche which I'd love to have learnt more about if we'd had the time. Then we set off and had a great run down to Five Zeros Supercars at Bradford on Avon. It was a lot of fun leading the convoy and we managed to stay together! Roads were reasonably quiet so a nice drive. We arrived and lined up alongside Gary's Robin Hood and it didn't take long for the car park to be packed. It was Aston Martin weekend and the glorious weather was obviously encouraging everyone to come out. And it did make me laugh that our three yellow cars stuck together! We enjoyed a breakfast bap or two, had a nice catch up with everyone and looked at some great machines. When we eventually drifted away, Peter led some of us on a tour up northwards via Castle Combe. Peter's Fireblade is rapid and Flying Carrot Steve was flying after him in his turbo, the pair of them were out of sight at the end. A great blat to finish the morning. Thanks to everyone who came out to play. Looking forward to the next one already. -

New project - 13" Wheels, Lights, Wishbones, allsorts - check back!
Geoff101 posted a topic in Parts Wanted
After a while away from the club, I've just collected another Westfield. It's a bit of a project, so I'm going to need lots of bits. Please keep checking back, and I will update. Prefer items in very good condition please. Need to be prepared to post, or within reach of Oxfordshire. For starters: 13" Wheels and /or tyres - something half decent preferably that will fit an early wide (1990 chassis, fixed arches) without spacers, which I think means something around an ET15. Either all 6J or 6J fronts and 7J rears. Momo Team 280 Steering wheel and boss. Upper steering column - I'm guessing it's the older one (Escort?). Black proper Westfield 5 3/4" headlights. A set of front wishbones - must be in good condition. I think it's standard track at the moment but I haven't checked yet. Decent RAC type roll bar, preferably with the eyelets for the hood frame mounting. Complete interior carpet set or alternative. VDO Vision 8K Tachometer. Seats (not urgent but if anyone has a nice set) - something lightweight preferred. Any lightweight shiny alloy bits - uprights, hubs, brakes etc etc. Budget is limited, so please be nice! -

Would be rude not to the 90mile around daily commute when the weathers so nice. Sunny but it was bitter cold 🥶 -

I've owned the car seven years now and has improved every year and drives so nicely. I am the second owner and the original builder enjoyed it for five years as was registered in 2013 with the help of Northampton Motorsport. The original build is a standard SDV with lowered floors based on the MX5. This is based on the mk2 MX5 and has the correct year plate from the car. The engine is standard 1.8 withe the 5speed gearbox and rear axle. All the brakes, hubs, driveshafts, steering column, wiring, instruments and controls come from the original MX5 making it reliable and easy to work on if you like spannering. I'm always tinkering and modifying which has put the car in a great shape. This year I've added a raised sump to give extra ground clearance. Last year I stripped all the hubs and calipers which has resulted in amazing brake performance and an unusually good handbrake. I'll list some stuff to keep me from waffling on too long: Flat top intake manifold - best Mazda manifold and quite rare now. BP5A exhaust manifold - best Mazda NA manifold and super rare. Injectors rebuilt and balanced by Mr. Injector. Sport cat and decat pipe included. Coolant bypass - professionally made ali pipework. New battery Gearbox and diff oil replaced last year. New clutch last year. Interior has JK carbon top seats. Carbon fibre chassis rail covers. Carbon fibre entry covers. Caged half cage with high level brake light. Side screens and deflectors. Vinyl boot box cover. Car cover One of the lighter Westfield's at about 600 Kg. The screen can be removed as have an aero screen to save weight and to aid aerodynamics. Spare set of wheels can be included at the right price. Lots I've forgotten to mention. £8950ono 07400 656562 robthomas5@yahoo.co.uk

Currently stripping my car down , I believe they are Rally Design wishbones to give an extra wide track with rack spacers. £150 posted. Some ware and surface rust.
-
Westfield SEIW roll bars , standard and a shortened RAC bar, unfortunately the RAC bar didn’t give enough clearance for my seatbelt set up. £75 for both.
