Just bought a Westfield!
Mathew Vernon - Membership Secretary replied to Richard jolley's topic in The Start Line
Quick search for 4AGE turned up a couple of threads 1) Looks like there was a previous for sale advert for your chassis back in 2023, with photos showing how straight it all is. Not sure if the rebuild of the car is on the forum somewhere, but judging by the appearance of it it now, and all of the parts used then someone spent a lot of time, effort and money on it There’s also a thread discussing oil grade for the 4AGE here. It is quite old but might be of use to you -

Hi, if you're ok to post, I'll take these? If so, please drop me a PM with payment details. I'm overseas at the moment so it may take me a couple of days to send the cash if that's ok. -
Hi all, I'm looking for a new project, and I'm planning on building a race car. As such I'm looking for a chassis / rolling chassis / old race car / unfinished project / car in need of some work etc. As you can tell I'm pretty open to any options!!! Given it's going to be a race car it doesn't need a V5 etc... Please message me if you have something that could work. Cheers Richard

Hi, thankyou! I’m over the moon with it! always wanted one, and yes this is the original thread which I found and safe to say I was blown away by the spec list as the owner I bought it from knew nothing…. havent had a chance to get stuck in driving it properly as the clutch is slipping, and I want to do a full service with all fluids and timing belt before I go crazy. Which is where the questions come in, I don’t know what parts or fluids to use regards rich

Hi @Richard jolley, welcome to the club, and congratulations on your purchase. Is it this car? Looks like a very well sorted car having been rebuilt from the chassis up a couple of years ago, and at a cracking price. There’s a wealth of knowledge in the forum, and people will be more than happy to help you. Is there anything in particular you feel you would like to change about the car? Regularly given advice is to drive it as much as possible so you can decide areas you wish to improve upon to suit your specific requirements. Mat - Today

Silverstone Festival 22nd to 24th August 2025
Hedley Bennett (HB46443) - Club Chairman replied to marcusb's topic in Local Area Meets, Events & Kit Car Shows
Huge thanks to everyone who joined us at the Silverstone Festival with WSCC – whether you managed a day or braved the whole weekend! Plenty of laughs, plenty of cars, and a few lessons learned along the way… namely: if you leave your phone at a club meeting, be prepared for “alternative perspectives” appearing on it later. Also, note to self (and everyone else): feet are not a recognised photographic subject with cars! Apparently! A slight change to the format next year means that the event will be rescheduled and renamed possibly back to the Silverstone classic but either way hope to see more of you next year! HB look out for the ITV4 film about Silverstone festival. September 21st 2025, I was advised. -

Just purchased my first Westfield, still a pinch me moment as I’ve always wanted one. This is an absolute blast and before being a little un loved it clearly had a tonne spent on it, I’m hoping to find the builder who I believe is @djtom would love to get a bit more info on it as it now needs a bit of love and would be a blinder if this is correct and you have the time to help! if it helps it’s the British racing green with the lighter green nose cone and go faster stripes!

Naaah happens all the time when someone tries to spam-link in an old post that they find via google. I removed the link and put the moderator hammer down.

Did a bit of a erm detour to avoid roads clogged up with stationary traffic yesterday. Made it to Loton. Just not helped by the local HUGE steam rally which seemed to attract the whole of Shrewsbury!

Hi thanks for replies, what area of car is the ride height measured -
I would hazard a guess that at this point in time, from a spring/damper point of view, there is nobody in the industry that knows Westfield suspension better than Tony; but then he’s in a unique position, not just owning a Westfield to use as a test/development mule, but to have also done huge numbers of track day miles in it, as well. Of course that’s not to say the Spax are the pinnacle of what can be done. They’re very much designed to a (very popular) price point.if you want Ohlins (et al) results, there aren’t any short cuts, you’ll need the budget to match. But if you’re looking at that next step up after the factory standard Gaz, or need to swap out worn Protechs etc, without breaking the bank, I’d be going Spax every time.

Lovely run over Clee Hills this morning with my lad. Good couple of hours, before the roads got busy. Stopped at this spot for a break, and a lovely chap who was there on a bike came over for a chat. Turned out he worked at Westfield on our cars in the 90s developing things like the V8 and a lot of other things that were still in my car now. He had some great stories. After we left, wished I'd got his name.

I fitted garage doors for a living for over 10 years. Ive been out of the industry now for 10 years. If you want a secure roller shutter there was only one manufacturer that had any security accreditation. That was Securoglide. Rollers shutters are inherently insecure as they are so flexible. It takes very little force to push on the slats and bend the sufficiently to push them out of the guide tracks. The wider the door the easier it is . The insulated profiled slats offer strongest resistance and single doors upto 8' wide. Their was also compact shutters that needed less head room for the roll above the opening. These were less secure than the non compact doors with wider slats. I replaced so many that had been broken into or bent beyond repair by parking incidents. Always buy from a long established reputable manufacturer that can supply all parts as replacements. Especially slats. If you opt for automation, make sure all sensors, control boards, motors are available as spare parts. I've seen so many people buy from Sunday paper adverts, only to find out that the company they choose won't supply a control board or slat and they are faced with a bill for a new door. If security is crucial then an full panel steel up and over with 4 point locking is the lowest cost, a sectional door with operator and no handle would be my personal choice. They are prone to rattling when the wind blows. I have a neighbour who had one fitted and even in a moderate breeze it sounds like we are in a boat yard. I cent image what it must sound like sat in their lounge.! There are so many roller shutter suppliers and bit all are equal .

I recently all 4 if mine with a set from Spax. Tony has an incredible amount of historical information and knowledge about Westfield's. They were delivered within a couple of days of me ordering and Tony was very helpful throughout the installation. Particularly when it turned out my car had been running front shocks on all 4 corners for all of its life ! Installation is straight forward as is set up. There's a suspension setup sheet from Westfield in on the forum. I'm sure someone will be able to point you to it which will help you set up the ride height. As for damping, Spax documents give great advise.

Parked up on the Westfield club stand The Caterham club stand had 20 cars on it The Caterham club stand had a manned tent too I like a Caterham but it doesn't have a club quite like ours and you need a few more pennies The Lotus, Caterham and Morgan factory stands were all together and just across from the Westfield Chesil Ltd and GBS stands The Caterham deals were available and were interesting to compare to our new Westfield model. This one plus this one and finally You want to have a peek at the new Westfield model?
